Rear Admiral,
I'll skip the pleasantries, because I have a number of very, very pressing questions to put to you.
Yesterday evening, at approximately 2130 SMT, myself and one of your lieutenants, Layla Whitaker, undertook a routine recon and intelligence operation beyond the Alaska gate, following unverified reports from some of our sources in the area detailing a disturbance in the vicinity of West Point. As it turns out, the alerts seemed to mostly pertain to a Hellfire Legion battlegroup that was causing trouble, but we soon encountered a much more troubling issue.
A flight of Guardians flashing a corrupt IFF signal closed in from the direction of California, one of whose voices was quickly recognised as a Captain Emilia Young by your lieutenant.
Code:
[20.08.2016 21:32:01] D9|Charm: Young: Good evening.
[20.08.2016 21:32:13] D9|Vampire: Why hello there.
[20.08.2016 21:32:43] H|-Layla.Whitaker: That voice.. Captain Young? What are you doing here?
[20.08.2016 21:33:04] =LSF=Marisa.Marshall: That's one of yours, is it?
[20.08.2016 21:33:44] D9|Charm: Young: I am not sure if we should take a part in here.
[20.08.2016 21:34:35] H|-Layla.Whitaker: Marshall? What's your opinion?
[20.08.2016 21:35:02] =LSF=Marisa.Marshall: That ain't the agreed IFF code.
At first, I would have chalked up the transponder discrepancy to the recent changes Adenauer and the Directorate had us make. It's not unlikely that the modifications made in the past few days could have gone awry for some of our personnel, but that wasn't the only thing setting alarm bells off. The technology latched to some of those ships was- well, either Dartmouth has been making leaps and bounds behind closed doors, or there was already potential evidence of infestation. Furthermore, responses from the unidentified ships became sporadic, with long periods of radio silence occurring after each of our questions.
Code:
[20.08.2016 21:38:01] H|-Layla.Whitaker: Is that standard issue technology, Marshall..?
[20.08.2016 21:38:08] D9|Vampire: Sorry if it is messed up.
[20.08.2016 21:38:12] D9|Vampire: I'll fix it when we dock.
[20.08.2016 21:38:37] =LSF=Marisa.Marshall: Hard to tell, Whitaker. It's- it's similar to some of the stuff at Dartmouth, all right, but...
[20.08.2016 21:39:00] H|-Layla.Whitaker: Young? Where'd you get that ship equipment?
[20.08.2016 21:40:10] H|-Layla.Whitaker: Young? Anyone home? Hello?
[20.08.2016 21:40:26] =LSF=Marisa.Marshall: You got an awful quiet bunch of squadmates, Layla.
[20.08.2016 21:40:29] =LSF=Marisa.Marshall: I don't like this.
[20.08.2016 21:40:35] H|-Layla.Whitaker: I told you before about that...
At some point during the investigation of all targets present - there were at least four Guardians with various issues, some ranging from only a transponder issue to others which nearly fried my scanner array just trying to make sense of them - Captain Young and the rest of the unidentified wing set upon a group of Bounty Hunters, who until this point had been busy engaging a squadron of Legionnaires in close proximity to West Point. This, naturally enough, provoked a response from the Navy, although I'm not sure whether they were under the impression they were engaging our forces or total unknowns.
Code:
[20.08.2016 21:45:22] H|-Layla.Whitaker: You have some interesting agents too, Marshall.
[20.08.2016 21:45:24] =LSF=Marisa.Marshall: The hell's goin' on over there?
[20.08.2016 21:45:31] =LSF=Marisa.Marshall: Yeah, I'm beginnin' to wonder just -how- interestin'.
[20.08.2016 21:46:21] BHG|Mephistoles: LSF, we're under attack
[20.08.2016 21:46:23] 5th|John;Sader: Hunters need a hand?
[20.08.2016 21:46:25] BHG|Mephistoles: Please assist
[20.08.2016 21:46:33] 5th|John;Sader: I take that as a yes
[20.08.2016 21:46:34] 5th|John;Sader: Powering
[20.08.2016 21:46:40] 5th|Carl.Harrisford: Right on! Powering weapons!
Mine and Whitaker's suspicions were at breaking point by now, but the sudden appearance of two capital-class Nomad vessels codified things a little more. Obviously, the- the emissions, I suppose I'll call them, from the alien vessels have not done my flight recorder any favours, but the context is clear enough regardless. At this point, the unknown vessels began transmitting similar 'emissions', and from that point on the engagement involved both myself and Whitaker personally, rather than in just an observatory capacity.

[20.08.2016 21:49:58] =LSF=Marisa.Marshall: That's about all I needed to know.
[20.08.2016 21:50:06] H|-Layla.Whitaker: Kill it! Quick!
[20.08.2016 21:50:08] =LSF=Marisa.Marshall: Reactor to full. Going in.

The next relevant part of this extended incident comes after our return to Alaska, as Lieutenant Whitaker and I were discussing the recent operation prior to our signing off.
Code:
[20.08.2016 22:32:34] =LSF=Marisa.Marshall: By the way- that Captain Young- she connected in any way with a callsign like Iota? Iota Five?
[20.08.2016 22:32:54] H|-Layla.Whitaker: Erhh.. I'm really not sure. As much as I know, she's a relatively new addition from LSF itself.
[20.08.2016 22:33:11] =LSF=Marisa.Marshall: Wait, she's from our end?
[20.08.2016 22:33:11] H|-Layla.Whitaker: Was recruited when I was on a mission detached from Harmony.
[20.08.2016 22:33:15] =LSF=Marisa.Marshall: Nobody told me that.
[20.08.2016 22:33:16] H|-Layla.Whitaker: Yeah, she is.
[20.08.2016 22:33:41] H|-Layla.Whitaker: She transferred from the LSF, as much as I've heard. I don't know, might be rumours.
Rear Admiral, I'm sure you're already aware, but Captain Young has not returned from her latest patrol. Her current whereabouts are unknown, and any attempts I've made to hail her via the neural net haven't been answered. I need you to pass Emilia Young's file on to me urgently, because - to be blunt - it looks as if at least one of your battlegroup's pilots has become compromised, and further actions need to be taken ASAP to ensure that the situation doesn't escalate to a level where it will become impossible to contain.
Lastly, I also need to know if this Captain Emilia Young has ever been associated with the callsign Iota Five.
Unfortunately, my guncam evidence is largely corrupted - likely due to electrical interference on the part of the Nomad major nodes - and I only had a bit of luck salvaging what I could from the recordings. Access it here.

My dear admiral, Agent Marshall,
I am currently located at the medical bay of Chicago. My rescue pod did not ejected in time, so I got a lot of heavy injuries and sadly will have to spend at least few more weeks here. It's a shame that I'm here in those decisive moments, but at least I am alive and able to speak. I will explain everything that happened right now and I hope it will answer your questions.
One week ago I have receive the proposition to repay my 'crimes against the Republic' and 'help to restore the constitutional order'. Basically I was proposed to defect and help out the Navy in exchange for my 'crimes' are being forgiven and a finacial reward of 50 000 000 Sirian Credits. I was afraid to spread the information about this offer around, because I didn't know who else can be a traitor. I've decided to act on my own initiative and get into into an enemy ranks to learn more about them, their plans and their tactics.
I understand that my actions are fall under the definition of treason, and I am ready to be demoted or suspended from the service. In my excuse I can only say that I had the best intentions and desire to help our cause. I've provided them with the false information about the relocation of our forces, so they did several ambushes on nothing, wasting their efforts. Sadly I did not managed to learn that much as I wished to.
First of all, the wing that Agent Marshall and Lt. Whitaker have met was intend to fake the LSF agents and engage the torrorist acts agains the civilians. As the relust, our enemies would be able to launch a large media campaign against our forces. I did not expect to meet you out there, but obviosuly I wasn't able to talk to you and explain everything with those people around. Speaking of which, the same happened with Iota-5 back in the day. It was the same provocation long before the recent escalation of this conflict. Seems like their tactics is not improving for a long awhile now.
Agent Marshall, I don't blame you for attacking my vessel, I have no right to do it. We all have tried to perform our duty then the best we can. I if I would be at your place out there I would act the same.
Apparently one of the Admirals who wasn't under their control, Jack O'Neil was killed by them. He was mentioned as 'one of the few undesirable elements within the Liberty Navy' in one of their conversations. My wording can be incorrect, but the sense was really close to it. I was planning to ran with this Avenger and with all of the equipment on it, but unfortunately it was destroyed by Agent Marshall and some Bounty Hunter. Day before I've stole one thing from the other vessel, it's being registered by now and soon will be transfer to Kodiak for a proper research by the LSF.
Also I am transfering you money that I got from them, I don't need them. You shall use them in order to reach our goals.
That's pretty much all I have to say, I will answer the following questions. I hope that my punishment won't be too hard, I'm still willing to serve in the Battlegroup, even as an Ensign. Thanks for your attention.

Rear Admiral, Captain,
Thank you for both your cooperation and explanations. The additional context helps put some of my earlier observations in a new light, and at this point I will need to take adequate stock of all this new information before making amends to my initial report. One way or another, I'm relieved to know that things don't seem to be quite so drastically out of hand as I had initially thought. The stress of this ongoing crisis is getting to all of us, myself included.
In your current condition, Captain, I don't see any pressing reason to push you for answers. Get some rest and let the medical teams do their work.
