James Montgomery was born 756 AS, in a Jewish family on planet Manhattam, Liberty space.
770 AS, his family moved to Bretonia, trying to make better life. Living initially on Leeds planet, East Side, the family once more moved, two years later to planet Cambridge, where his father continued work as a software programmer.
Monty began work to help support his family at the age of 15, and later said of his childhood that it was a time of hard work, discipline, and decided lack of good times.
While attending John Marshall High School in Cambridge, where he graduated with honors in 775 AS, Monty held a full-time job delivering pizzas and sushi.
Early naval career:
Monty was commissioned as an Ensign after graduating 107th out of 540 midshipmen in 780 AS. While awaiting transportation to his first star ship, HMS-Kent, he spent a brief time on the destroyer HMS-Singapor, becouse Kent was out on a mission. He subsequently reported to the Singapor, where shortly after reporting aboard he had so impressed his commanding officer that he was made engineer officer despite his lack of rank or experience, and became the youngest engineer officer in the squadron less than 3 months after leaving the Naval Academy.
He next served on board the battleship HMS-Ark Royal before earning a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering by way of a year at the Naval Postgraduate School at Naval Academy, followed by further work at Cambridge University. At Cambridge University he met his future wife, Diana Masters, a Christian and graduate student in international law, whom he married in 783 AS. Shortly after marrying, Monty wrote to his parents of his decision to become Christian, remaining so for the rest of his life.
Fond of life on a small ship, and knowing that young officers in gunboat service were advancing quickly, Monty went to London planet, and volunteered of gunboat duty. His application was turned down due his age, at that time 27 years old. As fate would have it, he ran into his former commanding officer from the HMS-Singapor while leaving the building, who interceded successfully on Monty behalf. From 783-789 AS, Monty qualified for gunboat duty and command aboard gunboat HMS-Thames.
He remained on command of HMS-Thames until the Tau war broke out. At a surprise Kusari attack, 3 Bretonian battleships were heavly damaged, and Monty successfully located one of damaged battleships. After abandoning the damaged ship, Monty destroyed it, so Kusari could not get their hands on it.
While at active service, Monty became know as man who gets things done.
