Evenin' folks,
We've just managed to offload the client we spoke about in Kepler onto Ames Research Station's hangar bay, along with his medical records and the footage we discussed previously. In this comm channel, I've decided to refer to him as "John Doe" to preserve his identity among those who might be listening. Just a precaution I like to use, a personal habit of mine when we're talking about very sensitive cases like this. Anywho, I'll be transmitting the files now. Here's what I could salvage from the medical report:
Ryuku Base Medbay Report Case #701 - [REDACTED] Wrote:The following is a report given by Doctor [REDACTED] regarding Patient #701's condition following the attack by [REDACTED] on March 17th, 823 AS.
The subject appears to have sustained heavy damage to nearly every part of his body. It has been very difficult to truly estimate the extent of the damage without running into any complications, but from what we could tell, this is what we have been able to identify from his injuries:
- Extensive lacerations all along the torso, neck, and face. Lacerations vary in depth and damage. A number of these lacerations have penetrated his internal organs and have most likely caused severe damage to his respiratory, digestive, and cardiovascular organ systems.
- All four robotic limb prostheses torn apart and rendered inoperable. Extent of nerve damage difficult to estimate at this time.
- Left eye severed from socket, burns and cuts present around and inside socket. Right eye deemed fairly intact.
- Numerous minor lacerations on face. Left side of face sports deeper vertical laceration.
- Brain seems to have miraculously sustained little to no damage. Spinal cord status unknown. Concussions
The lighter amount of damage to his spinal cord and brain, despite multiple fractures, can be attributed to the cybernetic prostheses helping to reinforce the regions. Subject #701's chances of prolonged survival seem dubious at best. Even if he does manage to live, we lack the sufficient technology and resources to rehabilitate the patient and compensate for his injuries. We have fortunately stabilized his condition and are awaiting orders on what to do. Security protocol after [REDACTED]'s escape may prevent immediate aid. We will do our best to keep [REDACTED] alive.
This was really the most I could salvage from their report. It ain't much, but it's all I got on our mutual friend here. Hope it comes in handy. We'll be moored on Ames for a while before I need to move out and complete more runs. Gotta keep bread on the table somehow, you know? I'll be back later to assist with any financial or other considerations John Doe'll need my assistance for. Until then, I hope you guys are able to fix him up well.

Good evening Mr. Mariner -
We appreciate you bringing Mr. "Doe" t' our medical facilities aboard Ames. I was briefed about your meeting in Kepler, so am up t' date on the request given t' us. The medical report provided provides a clear picture regarding the info received, and I must say it is a miracle this man is alive at all. We have placed him in an ICU, where he is being kept sedated and in comfort.
As far as the procedure goes, this will be quite the undertaking. A complete rework of many of his vital systems as well as installing various augmentations, will not only take time and incur quite the cost, but some augments requested we would have t' develop from scratch. We can not promise a smooth transition, or if these systems will integrate into Mr. Doe's body without rejection. While we have been developing methods t' ensure the body accepts such non-organic material, it is not 100% guaranteed, as we are still in the prototype stages.
I believe you are aware of such facts, but they bear repeating, so there are no surprises one way or the other. For the time being, we will be begin with repairing the cybernetics already installed as well as minor surgeries t' repair the body before we begin. We do not want t' place the body on any more stress as it is, and we want t' have his body at peak performance given his state currently. After reading the medical report, our doctors are confident he should be ready within the week.
I will personally send you another comm when he is in a ready state t' begin. I'll be having another Scientist join us in this, a Dr. Hans Von Goeben, who specializes in Cybernetics and Augmentations, so if you hear from him at all, or see his name attached t' any of the logs, you'll not be caught off guard.

I appreciate the prompt response and the promise of future updates. In return, please let us know if there's anything you need fetched for the procedure to go off without a hitch or any miscellaneous errands we can do to make your operations easier. Maybe it'll go towards paying off some of the cost, who knows? Regardless, thanks for everything you've done so far.

Good day Mr. Mariner -
I am happy t' inform you that the procedure is under way, and we hopefully should be finalizing the surgical portion of the procedure with the next few days. We will of course let you know once the subject has been released from the Operating Room, and allow for visitation. He will need some weeks t' become acquainted with all we have done, but we are comfortable in saying this should take no longer than a month at most.
As t' the cost - While most of the research has been done regarding many of the cybernetic augmentations he'll be receiving, we have had t' hit the drawing board as it were on a few items, and have dedicated two full labs t' this. As such, the cost is quite high Mr. Mariner. We of course will work with you in establishing payment plans as well as adequate timing for final payment, but the estimated total currently is upwards of 750 million credits. I do not wish t' frighten you, but the cost of pioneering such advancements is high, though I do believe you had anticipated this when you spoke with our ambassador. As I said, I will be happy t' work with you regarding payment.

Good day Mr. Mariner -
It has been quite some time since we last spoke. Near 6 months I believe. I do though have some good news.
Our mutual friend is completely stable and is functioning beyond what would have been expected at this stage. He is moving freely about Ames, and is ready for departure at his and your convenience.
This project, which you can review the notes here, has been a stepping stone in what is possible with human augmentation. We would like t' continue monitoring your friend here, and have quarterly check-ins t' analyse his status if possible. Nothing major nor time consuming, I assure you.
Now, on t' cost. Due t' having multiple labs research various technologies as well as prototypes that are now residing within our friend, the cost has unfortunately exceeded expectations. We are now looking at a final cost of 875.000.000cr. I'll have my secretary contact you via private comms t' sort out payment.
Please let me know when you will be arriving at Ames, and we'll have a hanger bay reserved for your arrival.

Sorry about the delay, Mr. McCool. We've been tight-pressed with our schedule these past few months, and we really haven't been able to accommodate a stop by Ames until now. Now, as you know, the price tag of 850 million credits is beyond steep, so I can guarantee you there will be some negotiations on that front for sure. I'll be looking forward to seeing our mutual friend soon. We'll be at Ames by the end of tomorrow.
