Mission Completion: Exploration - Omicron 74
I was given a mission by Flottillenadmiral Schlafenberg to chart the Omicron 74 system. He was also the one to go with me to the said system since I am not allowed to go there by myself. At first, everything was going smoothly, without any incidents. The planet on the far side of Omicron 74 is a gas giant. However, it is being orbited by a Zoner base and a satellite. North of the planet, we discovered an unknown jump hole, probably leading to Sigmas or northern Omicrons. After exchanging a few comments about it, we decided to see if there's anything hidden in a nearby nebula.
We were surprised to see a very heavily guarded shipyard in the northern part of the nebula. Considering we've already spent a lot of time in partially unknown space, we moved down to the nebula as quickly as possible. Suddenly, we stumbled upon a huge, circular minefield, somewhere in the middle of the nebula. Both of us agreed that we should look for a passage, but we never managed to find one. Either it is extremely well hidden or it doesn't exist. Nevertheless, the minefield had us intrigued.
In the southern part of the nebula, there is nothing that's unknown to the Buro. Omicron Delta jump hole and Sparta station, which probably serves as a depot considering its very weak defenses. We tried to find out what's that minefield about from locals on Freeport 15 but with no success whatsoever. As Mr. Schlafenberg and I left Omicron 74, a couple of Corsair ships intercepted us, acting almost as we were expected to show up. It could've been a tip off from someone on the Freeport 15, or a pure coincidence - we will never know. The two of us decided to get to the safety of Freeport in Theta in order not to risk losing the data we gathered. We also did not find any resources at all.
For clarification, here is the mission I was given:
Exploration - Omicron 74
Overt Operation Büro Der Marineintelligenz assets are frequently passing through a star system designated as Omicron 74 without having much knowledge about the system itself. It is known to be inhabited by "Zoners", so problems are not expected. However, it is adviced to stay alerted. Nomad presence has been confirmed several times in the neighboring system, Omicron Delta.
● Objective: Completely chart Omicron 74. Explore the local nebulae for possible resources, chart all planets, stations and possibly even jump holes.
BDM|Adm-K.Schlafenberg: Well Herren, we will gather up at Schatten ja?
BDM|Rkt-Diana.Pearce: Roger that. I'm currently in Dresden and on my way.
BDM|Adm-K.Schlafenberg: You have read the task I have given to you right?
BDM|Rkt-Diana.Pearce: Yes Sir, I am to chart the Omicron 74 system.
BDM|Adm-K.Schlafenberg: Let's move to the Sigma 13 gate first.
BDM|Adm-K.Schlafenberg: Break formation, these clouds may be dangerous.
BDM|Adm-K.Schlafenberg: One more jump hole and we are there.
BDM|Rkt-Diana.Pearce: Acknowledged.
BDM|Rkt-Diana.Pearce: Here we are.
BDM|Adm-K.Schlafenberg: Here we are. Area between this jump hole and the one leading to Omicron Delta is well known.
BDM|Adm-K.Schlafenberg: This is your task, Rekrut. I will go where you go. *He smiles*
BDM|Rkt-Diana.Pearce: We should probably check out that planet first.
BDM|Adm-K.Schlafenberg: Ja, let's move!
BDM|Rkt-Diana.Pearce: A gas giant. Nothing special about it.
BDM|Adm-K.Schlafenberg: Ja indeed.. This seems to be the only planet in this system, as my sensors don't pick any onter.
BDM|Rkt-Diana.Pearce: Indeed.
BDM|Adm-K.Schlafenberg: Quite a defense here... *He looks the the armed satellite*
BDM|Rkt-Diana.Pearce: Quite interesting.
BDM|Rkt-Diana.Pearce: A jump hole.
BDM|Adm-K.Schlafenberg: We were not aware of this one..
BDM|Rkt-Diana.Pearce: Not anymore.
BDM|Adm-K.Schlafenberg: We will explore the other side later. Do you have any idea where should it lead?
BDM|Rkt-Diana.Pearce: The jump hole?
BDM|Adm-K.Schlafenberg: Ja, I think that it leads to Omicron Delta or somewhere into Sigmas most likely.
BDM|Rkt-Diana.Pearce: Sadly, I have no clue. Probably towards the northern Omicrons.
BDM|Rkt-Diana.Pearce: Let's see if there's anything hidden inside that nebula.
BDM|Rkt-Diana.Pearce: A hostile installation. Heavily defended.
BDM|Adm-K.Schlafenberg: Even more defense here...
BDM|Adm-K.Schlafenberg: Let's avoid it, we may not be warmly welcomed if we come closer.
BDM|Rkt-Diana.Pearce: Woah. A minefield.
BDM|Adm-K.Schlafenberg: That was unexpected..
BDM|Rkt-Diana.Pearce: This keeps getting more interesting with every move.
BDM|Adm-K.Schlafenberg: No resources detected within the asteroids.
BDM|Rkt-Diana.Pearce: Do you think we should look for a passage, if one even exists?
BDM|Adm-K.Schlafenberg: We definitely should try to find a passage.
BDM|Adm-K.Schlafenberg: It looks dense, and according to the scanners, it is very wide also.
BDM|Rkt-Diana.Pearce: Indeed.
BDM|Adm-K.Schlafenberg: I haven't seen any passage yet. I wonder what is the purpose of this mess.
BDM|Rkt-Diana.Pearce: There has to be something.
BDM|Adm-K.Schlafenberg: Ja, but what...
BDM|Rkt-Diana.Pearce: You don't protect empty space with a minefield.
BDM|Adm-K.Schlafenberg: Now we are right where we started. It doesn't make much sense, but it's close to that base picked up as hostile.
BDM|Rkt-Diana.Pearce: Indeed.
BDM|Rkt-Diana.Pearce: Another jump hole, and a station.
BDM|Adm-K.Schlafenberg: This jump hole leads into Omicron Delta.
BDM|Rkt-Diana.Pearce: The station seems very lightly defended.
BDM|Adm-K.Schlafenberg: A Zoner base and another... separated by minefield. I wonder what happened here...
BDM|Adm-K.Schlafenberg: Our wings are passing the freeport nearby quite often. Zoners tend to be friendly, but quite conservative too.
BDM|Rkt-Diana.Pearce: I'm still wondering about that minefield.
BDM|Adm-K.Schlafenberg: Apparently, something happened between local Zoners and the others... But who are the Others?
BDM|Adm-K.Schlafenberg: I can't think of anyone disliking Zoners so much to hide behind a wall of mines.
BDM|Rkt-Diana.Pearce: Maybe there are some rumors on nearby Freeports that could at least point us in a right direction.
BDM|Adm-K.Schlafenberg: Ja, let's examine some reports of the locals.
BDM|Rkt-Diana.Pearce: Maybe try the Freeport 15?
BDM|Adm-K.Schlafenberg: Ja, to the freeport we passed by.
BDM|Rkt-Diana.Pearce: Did You manage to find anything, Sir?
BDM|Adm-K.Schlafenberg: *Shrugs* I have confirmed that the Zoners are .. running this hole, as one of them said.
BDM|Adm-K.Schlafenberg: But Corsairs are also present. We should keep a low profile.
BDM|Adm-K.Schlafenberg: Other than that, I haven't got anything relevant, not even close to the minefield.
BDM|Rkt-Diana.Pearce: Same here.
BDM|Adm-K.Schlafenberg: Zoners tend to warmly welcome anyone on their bases. I am not really surprised about Corsair presence on the base.
BDM|Rkt-Diana.Pearce: Neither am I.
APT|Jennifer,Lopez: Oh!
BDM|Rkt-Diana.Pearce: Woah, what is this.
Camila.Nevaraz: Ay!
Camila.Nevaraz: They came to us!
BDM|Adm-K.Schlafenberg: The corsairs.. *He spits*
APT|Jennifer,Lopez: What a sorpresa....
Camila.Nevaraz: *giggles*
Camila.Nevaraz: LOSERS!
APT|Jennifer,Lopez: Indeed.
APT|Jennifer,Lopez: Look at them trying to run... How nice.
BDM|Rkt-Diana.Pearce: You seem keen on annoying us. That would be ill-adivsed.
APT|Jennifer,Lopez: Is that so?
BDM|Adm-K.Schlafenberg: I think you should not be tampering with us.
Camila.Nevaraz: We shall.
APT|Jennifer,Lopez: Or else?
Camila.Nevaraz: Because you deserve death.
APT|Jennifer,Lopez: Oh si.
Camila.Nevaraz: Well.
Camila.Nevaraz: Kill this one.
Camila.Nevaraz: Since he left.
APT|Jennifer,Lopez: Let's.
BDM|Rkt-Diana.Pearce: Oh well, I guess we won't be seeing each other again.
Camila.Nevaraz: Wait.l
Camila.Nevaraz: Or.
