hi

ive been thinking of trying out FLs account manager since i dont know what it does..

but if i rinstall window son my machine or even just reinstall FL -- would i lose my characters on discovery's server? i think i might because most other online games use a login and password to access your account -- and FL doesn't -- meaning its relying maybe on registry information or an IP address or somehting.

i think it relie son registry info. in which case if i wipe FL and ireinstall it -- i will lose my discovery characters?

thanks

You will not lose your characters, as long as you write down or print all of your account ID's, otherwise you will lose them..

Hope that helps.

EDIT: If you only re-install FL, you shouldn't have to write the account ID down, but I would do it anyways for safety

you have to know your freelancer account ID, freelancer account manager can tell you this. It can also export your freelancer account(s) to a seperate file which you can copy onto a disk to use after your system restore.

I'm having to do the same thing right now, reinstalling windows. I have four CD's worth of personal files, everything from game patches to documents to 3d models for 3dsmax, to hundreds of images (yay pron).

Hello, yes, yes, yes.

No problem.

Use FLAM, export the accounts and save the file to a thumb drive. Once it's all reinstalled, just Import> find the file, and you have your characters back.

Accounts are stored server side. Its an account ID that allows you to access the specific characters on that account.

Real quick unrelated thing: Why is it so hard to use FLMM!? It doesn't even have a tutorial with it, they just expect you to know how to use it! I have tried doing what people tell me to do (They all told me do follow what it says when you use it for the first time, never works..!), but its just to dang hard!

Use FAM to export your account file and save that file to a thumb drive. Then when you reinstall ... use FAM to import the file.

All should be good. I've done it myself.

hard? it's one of the most straightforward programs that you can use... and if there is something unclear a little trial and error will get the job done anyway...
