I don't know about you guys but I recon that finding Junker bases are hard to find; Even when you know where they are!
For example, when you start a new character and you know roughley where Rochester or Trafalgar base is right? But when you go to where you think it is it never comes up on the scanner where you think it will be. Even if you follow the patrol routes somtimes.
Is it some kinda bug or are Junker bases as unscannable as the metal they collect?

They depend on secrecy, and harvest scrap feilds. Where ELSE would be a good place but a scrap feild?
Also, they arent exactly lawfuls, they cant just go building black markets in open sight, hidden the houses can ignore their existence.
In RP, trying to scan for a ship or station amidst huge amounts of scrap metal and all sorts of other debris in space would be nearly impossible - the ship/station would blend in with everything else.
In RP, junkers run black market trade - everything from illegal weapons to drugs and artifacts - so we need to remain fairly well hidden from lawful forces (which is why it ticks me off seeing liberty battleships hovering outside of rochester).
Out of RP, because New york is actually a fairly large system, and stations only pop up on your solars scanner tab once they're within 14k range.
You should learn how to navigate around most systems without using your map or scanners though =P If heading from manhattan to Rochester, you look at the colorado jump gate in the distance and aim about a quarter inch to the left of it. If heading from the colorado jump hole to rochester, you aim about half an inch to the right of planet pittsburgh.
Yea Junker bases are very well hidden. Theres only 4 bases that I know of thats not in the guard system.....the only easy one to find is Yanagi but then you have to deal with the radiation(not too bad)

Sigma 13 - Yanagi
New York - Rochester
New Berlin - Kreuzberg
New London - Trafalgar
Omega 15 - Bornholme
Five outside of our guard system. In the guard system we have another four stations:
Arecibo Base
Vieques Shipyard
Culebra Smelter
Carolina Outpost
oh yea I forgot allllll about bornholm. So....I know them all. And Culebra is right.....you will never catch a junker smuggler. We live under the radar. THATS why you cant find our bases
yea, if only cops would play along, and not go "LOL DROP TEH CONTRBND!" every time you find yourself running around with 1 unit of cardamine because you had to kill some outcast npc that got cocky...
I carry 1 unit of counterfeit software to simulate Ratchet's hacked program and not one cop has pulled me over. Poor Hyung got pulled over by a battleship for it lol.
I tell you its the ore at the smelter that masks my cargo :P
