Okay Ladies and Gents. The Admiralty Board has been discussing some things, and it has been agreed that we should begin sharing some of the things we wish to adjust in the coming weeks and months. Your voice and feedback is important to us, so we will be searching for your feedback. This goes to people not apart of the BAF| too. We want to hear your input. What would you like to see change wise that would attract you to us? This could become out next topic of discussion. So, I decided to start us off with a couple updates.
To begin, I wanted to talk about Bretonian Armed Forces Recruitment. It is more important to us than ever that we have you as apart of us. The changes we wish to make will rely upon the players, more than our high command. Whilst much of it will revolve around Commander and Captain ranks, with a new promotion process (I'll get on to this later), I hope to get you there quicker than before. With determination, and good activity (In game and MD reports), we'll see about you rising the ladder quickly, and efficiently, in a streamlined process that allows us to see how you improve and grow as a part of our faction. If you have any hesitance surrounding the questions in our recruitment thread, please do contact any member of the BAF|, we are happy to help prospective players in joining our little group.
Now, second point of the evening. A new promotion process. As it currently stands, we only make promotions based upon roll call replies. We take that, and compare it to what we know of that character and person, and how they are currently helping the faction as a whole. I hope, that in future, alongside the current system, we can start to look at players activity more closely, so that, perhaps between quarterly roll calls, people can begin climbing that ladder. I will also take suggestions from members of the BAF|. If you're flying with someone, and they are helping you with Message Dump reports, perhaps they're helping you train to be a better pilot in a fighter, or perhaps they are that guy thats always there when someone goes for a patrol. If you think "This person does so much to help us", tell me. Drop me a PM over skype, and I'll make sure we have a quick discussion in the HC chat. This, again, should allow a quicker, more streamlined process.
The last thing I wanted to share with you, was the first part of what have been working on. Titles. (yeah, we need a better name for that. Work in progress!) Currently a point of discussion is that Commanders and Captains, the people we look at as deserving positions on the Board, don't have enough to do for their rank. In that regard, we have decided to look at some "titles", and what responsibilities will come with it. The first one we have made is our Quatermaster. Here's what we're looking at:
Quote:The Armed Forces Quatermaster will be tasked with maintaining and the handling of shared capital ship and shared accounts. It will be the Quatermasters job to look after these vessles, and ensure that newly promoted Officers gain access to the correct ships. If they have already got access to their own ship, it will be up to the quatermaster to direct them to the relevant thread (here: http://discoverygc.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=113967 ) and ensure it is discussed by the board and that a decision has been reached. The Quatermaster, in time, will also gain access to the Bank and Armoury account. If they have proved to be responsible enough (in the eyes of the current Fleet Admiral player) to hold such responsibility, they will have access to this account to give out armoury help weaponry, and also to divert funds from the armoury, such as giving new players money if they absolutely cannot afford a AU VIII. It is also up to the Quatermaster to then ensure the loan is refunded.
This is an example of what we are currently designing. No doubt that description will be refined before we decide to implement it, but now you have an idea of what we are planning to do.
I'll close with a message to all players in the BAF|. Forum work is quite often carried out by the HC, and in many cases it is our belief that it should be. However, we like to see initiative. If you see a transmission directed at us, feel free to give me a poke on skype with your proposed message. If I think it's suitable, then 9 times out of 10, i'll let you make that reply. Please please please remember this. These are all things that I bear in mind when approving or denying promotion sugestions. It will only help you in the long run! Thanks again for being great guys!
Good afternoon all, this is the second "update" within the BAF| to keep all of you people in the know of what sort of things are flying around the HC chat at the moment. Much like last week, the HC has been working on the new titles which were introduced to bring new content for members at that rank. We have decided on a few more titles, here are the current confirmed ones:
Quote:Quartermaster:
The Armed Forces Quartermaster will be tasked with maintaining and the handling of shared capital ship and shared accounts. It will be the Quartermasters job to look after these vessels, and ensure that newly promoted Officers gain access to the correct ships. If they have already got access to their own ship, it will be up to the quatermaster to direct them to the relevant thread (here: http://discoverygc.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=113967 ) and ensure it is discussed by the board and that a decision has been reached. The Quartermaster, in time, will also gain access to the Bank and Armoury account. If they have proved to be responsible enough (in the eyes of the current Fleet Admiral player) to hold such responsibility, they will have access to this account to give out armoury help weaponry, and also to divert funds from the armoury, such as giving new players money if they absolutely cannot afford a AU VIII. It is also up to the Quartermaster to then ensure the loan is refunded.
Executive Officer of the Merchant Navy:
The Executive Officer of the Merchant Navy is the CO’s personal “right hand man” to assist in the everyday running of the organisation. The member should be interested in the Sub Faction and have a charismatic attitude to persuade the somewhat lazy MN members to log! The member will also be expected to answer comms on behalf of the MN if the CO is not able to. They will also be involved with decision making for projects within the MN.
Current Ex.Officer: Derkylos (Simon Aldwyn)
Capital Assests Coordinator - The Capital Assets Coordinator is tasked with orginising capital vessels into battles, and as well as supervising simulation training for commanding officers of Her Majesty's capital vessels. They are required to have supreme knowledge of the concept of Capital warships and Capital battles. They are chosen carefully by the board from the elite officers.
Assault Wing Inspector - They are responsible for training other fighter and bomber pilots in the Armed Forces as well as organizing them throughout war zones. They are chosen from the aces who have splendid understanding of the concept of guirella warfare and Fighter/Bomber class ships battles. They are chosen carefully by the board from the elite officers.
Executive Officer of the Fleet - They are chosen very carefully by the Admiralty Board as the second hand of the Commanding officer of one of the 11 Fleets of the Armed Forces. Those who have been honored with this position have shown extreme and supreme dedication to the Armed Forces and distinguished work. They have extra perks regarding their own field of work within their fleet. They help their superiors with paperwork, maintain the fleet when the commanding officer is unavailable.
With all of that fun stuff going on we have also released a Roll call. that ends in 6 days. After all of the replies are in we will take a look at the roster and decide who we think could fill in the roles we have introduced. We'll then talk to you in PM and see what you think about taking up the role etc and other things.. Also! We have just about got all of the dates of when everyone joined so we have medals! Medals will also be given out on the 27th, they can go by your name when you sign off a report or something. They are showy off things but we're going to start noting down if you get a GRN| kill or a TBH kill and then that will go towards a Fighter Ace medal, same with caps.
Moving on, we have nearly reached the point where we can officially say we have a new ranking system. Well, it's not new it's just more defined so people know what they're doing. Fallen has been a great help with this because he did one a few years ago but it has seemed to have fallen into disarray when Joe stepped up (lol). Jokes aside, here's what we have so far:
Command:
Fleet Admiral
Admiral
Commodore
Senior Officers:
Captain
Commander
Junior Officers:
Lieutenant Commander
Scrubs Officers:
Lieutenant
Ensign
Obviously there is a load of boring writing with all of that, but we have still not got to the point where every one is happy.. We're getting there (slowly).
Anyhow, I don't think there's much else to say other than get some reports in if you're looking to secure a promotion. One final thing I forgot, we are organising some training sometime in the coming week for the whole faction. So look out for an announcement in the main chat and let us know what times are good for you.
