Advanced weapons platform concept 1

[Linkus]

Essentially a more advanced weapons platform meant to combat capital ships. The increased power of the weaponry has it's drawbacks, namely the lack of being able to cover every angle around the platform. The guns can be made to move if needs be. The central part that is sticking out is where I may put a small docking moor for repair ships to carry out inner hull repairs etc. No docking ports though, this thing aint that big.
Other than that, this is simply a concept. More work would need to be done before this would be at all ready for submission. I just wished to find out if the general design is a good one etc. Deadline be soon enough so can't afford to waste time:P

So yes, comments/suggestions/omfgihaetyou etc are always welcome!:)

it looks nice. but from a tactical standpoint it looks vulnerable. a big target where one (//RP//) Supernova shot or good volley from a capship and that thing cracks apart.

Also, how do you make these guns not just 1-2 fighters and bombers if they're designed for anti-cap work? I don't want to punish fighter and bomber pilots more by adding these things in.

Aye, make it smaller, with rotating guns. And maybe have a few guns that are Anti-Cap, and a few that are anti-fighter.

If those turrets could rotate and had 2 times the power of guard weapons platforms I could see it being used as defense platforms above House system planets and such. Be a nice thing to represent that. Since you hear about a defense network on the first mission... anyways. I see possibility in the future. however I believe patience in its development.

Ironically enough. This was a topic I brought up on Teamspeak this week. King was saying something about how he felt it wouldn't look good. I thought it would be awesome and perfect because one would figure ambitious people would develop planetary GUNS to fire into space. Anyways...

PS. Don't quote me on Kingvaliant.. it was sorta noisy with about 6 people on and a boatload of background noise. I leave final words from him up to him.

Difficult to disagree with Xing on the blind spots - but I do see these platforms adding value to the game. Purely from an aesthetic POV Id prefer to see a more cubic platform so you have 6 guns covering the points of the compass + up/down. Also thought about sticking the guns on the 8 flattened corners.

As we all know there are a lot of players that don't/won't regularly read the forums so this will help enforce what the rest of us RP. From personal experience its foolish to be hostile around BS ship bases as they now fire back bloody unfriendly beams of death & your Advanced Weapon Platform should help simulate that. Players won't need to read some RP rule hidden on the forums - if they pirate in front of Capital Planet they better learn how to dodge.
