Personal Log of Captain Mark "Bull" Mclain
>>Zoner Mining Ship 21<<
>>>Entry 85<<<
Today we began our search of the nearby asteroid field in the %4eafh (data corrupted) system for valuable mineable minerals. We did not have much luck, but while scanning the field, we found the wreckage of a corsair gunboat at the edge of the field, looking as if it had flown in from empty space (what a corsair gunboat was doing out there we have no idea) I personnally went aboard with several of my best men, all of us armed and ready for a fight, but not for what we found. Onboard, we found several dead corsairs, half of them looking like they had died of starvation, and the rest obviously having been killed. Upon checking the data and sensor logs, little sense could be made of the corrupted data, but it looked like the ship had gone of course, possibly awol from a corsair raiding party. Upon reaching the ships brig, we found the quarters the corsairs used to keep their slaves. We found mostly more corpses, but we found one man, in a corsair outfit, chained up in one of the cells. From his unintelligable ramblings, i deduced that he was mad, and from the chains, he must have been a slave, possibly a corsair who had fallen from grace, or perhaps they just ran out of clothing for the slaves. We took the poor wretch onboard, as we believe in the right of all slaves to be free, and salvaged the ships fuel, weapons and shields, and returned to the station for a good nights sleep.

<<<ZONER MINERS MURDERED>>>
This morning, the captain of Zoner Mining Ship 21, and 3 members of his crew were found murdered in the ships quarters, in the station hangar bay. The ship had just returned last night from an explorative mining foray, and had reportedly retrieved an insane and starved slave from the wreckage of a corsair gunboat.. This former slave has now been reported missing, and is suspected of these murders. Also, station security and medical professionals are unsure as to what happened to several quarts of the blood of one of the murdered crewmembers, navigation officer Julia Smith. From the gashes on her forarms, it appears as if the blood was stolen from her body, and carried away in several cryo storage units stolen from the ships med bay. Any zoners who sight this suspect should exersize caution. A starflier has been reported missing from the freeports ship dealership, it may be related.
