I was about to escort an unlawful faction Pirate Train on a ship of the same affiliation when I noticed in the ID that I "cannot assist allies outside of ZoI". So if the Pirate Train was intercepted and came under fire I could do nothing in order to protect it.
On a more realistic example, during the artifact deliveries that The Brotherhood makes in Texas, if one of the transports is intercepted the rest of the convoy is not allowed to do nothing in order to help it.
I checked both Corsair and TBH ID. Both IDs clearly state that Corsair economy is based on Artifacts smuggling and piracy. It mentions nothing about covering other Corsairs or allies out from ZoI.
So, we are confused now. Can we defend our convoy mate when out of ZoI or not?
Perhaps the addition of a line saying "can escort same affiliation traders" to the ID would be appropriate? I don't know the specific case, but it sounds like that would fix the issue while changing the least amount possible
Just to note, the generic Pirate ID has the line about assisting ships of the same affiliation outside of ZoI.
And Leppy, it's not only about "escorting". In the example of the TBH, all of them are usually flying transports, so you cannot call the nearby transport as an "escort".

Not really, the pirate ID can defend ships of the same affiliation inside it's ZoI, only that a Pirate ID's ZoI is... everywhere.
Anyway, I think a clause that says that you are able to escort allied traders should be added.
Because of players, who forced that particular ability to be removed due to their actions.

Since ALG got sanctioned for assisting LN in Colorado and being dragged into Cassini, should we assume lawfuls will not be able to assist anyone outside their ZoI?
The problem is that most of the players base their roleplay on the (NPC) faction rep card. However, following the ID ruleset to the letter, e.g. Hogosha is forced to shoot at Farmers Alliance, despite the two being allied, according to the faction card.
