Entry 1.
Ok, today I'm starting a diary. Well, after what happened today, I decided I'd better.
Well, it was quiet when I went on my first couple of patrols. A few occasional smugglers making me want to get my hands on some of those cruise disruptors. However, my third patrol became much more interesting, and not in a good way.
I was in New London while Lt.Hobart, who was the other person on patrol at the time, was equipping his new challenger, when I recieved a report of that madman, Shade, in the Leeds system. He entered New London and as I started flying towards him, I recieved an order not to engage, while at the same time, the madman himself said that he had no quarrel with me. I followed him to Cambridge and found out why he had no quarre with me. Aparrently Lt. Hobart had called him and he had responded and headed all the way to Cambridge to kill or capture Lt.Hobart. Hobart took the worst of it, and his hull was heavily damaged when Shade decided to give him a chance to surrender. I was still under orders to not engage though, so despite wanting to help him, I couldn't. Then, something happened which made my blood run cold. A corsair cruiser came into visual range and sat there, less than 1K away, saying nothing, not responding to any communications attempts or anything. Luckily, more BAF arrived, including the Fleet Admiral himself. The corsair opened fire and so shade, who had managed to cause a critical computer error in Hobart's ship which disabled almost all of Hobart's systems, allowed him to use his antimatter cannon, while I supplied him with my entire store of nanobots and batteries, since he would be more useful. With them, he and the Fleet Admiral were able to take down the destroyer, although admittedly I helped a little using my ship's razor and mines. The Fleet Admiral then gave the order to engage, so I attacked along with the other BAF, and amazingly, Hobart managed to destroy Shade's ship, although the escape pod wasn't recovered. Hobart was given the Distinguished flying medal, which in my opinion he completely deserves.

Today was slightly calmer, had a few corsairs in Omega-3 and then a =CR= fleet "escorting" one of their trade ships heading through Leeds, but luckily a huge number of our brave BAF lads were around and so any conflicts were quickly sorted out, with ensign Trotter outdueling a corsair in a bomber. Unfortunately, my ship's power cable to the weapons systems was hit by an asteroid and so I'm on the Ark Royal until it's fixed
