I'm writing Light Novel (think of novella with whole-page anime pictures depicting the plot time to time) and I ended up, trying to cope up with my previous failed ideas, to set whole thing around VR MMO and Slice-of-life.
The problem is how to avoid the possible problems with actual history in the story, like, how to make in-book background kind of believeable, in what time set it (2020s?), if to even make it Alternative History a bit (like Windows have failed in 2010 and was replaced by other OS)? Any ideas about how to get out from this kind of awkward situation (so far, I have no other explanation than most generic 2020s with the new VR that stormed hearts of millions).
I can't say much about plot for now (possible publication law issues in the future), but I assure you I'm trying to put my heart into that idea, as I my very long write-block disappeared. I can say however it will include fantasy (in game), sci-fi, romance, drama (slice-of-life I believe; real world).

At the moment I'm just wondering, if I should go for more NET GAME style, or keep it as a purely fantasy thing, without modern world. Can't really decide on this one, to be honest.
