Sender:Jean Biche Location:Medforce Mediplex Recipient:Vice-Chancellor Outer Rim University Subject:Professorial Chair
Dear Vice-Chancellor,
may we extend our warmest wishes in your recent endeavors at founding a seat of learning in the Omicrons.
From the steady stream of supply ships and ongoing building works now would appear a good time to approach you with an idea and an offer. We would like to help you succeed and to that end, subject to your ratification, we would like to provide a cash injection to help.
The proposal would be a cash donation with two foci:
Enough to establish a bursary fund to provide, in perpetuity, the stipend to enable the funding of a Chair in Darwinian Medicine. A post designed to extend and strengthen the links between clinical and basic research with a primary, aim to explore and understand the cellular basis of disease with an evolutionary perspective.
An initial funding sum to enable the incorporation and establishment, if your current plans allow, the construction of a research/teaching wing. This wing would allow the interdisciplinary collaboration between clinicians, geneticists, evolutionary biologist and bioinformaticians. This facility would complement our own more clinically orientated Medforce Mediplex facility with the aim to create a collaborative environment between clinical and basic research in order to foster new discoveries and clinical applications, and communicate our advances to the next generation of bioscientists.
We look forward to further discussion and hopefully we can bring this idea to fruition.
If unfamiliar with our medical work and ethos the following information may be of use Med Force Enterprises.

Greeting Mr. Biche,
my name is Dr. Prof. Eli Starkweather, honorary dean of the Outer Rim University and the director of nature science sector.
Anything I can say is, that your proposal is highly appreciated and very welcome. In fact, financial support and fundings are very needed. The whole university and the construction process are currently private financed only from the small lobby called the Zoner Consensus.
I am very pleased to accept the offer. I have to admit, the Outer Rim University seriously requires providing the fields mentioned in your proposal. However, do you seek to lead this wing? Our faculty currently doesn't contain experts and professors in these fields, but I heard that a friend of mine Dankien Moebus moved out for visiting Doc Holiday. A positive result of this meeting would be very practical.

Dear Professor,
that is very good news indeed, anything to push back the frontiers of medical science.
I will wire an initial sum to show good faith and dispatch [MFE]Aide.Medicale, one of our hospital ships, to the University. It would be helpful if you warn your docking master that this ship is inbound.
This meeting should help us consolidate the approach to this plan and allow detailed discussion.
Regarding the Professorial leadership for this wing, I am a field clinician at best not a research luminary so would not really be an authoritative figure to push this wing forward. Outstanding credentials will be needed to implement the overall vision, I am sure eminent researchers will make themselves know when the post is advertised.
Until that point I am happy to work with your team regarding some of the more logistical aspects of the project.

Greeting Mr. Biche,
I thankfully confirm the sum and looking forward to meet you in person and I can invite for one of the best coffee in Sirius at our refectory. I am pretty sure that the mooring point for vessels of higher mass will be ready, when your vessel will arrive.
In fact, if the development will continue as it does right now, it will be just about time high-class teachers and researchers will join, forming a department of medical profession.
