I would guess, by the name of the sector, that the sleeper ships were aimed at the Sirius star system or around its whereabouts. The real Sirius system is 8.6 light years from Earth.
Is there a system in Disco that represents the binary system of Sirius? If there is, could they be renamed to Sirius A and B? If not, would it be worthwhile designating them in a future version?
EDIT: I would also like to add that Sirius is part of the Ursa Major Moving Group (UMMG) of about 220 stars. Though this prediction is old (1909) and contested due to the Sirius system being closer to the age of the Sun and is therefore too young to be part of the UMMG. It is now being investigated if there is a larger more scattered supercluster called the Sirius Supercluster.
The core of UMMG is 80 light years and its main bulk spans 18 light years with some streams stretching as far as 70 light years. Bear in mind that the UMMG is more of a group that has similar kinetics and elemental make up. Other groups and clusters intersect with it and even travel along with it. This leads me to think that all the systems in the Sirius sector must be in the same cluster or group. Otherwise some systems would be moving farther away affecting the topography of the Jump gates.
That is, I understand, it makes sense, I could go so far as to say that the DK would have made the jh structures in worlds with similar kinetics if holes have a specific distance requirement.
It does suggest a limitation to the DK's powers.
But, aside from that...its just cool, and I've nothing to add, though I want the conversation to continue. Keep posting information, Monk. Eventually I'll have valid questions and or additions.
Well, let us see, Sirius A and Sirius B have a distance from one another aprox. the same as the distance from the Sun to Neptune with a period of just over 9 Earth years. Sirius A is a hot bright blue star and Sirius B is a white dwarf though it is speculated that the stars were identical at one point until B consumed so much more dust that it was bumped up in class and therefore went red giant and then to white dwarf prematurely. The age of the system is about 200-300 million years which is about the same as the Sun. Other stars of its group would be of similar age and composition though it is possible that the system was nudged out of its original path and now tags along with the UMMG.
I always thought that Sigma-19 was Sirius. It's close to Kusari (an in-game rumor states that Sirius is near Kusari) and there's also the Luxury Liner Hawaii running around there.
Carlos Rivera: Corsair Brotherhood Pirate - Retired, shifted to Tripoli Shipyard's Research and Development engineering teams Anthony Cameron: Guild Core Bounty Hunter - Killed in Action, committed suicide after being trapped in Omicron Minor following its destruction Juan Ruiz: Outcast Ghost of Razgriz Pirate - Killed in Action, killed by the Sirius Coalition Revolutionary Army during Bretonian piracy raid Michael Winchester: Liberty Security Force Agent - Missing in Action, likely killed during Rheinland espionage mission or trapped in Rheinland Space Eric McCormick: Order Pilot - Retired, shifted to planetside training of new recruits

Oh...cool...never saw that rumor...I haven't ever looked...and won't have time today...are the stars in S-19 actually named other than the generic?
EDIT: Sigma 19 could make sense actually. Dust and gas is typical of binary star systems. The planet though...eh...Sirius is close enough for us to easily detect a planet there and none has been reported but it is a fictional game anyhow.
Wait...do we know how far the sector is from Sol? I thought the amount of time traveled in the sleeper ship is generally unknown. Heck maybe the real Sirius is the one that is farther away and the sleeper ships actually ended up at a closer system like Alpha Centauri.
