Channel: Established
This is an internal channel for all Detroit Munitions communications. All Detroit employees and contractors can post flight reports or any questions, concerns, or proposals for further development here. Licensed Distributors can do the same - if you're a Licensed Distributor, you can only see relevant messages from Managers, the Director, and the Owner - if you're an employee or a contractor, you can't see any posts made by Licensed Distributors. The scope of this channel is fairly broad, so if you have any concerns whatsoever and can't get ahold of a Manager, then dump it here and somebody'll get back to you.
Voltolini here. Running into New York earlier, I encountered a pirate by the callsign of Little.Devil. They didn't ask for too much, though. Followed the standard procedure and got out alive with all cargo intact. Not like I had much of a choice, that bomber had me more'n a little worried, if I'm being frank. I'll upload the logs.
[20.03.2016 10:36:44] Little.Devil: ?: Hello there, hehe...let's talk a bit? *she smiles*
[20.03.2016 10:36:53] /DM/-Second.Amendment: Eka: Uh, alright.
[20.03.2016 10:37:01] /DM/-Second.Amendment: Though this cargo might not wait.
[20.03.2016 10:37:06] Little.Devil: ?: Urgh...what's this? Bacteries?
[20.03.2016 10:37:18] Little.Devil: ?: Thats...odd..
[20.03.2016 10:37:29] /DM/-Second.Amendment: Alien organisms.
[20.03.2016 10:37:40] Little.Devil: ?: Ehhh, those Planetform needs, I guess?
[20.03.2016 10:38:02] Little.Devil: ?: *she shrugs* Whatever..
[20.03.2016 10:38:04] /DM/-Second.Amendment: *shrug* I was told we use 'em for target practice. *she laughs*
[20.03.2016 10:38:13] /DM/-Second.Amendment: I don't rightly know what they're for.
[20.03.2016 10:38:16] /DM/-Second.Amendment: I just run the ship.
[20.03.2016 10:38:35] Little.Devil: ?: *she chuckles* Well then! I hope you don't mind...that getting those little aliens safely to whereever you want to go...
[20.03.2016 10:38:39] Little.Devil: ?: Costs a bit.
[20.03.2016 10:38:46] /DM/-Second.Amendment: I figure.
[20.03.2016 10:38:52] /DM/-Second.Amendment: How much are you after?
[20.03.2016 10:39:03] Little.Devil: ?: A small way tax, since I have no plan about their value...uhm, 500.000 credits?
[20.03.2016 10:39:12] /DM/-Second.Amendment: That's fair.
[20.03.2016 10:39:21] /givecash little.devil 500000
[20.03.2016 10:39:21] You have sent 500.000 credits to Little.Devil
[20.03.2016 10:39:22] /time
[20.03.2016 10:39:22] 2016-03-20 14:39:30 SMT
[20.03.2016 10:39:25] Little.Devil: ?: Also, Universal...mhm, let's talk!
[20.03.2016 10:39:29] Little.Devil: ?: Thanks, Ageira.
[20.03.2016 10:39:32] /DM/-Second.Amendment: Not Ageira.
[20.03.2016 10:39:35] /DM/-Second.Amendment: Detroit Munitions.
[20.03.2016 10:39:41] Little.Devil: ?: Oh! My apoligizes then!
[20.03.2016 10:39:47] /DM/-Second.Amendment: Common mistake.
[20.03.2016 10:39:50] /DM/-Second.Amendment: Good day to ya.
[20.03.2016 10:39:54] Little.Devil: ?: Yeah..I guess, you too.
[20.03.2016 10:40:10] Little.Devil: ?: So...Universal? Let's talk a bit?
A little after, we tried to make the Kurile run, but got stopped by - apparently - Guildmaster Namura. Says that it's illegal by the Guild to take supplies to Kurile for... whatever reason. He was nice, understanding - escorted the Amendment back to Ogashawa, where we're moored now with our hold still full of a fresh batch from the plant outside Manhattan. I checked the GMG laws and he wasn't foolin'. The relevant section is 2.3. Whoever was plannin' the routes sure bunged this one up. We'll hold here and wait for orders, and offer to sell some product to anyone who seems curious - standard 18% markup, like usual. I'll attach my interaction with the Guildmaster in his gunboat below.
[20.03.2016 11:25:43] GMG|Bishamon.Maru: Good day, pilot. Please hold for routine inspection.
[20.03.2016 11:25:50] /DM/-Second.Amendment: Eka: Oh, hello.
[20.03.2016 11:26:09] GMG|Bishamon.Maru: Thank you for your cooperation. Your cargo is legal but of note, might I enquire as to your destination?
[20.03.2016 11:26:27] /DM/-Second.Amendment: This is headed to Platform 17-C on Kurile.
[20.03.2016 11:26:55] GMG|Bishamon.Maru: Ah, I see. Unfortunately, I must inform you that is a violation of Guild law to supply the Samura population of Planet Kurile.
[20.03.2016 11:27:29] /DM/-Second.Amendment: Is it? Well, I can phone into corporate and check and see if the end-buyer of these products is actually Samura or not.
[20.03.2016 11:27:39] /DM/-Second.Amendment: Plenty of folks stop by Kurile looking for supplies.
[20.03.2016 11:28:19] GMG|Bishamon.Maru: A fair point that I shall take on board, however, it cannot be guaranteed any supplies landing on Kurile will not be used by
[20.03.2016 11:28:22] GMG|Bishamon.Maru: Samura Industries.
[20.03.2016 11:28:30] GMG|Bishamon.Maru: I am afraid you may not proceed to the planet at this time.
[20.03.2016 11:28:38] /DM/-Second.Amendment: 'Oh.'
[20.03.2016 11:28:51] /DM/-Second.Amendment: Samura and the Guild have some beef, I take it.
[20.03.2016 11:29:27] GMG|Bishamon.Maru: The Samura occupation of Planet Kurile is currently considered illegitimate by The Guild.
[20.03.2016 11:29:31] /DM/-Second.Amendment: I'm afraid I don't keep up on edge world politics.
[20.03.2016 11:29:52] GMG|Bishamon.Maru: Of course, I understand. Our world is highly varied and the master of nuance. It would be impossible to know everything.
[20.03.2016 11:30:25] GMG|Bishamon.Maru: Perhaps you may have another buyer in mind for your cargo.
[20.03.2016 11:31:03] /DM/-Second.Amendment: Perhaps. To be honest with you, it's not a contracted shipment, so no real loss I guess.
[20.03.2016 11:31:17] GMG|Bishamon.Maru: I am glad this is not too much of an inconvenience. You have my apologies.
[20.03.2016 11:31:27] /DM/-Second.Amendment: Is it possible that Detroit Munitions could, I dunno, set up an arrangement with the Guild or something?
[20.03.2016 11:31:35] /DM/-Second.Amendment: Corporate won't be happy to hear about this.
[20.03.2016 11:32:01] [W]-"Jera".: Hello there.
[20.03.2016 11:32:02] GMG|Bishamon.Maru: That may very well be a possibility. Might you be able to recommend your superiors make contact with The Guild?
[20.03.2016 11:32:04] GMG|Bishamon.Maru: Good day.
[20.03.2016 11:32:27] /DM/-Second.Amendment: Yeah, I'll file a report about it.
[20.03.2016 11:32:50] [W]-"Jera".: *raises an eyebrow* DM?
[20.03.2016 11:32:52] GMG|Bishamon.Maru: Understood. We may yet be able to find some form of agreement.
[20.03.2016 11:33:01] GMG|Bishamon.Maru: Might I escort you safely to another destination?
[20.03.2016 11:33:06] /DM/-Second.Amendment: Can I ask the name of the captain of your vessel, so I can put it in my report?
[20.03.2016 11:33:23] GMG|Bishamon.Maru: Of course. My name is Keiji Namura, current acting Guildmaster for the Gas Miners Guild.
[20.03.2016 11:33:33] /DM/-Second.Amendment: Oh yeah, Detroit Munitions. We're extending our shipping operations as of late.
[20.03.2016 11:33:38] /DM/-Second.Amendment: So expect to see more of us, Cryer.
[20.03.2016 11:33:47] [W]-"Jera".: Oh. I wasn't aware Detroit had its own shipping fleet.
[20.03.2016 11:33:51] /DM/-Second.Amendment: Well, we do now.
[20.03.2016 11:34:07] /DM/-Second.Amendment: It's about half-and-half temporary contractors and actual employees.
[20.03.2016 11:34:13] [W]-"Jera".: Good to know.
[20.03.2016 11:34:32] /DM/-Second.Amendment: I have to say, I wasn't expecting to get stopped by the Guildmaster of the GMG themself.
[20.03.2016 11:35:02] GMG|Bishamon.Maru: Fortunately, I am not completely enslaved by desk work. It is good to be behind the controls of a ship, when I can spare time.
[20.03.2016 11:35:42] /DM/-Second.Amendment: I hear that. Not as if I'd have chance to fly a gunboat, but I've got this high-speed skiff on Manhattan as part of a timesh-
[20.03.2016 11:35:46] /DM/-Second.Amendment: Ah, that's not important.
[20.03.2016 11:35:51] /DM/-Second.Amendment: Is it alright if we moor at Ogashawa?
[20.03.2016 11:36:01] /DM/-Second.Amendment: Or would it obstruct the incoming traffic?
[20.03.2016 11:36:11] /DM/-Second.Amendment: I feel like corporate would wanna hear about this sooner rather'n later.
[20.03.2016 11:36:26] GMG|Bishamon.Maru: I am sure Ogashawa control would be happy to accommodate you and your ship. I will gladly ensure your safe travel.
[20.03.2016 11:36:34] /DM/-Second.Amendment: Much appreciated.
[20.03.2016 11:36:42] GMG|Bishamon.Maru: After you.
[20.03.2016 11:36:43] [W]-"Jera".: Safe travels then.
[20.03.2016 11:36:46] /DM/-Second.Amendment: Ciao, Cryer.
[20.03.2016 11:36:48] GMG|Bishamon.Maru: Good day, Cryer ship.
[20.03.2016 11:37:35] /DM/-Second.Amendment: I really oughta make a habit of coming through here more often.
[20.03.2016 11:37:38] /DM/-Second.Amendment: The Crow is beautiful.
[20.03.2016 11:37:59] GMG|Bishamon.Maru: If you find the time for recreation, I recommend a flight through the Okinawa system.
[20.03.2016 11:38:05] GMG|Bishamon.Maru: The clouds there are most serene.
[20.03.2016 11:38:30] /DM/-Second.Amendment: I'll keep it in mind. And hey, with this new transport-captaining gig, I might actually have the dough to afford it.
[20.03.2016 11:38:34] GMG|Bishamon.Maru: Just a polite note, for future reference, all Guild laws are published openly on the neural net.
[20.03.2016 11:38:54] /DM/-Second.Amendment: Right, I guess someone planning the routes must've overlooked that.
[20.03.2016 11:38:58] GMG|Bishamon.Maru: It happens.
[20.03.2016 11:39:07] GMG|Bishamon.Maru: Please accept my personal gratitude for your cooperation in this matter.
[20.03.2016 11:39:19] /DM/-Second.Amendment: Oh yeah, of course.
[20.03.2016 11:39:33] GMG|Bishamon.Maru: You are clear to moor at Ogashawa.
[20.03.2016 11:39:35] /DM/-Second.Amendment: Detroit wants to try and get along with folks when we can.
[20.03.2016 11:39:41] /DM/-Second.Amendment: Thanks for the escort.

Hello all!
Only got a short one for you today, but it's pretty important.
I was out flying with the Second Amendment, all ready to take some light arms to Bretonia, when we passed by a certain Cody Faulkner who offered to be our escort. Naturally, we hired him, and on the way out of Liberty we encountered a Lane Hacker bomber. Two freighters armed to the teeth against a bomber would be a piece of cake, right?
Wrong
The stupid escort flew away, and I lost a whole 235 units of my cargo.
So this is a little message just to let everyone know to blacklist Cody Faulkner from any escort duties.

Naomi reporting in. I flew with the Second Amendment today. It was calm, except for the pirates. The first group of pirates only asked for a lot of money, but the second pirate, he said something. After giving in to the extortion, he mentioned that Cody Faulkner says hello. I never met the guy, but I know the rest of you have. Thankfully the Quad Laser was around the corner, so I picked it up and went to question the scumbag that robbed me. I figured promising him freedom for information would be a good idea, and it turns out that Faulkner is working with pirates now. We might want to tell the LPI about this, possibly get clearance to hunt him down? I wouldn't mind digging my credits out of his ship's hull. He owes me now.

Huh. Interesting report, Naomi. I'll forward this to Grant and see if he's got any ideas. Pretty soon this Faulkner guy is gonna need his own drawer in the files. Anyone else who hears anything about Faulkner, be sure to post it here, even if it seems inconsequential - anything we can use to keep tabs on this guy, who he works with, where he flies, whatever.

Mr. Franklin was unable to provide a recorded response suo voce, however, upon hearing your remark about allocating precious filing cabinet space for Faulkner, Mr. Gatz, he said "forget the drawer! Get the bastard a headstone!" and promptly marched out of the office. Per the spirit of his reaction, I've begun looking into a way to resolve the Faulkner issue.
After all, what do we need a file for when we could keep track of him with a tally mark on a fighter fuselage?

Voltolini here, with one for the higher-ups. My run started off pretty bland - launched off the Junkyard with a load of aluminum bound for Scarborough, then some fuel for the hop-over to Graves, and gold back home to D-Town. Simple enough. Things stopped being so simple when I came into California.
First thing I saw was a Hacker by the name of Vladimir.Scorpius in a Waran blowing up a Universal transport. In compliance with policy, I waited for him to issue a demand, as these scum are wont to do, but it seemed he just wanted me to meet the same fate. Thus began the longest eight minutes of my god damn life. I managed to get within LA's atmosphere, at which point the planetary defense grid kicked in. Thank god our warehouse there had some spare pants. I'll finish shipping this load of gold later, to hell with the schedule. I need some coffee. Logs attached.

[13.04.2016 01:52:17] /DM/-Second.Amendment: Well, that's a way to be greeted.
[13.04.2016 01:52:22] Vladimir.Scorpius: Now what do we have here. Another flunky.
[13.04.2016 01:52:37] /DM/-Second.Amendment: No flunky.
[13.04.2016 01:53:02] Vladimir.Scorpius: By the time I am done with you, you will be flunking around

Oh yeah, someone should go out and check for the pods of the crew of the Arcata, too. They'll be right by the Cortez gate, unless that Hacker bastard returned to finish 'em off after I got away from him, but I'd hate to hear about such an eventuality. Anyway, this is Voltolini out.

Eka, I've asked our Maintenance department to fly a repair ship out to Los Angeles to give your transport a thorough repair and checkover. Accounting will wire some money to you for lodging until it's repaired and you can fly again. In the meantime, we're going to see about dealin' with our dear friend Mr. Scorpius. Caroline is preparin' a broadcast out to bounty hunters in Liberty, and we'd like to know if you have somethin' you want the mercs to tell him.

Much obliged, Grant. As for Scorpio whatsit, just have the goons let him know that liberty always wins. Hopefully he'll get the message - not like it'll matter when he's just charred space-debris.
