At present POBs consume Food Water & Oxygen on a 10 hour cycle. From any perspective this is an unhelpful figure. Though my prime point is it bears no resemblance to the cycle of Our lives and creates a slight disjuncture.
The solution is simple, just change it to 8 hours. Then it will be much simpler to fit our lives around them. Other possibilities are 2, 4, 6, 12 or 24. The amount consumed could be adjusted if it varies much from 10 hours, but a straight 10 to 8 swap would be worth the little extra effort it would take.
I agree on that, even though I do not possees or maintain POB. Using 10 hours in 24 hour system is pretty flawled and ineffective on a long run. Let's do with 8 hours, which makes it 3x8. 12 hours would be also good, but choice between prolonging or shortening the time belongs to the community.
Actually, it would make more sense to use 8 hour. You know, there are three shifts per 8 hours each in work - usually. Let's say... water and oxygen is just counted at the end of every shift or something.

how will it make it harder to do so? you didn't understand the original posters idea did you
making the time change will help in working out whats needed, in a 24 hour timezone we have

it'll be easier to calculate it all.
It's basically saying it will consume base supplies in less time which means a faster rate of consumption. A faster rate of consumption means more base supplies would have to be supplied. More feeding the base. More work.
