Some say that boredom can be cured, others say that it can never end. For some, it simply drives them to the point of insanity. For the little boy in the zoner explorer, this was the case. He had been out there for atleast 6 weeks, and was running dangerously low of dehydrated foods. His face was full of dried tears and scorn. He looked at primus, and then at gammu, wondering which place had really given him the blessing of birth, or in his case, the fate of birth. All he could remember past that 6 week period is having a large metallic arm come down and poke a needle into his brain, and when he awoke, he was on this destroyed zoner explorer. He had no idea what his name was, how old he was, or why he was there. All he wanted is to be entertained. He stared at gammu, and then at primus for a last time, before he fell asleep.
When he awoke he was sitting in a very comfortable chair onboard an unknown vessel.
"Heh dare b'y, you ben sle'pin' fer a wil' n'w," said the voice of the vessels captain.
"Who...who are you," the boy asked.
"Meh? I jus b' a slavr b'y, David Ahrens 't ya sevi'c b'y," said David.
"Right.... where are we headed?" the boy asked.
"Weh Malt'i e cors'," said David.
"Whats.... Malta?" asked the Boy
"Ya' s' whin we g't der," said David
The boy fell asleep, listening to the disturbing tune of David's song:
"Takin' dem b'ys ta malt'i!"
When the Boy awoke he was lying on a bed. A man in a store suit was looking at him. "Wake up.... it's time for your training, Volatilis Fatum...."
He was pulled from his bed by the man and taken down a long hall to a room. In the middle of the room was a giant machine with a screen infront of it. The machine was a chair with some large wires above it hooked up to what looked like a ancient computer. He was placed on the chair, and latched to it. The wires where brought down and connected to his brain by a special helmet which the wires where connected to. The screen turned on....
"You need to kill, kill them all, don't kill Outcast, kill the corsairs, kill the lawfuls, don't kill us." He was kept here two weeks looking at the screen having the words engraved on his brain. Food was delivered and manually put into his body. His face was completely blank. After two keeps the screen changed and math, reading, complications, tactics where all put up on the screens. I believe, myself, that this machine was not just a chair and a screen, but something that would actually change his behavior, and his smarts. He watched that screen for 34 years, not knowing what to do. In his mind though, something was like a ticking time bomb that the outcast hadn't expected in this new kind of mind behavior changing technology, boredom. It was only the boy's, or perhaps we should call him, Volatilis, boredom that would set him free, free from this prison the outcast were trying to create around his mind. 34 years of the same words, same lessons, same speeches that popped up on the screen not only built his brain, but his boredom, which in the end, would kill many.
"They're coming!" screamed outcast commander, Arkust Derrickson.
A flock of outcast came running out of there houses and jumped into their ships. They took off right out of Planet Malta, right at the corsairs. The final man to get into his ship had a smug smirk on his face, Volatilis Fatum, or as most had called him "The Flying Doom." He took off in his code name loaded sabre, and darted towards the large corsair cruiser. Behind him he could see the large green planet malta, and infront, the fleet of 39 corsairs. A vast array of blue and red flooded the Alpha skys and smashed into the hulls of corsairs, and outcast. Volatilis dodged the lasers and fired a burst of 2 Wildfires, 2 Diamond backs, and 2 Krackens. He shot down a corsair bomber, and damaged two fighters. Then out of the blue, a swarm of 5 corsair fighters came around the side of malta, and ravaged his shields with a rain of Tizonas. His shields failed, but the final blow had not come to him. He turned around and blasted the oncoming fighters with the codenames. His attempts where futial, as a corsair gunboat came out from behind a large corsair cruiser that was destroying much of the outcast fleet. Volatilis had to act, he launched his tiny sabre into the face of the ship, and was able to fire 4 bursts of his codenames, right into the flight deck of the ship. The front end of the cruiser exploded, but the blast hit Volatilis. His ship was thrown onto Malta, and he flew down like a meteor right into the Maltaneise bar.... Everything went black... but something happened in that almost dead sleep, something cracked up there... maybe it had been his skull... i KNOW it had to have been his boredom, that had been built up his whole life. Finally, he was going to be free.
"Sir... are you alright?" Said the Malta bar tender.
"Why.... I've never been better...." said Volatilis as he stared at the bar tender.
Volatilis felt his back pocket and took out a small knife.
"Come here... i have a secret to tell you," Volatilis sneared.
The bar tender walked up to him. Volatilis lunged at him, and sunk his knife into the bar tenders belly.
"Death... is the verdict..."
Volatilis let go of him and the bar tender fell to the ground. Volatilis grabbed the bartender and hide him in the crater his ship had made. Luckily no one was at the bar, otherwise Volatilis would have been killed immediatly. For the first time in his life, Volatilis smiled at the sight of the dead bar tender. He ran off, into the ship garage under the bar. He looked all over for a sabre, and then spotted one. He ran over to it, and jumped in. A ship start up password came up. Volatilis using his advanced brain skills, made a random list of passwords in his mind. He looked at the id for the owner of the ship, it said, Derrickson. The list of passwords
in his mind was narrowed to two, Jacky, the commanders son, and Martha, his wife. He tried Martha, his password was denied. He tried Jacky, and the ship started up. He took off, and blasted out of Malta.
2 weeks later a search was put up for Volatilis and the bar tender, neither was found. Then after about 2 days of searching, they found the bar tender in the crater, and said that he was murdered by an insane bar user. Volatilis on the other hand, was said to be kidnapped by the insane bar user. But infact, he was in texas, destination, Buffalo Base.
He looked out the window of buffalo base's bar. After 2 weeks of living at buffalo, his technology had finally arrived.
"Um... is a mister... Fatum here?" Said a zoner smuggler.
"Why that's me!" yelled fatum.
"Yes i have your supplies up by your room, do you have my pay?"
"Why yes, up in my room, why don't you come up there?"
They walked up a long hall and into a very small door, which lead to a key card activated door. He took out his card, and swipted it in the slot. The smuggler grabbed the supplies by the door and dragged it in. Volatilis went to a small box and told to smuggler to come get his money. As the smuggler approached, he turned and lunged a knife, the same knife he used to kill a bar tender all that time ago, into his heart.
"Enjoy your pay, and thank you.." Volatilis sneared.
He took the body and threw it under his bed. He took the technology, and removed it from it's box. It was a large transmission collecter, able to track the speech of anyone in the system. It was also capable of opening public records, by tracking the speech sample. He hooked it up, and a stream of messages came in. He tracked over 1,000 people that day, and opened 823 personal records. He recorded it all, and took some more. Over the span of 2 weeks he learned the tactics, the ways, and the people of new york, and new what he could do. Then he picked up a strange transmission from a ship called the, "Mon'Star." His face lit up, it was his hero, the mass terrorist Mon'Star, in new york! He ran from his room to his sabre. He took off and traced the signal to the ship. There he was, in an outcast destroyer, his hero, Mon'Star.
"Lord Mon'Star, i wish to assist you in your rein of terror." Volatilis said in his best voice.
"Agreed... for now.." said Mon'Star.
They flew around new york, murderering hundreds of civilians for hours. Then.... it happened. They were over looking Fort bush, being hunted by the new york police, when Mon'Star opened fire on Volatilis. Luckily he survived, but he was sevrely injured. He was able to make it to Buffalo, and sent one message to all of new york.
"All though he attacks me, i still worship him!" screamed Volatilis, before he landed back on buffalo.
Back on buffalo, he finally knew what he had to do. He had to wipe them all out... He had to kill all the populations, it was the only way for him to be happy. Seeing Mon'Star gave him the answer. The only thing that entertains his mind, is killing. Infact, he was in love with death...
He said to himself, "From this day forward, my main goal in life is to wipe out everyone, nomad, human, robot all, until i am the happiest man in the world..." He smiled, for he knew, that it was time for him to finally, be completely happy, in the form of a giant massacre.
So you tell me, does boredom really drive those into madness who have to endure it for so long. I think, Volatilis Fatum, is the perfect..... example of that...
"Enjoy your guns mollys," Fatum said with a smug smile.
Almost 3 years had past since his mind had snapped, now he was sane, for now.
He looked at the long Dublin sun through the windows of his Rogue Gunboat, wondering what his days would have been like if he had went on a mad rampage, shameful he suspected. Fatum just wanted a good home, maybe a family. He had managed to supress the 34 years of training the Outcast had engraved in his mind, for now, he would just explore in his gunboat. He turned his cruisers and checked his map. He decided maybe omega 49 today? Heh, those Zoners loved him, even after killing that large Zoner destroyer..... Was that ever a scene, one little sabre blowing up an entire destroyer. He neared the jumphole to omega 49, and jumped. He entered a vortex of swirling blue and white, and then it ended and he was in a vast blue clouded area. Omega 49..... he thought to himself, it had always been one of his favorite places to go. He saw planet, oh what was it called, he couldn't remember... All he knew was he was probably going to get drunk at the local bar and do some Zoner chick, like usual... He neared the mooring fixture.
"Please percede."
He docked.
As the ship landed on the hard ground, it reminded him of the first time he'd landed on Malta, that day he'd been rescued by a Maltanese man. He stepped onto the cold hard ground and took a glance at the bar. That would do. He walked up a long set of stars and opened an automated door. Inside there was about 3 people, all Zoners. But wait, there was a 4th, a short man with a..... was that a robe? He raised an eyebrow, and walked over to him.
"Hello sir, how are you?" Fatum said.
"Ahahahaha..... so your the one aren't you?" Said the man in the robe.
"I... I don't understand."
"Come... with me."
The man got up and ran out of the bar, down a hall. Fatum followed. At the end of the hall the man looked at Fatum with gleaming eyes and pointed at a normal wall.
"Do ye trust me?" Said the robed man.
"Y....yes?" Fatum stuttered.
The man pulled out a plate and pushed it against the wall. The wall suddenly opened revealing a cavern.
"Down the tunnel." Said the robed man.
Fatum put his foot on black rock and slowly walked in. As he walked it just got weirder, all along the sides of the cave where rows and rows and rows of candles. The cavern opened up to one large room with a stairway leading up to a large altar. Behind the altar a strange symbol the looked like a sun with a circle around it, was burning! But that wasn't the strangest part. On the altar, was a women chained to it, sceaming.
"Walk up the stairs," Said the robed man disconnected.
Fatum by some odd force did as he said. He walked up the stony steps until his eyes met the womens, although, the women had none.
"HELP ME!!!" Yelled the women.
"Consume her flesh..." Said the robed man.
The same strange force made Fatum lean over, take her hand, and bite it. Blood gushed from the bite all over, the women screamed as her revealed bone felt the air of the cave.
"Good.... NOW CONSUME HER ALL!" Fatum wide eyed, not knowing why he was doing this, went down, and took another bite.
The Altar was empty, covered in blood and bones. Fatum sat on one of the steps, his face scorched with horror, he had just EATEN a women, yet he did not feel guilty. The man in the robe was on the other side of the room near a wooden shelf, he was reaching inside it trying to grasp something.
"Here it is..." Said the man.
He stepped towards Fatum, Fatum tried to back away but his muscles froze were he was, too scared to move an inch. The robed man was holding a small vial with some purple mixture inside. He stood directly infront of Fatum.
"Stick out your tongue," The robed man howled.
Fatum stuck his tongue out as far as he could, knowing slightly what was going to happen. The robed man opened the vial and poored the entire mixture over Fatums blood drenched taste buds. It burned his tongue, and Fatum tried to pull it back in, but like a statue it stayed, frozen. Finally the burning stopped, but the color of his tongue had turned a dark blue/purple.
"What.... is this?" Asked Fatum.
"I will show you... stay," Said the robed man.
The man went over to the wooden shelf again, and grabbed a group of papers out with a picture of a burning sun on the cover. He walked over to Fatum, and slammed the papers onto his lap.
"Read, and learn your fate," Said the robed man.
Fatum read the first Chapter..
Chapter 1: The Book of Living
Hello, if you are reading this, you have just stepped into another life, a better life. I am Heptus Vilcamere, or
The Reliever, as you will call me. We lived on planet Heptainus, in the Rendox system, were i ruled the civilization. We had been in a planet wide battle agenst a resistance for nearly 17 years. I had been researching the human senses and brain, and was close to a break through. I had almost developed a weapon that would make the resistance turn on each other, make them attack each other, EAT each other....
I failed. It was the prototype of my master weapon that started it all, i was going to test it on a large resistance base near, Clordostein, our capital. The weapon emitted a purple vapor that was to be consumed into the lungs, which traveled into the brain and promoted ideas of "Cannibalism." Sadly, the weapon broke down as i began to fire it up, and i instead consumed the purple gas, then i passed out. When i awoke i was in a bed in the Clordostein central hospital, being treated for "Mass Illusions." I did not know if the gas had worked or not, but i would soon find out. A nurse entered the room, and went down to put some food for me, she looked delicious. She lefted the room, and i quickly lunged for the food. I attempted to eat it but... I just vomited everytime it touched my lips. The nurse entered the room again, this time carrying water. I hid my vomit and invited her over by my bed. As she neared me, i swiftly grabbed her and pulled her towards me. I took one of her fingers and bit it, she tried to scream but i covered her mouth. I continued to bite flesh off her body, until her entire back was gone. Blood drenched the floors, the sheets on my bed, and my mouth. A doctor was coming down the hall, and i had one choice, i had to flea. I took refuge in a near by cave under Clordostein, which was lit with rows and rows of candles. I slept quietly on a large rock one night, and a vision came into my brain. It was a vision of a robed man with a blood drenched face, giving me instructions, telling me to do... things. That man in my vision is our creator, he was god. He told me to start a cult, worshiping him. He told me that we would not each anything.... but human flesh. He told me to build a large altar in the cave where humans would be devoured, and a set of stars leading up to it. He then showed me a vision of a symbol, a Burning sun with a circle around it, he told me it was him. I made this symbol on and behind the altar. He told me to get more members, so i obeyed. I chose the best 32 men i could fine, and infected them all with the purple vapor. I then told them about the robed man, they listened and followed. Then, was the forming of the cult. We stole a 19 year old girl from Clordostein, and strapped her to the altar. We tore her eyes from her head, and feasted on her. All 32 men who feasted on the girl where sworn into the Cult.... the Heptus Cult of Cannibals which I called it by Gods request. We slowly, together recruited more, and those unwilling to join, we ate. Soon, have we had 78 members, but the population of Clordostein had reduced to half. Then, it happened. The resistance had developed a gigantic bomb, capable of blowing up the entire planet. The cult and its 78 members developed a giant sleeper ship called the "Burning Heart." We took off from the planet and went off in a random direction, towards the brightest star. The ship had been designed to break apart into 78 seperate parts, which would be scattered across the system they were heading to. It did so, and we were all scattered across this new system we had encountered. I myself landed on a odd planet, which was inhabited by what looked like talking Hapriguy *(monkeys in english)*. I could not eat their meat.... I could not do anything. You reading the book have just been entered into the cult, welcome... enjoy the rest.
We stand for our god, our king Heptus, and the cult. We live and walk like no one else, we are special. We consume the flesh of those who oppose us, and those who leave us. We stand for the mighty capital of Clordostein and our beloved dead planet that we do not know about it's modern fate. We stand for the Cult, we stand for our God.
You as a Cult member are responsible to follow the above rules, and the above code. For we are the ones, the saviors, the leaders.
The Heptiainus language is long gone, the only sentence I can remember, being it our creed is: Bodosmi qil cavis don uek, qil supre don ustra, don ris gil Heptus Reto sin AlbastistFor the flesh we consume, the god we worship, we are the Heptus Cult of Cannibals!
Now i am sure you have all learned the new languages of this large system, I have written it in the language I've learned here, use a translator, to decode this.
Chapter 10: End Notes
I have told you our story, our rules, our goals, our creed, our language, and our planet. Now, take your knowledge, and make the Cult grow, expand, conquer. Enjoy this free lifestyle, and the human. flesh you consume in it, for it is the only food you'll ever eat again.
