It is with the deepest condolences that I must notify you of the tragic passing of one your treasured own. Minori Rei was sighted over Planet Tomioka by one of our pilots, my son Shirou, engaging a Farmers Alliance fighter and KNF fighter in the upper troposphere. She was shot down by the FA pilot, and no ejection was seen from the craft as it was engulfed in a fiery explosion. He was forced to eject during the skirmish, and saw the fighter wreck, along with what could be found of Rei's remains. We have sent what we could salvage to you in order to administer her rights. We are extremely sorry for your loss and will mourn her passing as you do.
Reception of the Masayume's remains have been made and the post mortem analysis has been completed. Thermobaric charges have been affixed to the few remains of the C5-F that could not be directly extracted without exposing the ground team. Remains were spread over a five mile truncated diamond from the initial impact site, spread by a significant tailwind. Cause of death appears to have been a mixture of extensive lacerations from the fragmentation of the canopy, shrapnel from the canopy itself received to the face and upper torso, and significant thermal shock and organ damage from the explosion. Damage is consistent with the proximity detonation of nonpenetrative tactical nuclear ordinance. The fighter appears to have retained propulsion for up to twelve seconds after the death of the pilot, followed by the secondary detonation of the fighter's munitions bay, consistent with the fighter's standard integrated dead man's device. The corpse was dismembered by this final blast and projected from the canopy as debris. Recovery of the the tertiary FDR movement reveals that commander M.Rei fought with honour befitting her kin sisters in the line of duty, and died honourably protecting S.Shimazu when he requested assistance against the combined pilots of the Farmer's Alliance's three hundred and forty third fighter squadron and an operative of the Kusari Naval Forces. Telemetry data reveals that M.Rei flew exceptionally and conducted herself valiantly before unfavourable circumstances. She has been posthumously awarded with the yellow star and the Empress's seal will line her coffin.
Due to the mutilation of M.Rei's remains, the Sister will be given a burial in space, rather than a funeral pyre. Eventually the orbit of her coffin will merge with the celestial fire that keeps Tomioka oh-so-vital and full of life.
May we all one day seek to share the eye of heaven with her.
We bless the Bakufu for their humanitarian endeavours in notifying the Sisterhood of Dreams so promptly, and their diligence in securing the crash site from the forces of the nemesi.
