A long time ago, we had a bit more well-explained set of piracy rules, which were relevant both to the pirates pirating and the traders, who were pirated. It specifically explained that there are three types of demands:
Money- "2mil or die"
Cargo- "Gief ore or die"
RP- "Leave system/do a barrel roll/shoot that guy/dock/call the Navy tards in system or die"
Lately I have encountered a lot of traders, who are not used to the third request. The reason, I think, is due to how dumbed down the piracy rules are right now.
Apart from that, please tell me if you had this situation before.
You catch a trader and, after an argument, they pay you. After which they are ''safe'' from any further demands....and instantly start insulting you irp or being a neusance in other ways. I usually send their paid money back and waste them for being throbbing meatsticks. Sadly, this is apparently against the rules.
Seriously, if we had people abusing the demands, where they ask 5 mil, get paid, then ask another 20 million just so they could blue the trader, then we can punish them via the rule regarding harming server gameplay. There was, imho, no reason to actually add a rule like that. It makes traders immune to a very specific set of RP consequences which tend to happen more often than you might think.
Discuss.

I personally dont do this, and my characters tend to be pretty nervous during a pirate encounter until the pirate is off scanners, then they just count their blessings and keep going.
I am yet to hear someone being sanctioned for making one RP demand, that can be fulfilled without getting blown up.
I often interrogated my targets and then asked for smaller credit demand than I would have originally. So far I was not sanctioned for that. Some members of my faction also demand to state something on system-wide channel. No frustration from that either.
And the fact that some players are not used to be asked to perform a task might do something with the fact most criminals only demand cargo or credits with little of intention to do anything more original. Or the fact that some traders are just dumb and have no idea what roleplay is.
Well... i'm actually, the kind of pirate that negotiates with Traders. The only ones i shoot at are probably the ones that dont respond and try to continously cruise away avoiding interaction. But then they reply either with "Wtf i was afk" (ye lol that one was funny, he even turret steered around trying to run) or "y u shoot me, what have i done".
But i must say i rarely get insulted, most of people are pleased with my RP
i usually demand fair prices which they mostly pay around 2-3 mill and i also negotiate as i dont have cargo to collect 4k of ore for expample
i started to almost instand shoot guys which dont stop and reply as its a RP server - however i dont like shooting them at all
i also have to admit that a trader who paid me once isnt safe from me... i began demanding second or third payments when they start saying some llike f-pirate - get a real ship coward or some like that
i also dont pirate everyone ... when someone shows great RP from the start i sometimes dont want anyhing at all
usually people like my RPbut sometimes guys dont as the literally say 'i dont pay criminals'
If traders don't want to comply with my RP demand ( i mostly cargo pirate tho, cuz i'm an asshole) then boom they go. Next time they will happily comply .
If they talk smack after they comply, i talk smack back. I don't get all , hey you insulted me, i will kill you. I mean in the encounter the pirate has the upper hand already, traders can at least be left with the option of speaking their minds without more consequences, after they've been pirated.
I understand that there should be RP consequences for talking smack at a pirate, but yeah i dunno.
I mostly warn them that next time i see them i will put them through hell. If they stop being a smart-ass then it's cool, if not then, well, next time they go boom.

making more demands after your initial demand is fulfilled? thats questionable at best, sanction worthy at worst.

No it is no.
If you get insulted after you let go your prey, you go out of your way to show the smartass trader that he is in the bottom on the food chain.
It's worse to use rules as a shield and sword, rather than simply going for genuine and realistic roleplay.

Quote:3.3 Aggressors are not allowed to issue further demands during the same encounter after the trade vessel has complied, or destroy a trade vessel prior to issuing a demand, in system or local chat. "Halt" on its own is not a demand, however, a trade vessel can be destroyed if they refuse to stop after being asked to in the form of a proper demand.
