I killed a player, when they werent anywhere near me

Right, i was just doing a mission, as my Order character (Exoduster) when i saw the message "Core|Ray was killed by Exoduster (Gun)", like he wasnt even near me, if you are reading this Ray i dont honestly know what happened, But if anyone does know what happened please tell me, because I dont have a clue, And another wierd thing is that it was a core character out of all charcaters!! :/

it happens when you are both doing missions and the npcs kill the other pc, and then you kill an npc, you get the message. when you dock on the base again, the bug/glitch/feature disappears. afaik only you can see that message.
