The Problem is simple. The game and connection works fine, until I get a random redlag-Icon, that continues to stay there until the game finally kicks me from the server. The issue hasn't been there the last months, and actually appeared just today. It reminds me of the connection issues I had over a year ago though, they looked amazingly similar.
Since something changed with my network connection over the night (Living in a student dorm) I suspect the problem is on my side, but I can't check personally since I have no access to the router. Is it possible that the firewall closes an open connection for some reason/that the provider has issues with the Server?
I highly doubt it is a firewall/port based issue, some OS information would be great anyways. You could try the following ;
Code:
Step 1: Press Windows Key + R to open up Run dialogue box
Step 2: Type in CMD and press enter to Open up Command Prompt
(Alternativele to to Open Command Prompt you Can Press Windows key + X and click on Command Prompt Admin)
Step 3: You will see Command prompt is now open, Now Simply Type the Below Highlighted Command as it is and press enter.
netsh winsock reset catalog
Step 4: Once the Above Command is Executed, Now Reboot your PC. There should not be any issue now.
Also make sure that you've added the discovery folder to your AV exception list/allowed outgoing/incoming Freelancer connection(s) in your Windows Firewall 8|. Double check defender if necessary.
If you've tried the above and it didn't work, I would suggest reinstalling the game with bloom and see if it helps, it looks like more a client sided issue to me, not the router tbh.
And however, if it should not have worked, I would like to know ;
Code:
- Are you still able to access an internet site after the red-lag icon appears, just alt-tab to check this.
