Ian Hunter hadn't that what you'd call a normal childhood. Due to the job of his mother, he saw space very earlie, at the age of 3 years. Since then, he is fascinated of it. During the following years, his two brothers, Jim and James were born.
As he came to school age, he went to live at his aunt's house, as did his brothers, as well as their sister, on Manhatten. In school, he was an average student. He spended hie time more with playing space simulations than studying. As he won several championships of the game, the Navy soon showed some interest in him.
When he finished school, he went the same day to a Navy recruiting office. Of course, Ian was accepted. In the following years, he showed great skills trainings, especially when it came to flying.
Meanwhile, both his parents were dead, they both died during attacks of pirats in 800 and 803 AS. This filled him with hate for pirats, and the desire to wipe them out. After he finished West Point as one of the best trainees, he went on patrol duty for many days. That was 810 AS. In the next six years, Ian shot down many hostile vessels and climbed up in the ranks of the Navy. He also persuaded his brothers to join the Navy. While Jim showed good fighting skills, James is prefering a Bomber class vessel.
Then, the day that changed the career of Ian came. 816, Ian was out in New York, patrolling the usual routes. His patrol wing suddenly was assaulted by at least 10 Rogue VHF of the "Werewolf" type. Behind those, 2 Rogue Gunboats were in position. The four Guardians of the patrol had no chance. They quickly turned around to escape, and would perhaps have all succeeded in doing so, but there were also fighters! Two "Sabres" were there, stopping them from running. Their only choice was to stay, to fight and to call for help.
Although the fight took place near West Point, it took almost 10 minutes for the support to come, 10 damned long minutes.
As the support fighters showed up, including a Cruiser patrol that was near West Point, it was almost too late.
Ian survived that day, not remebering much. Some things did stay in his brain, as nobody could ever forget about them, as loosing a leg isn't something easy to forget. Without two legs, his career as Navy member seemed over. As such, it took him very long, over 1 year to recover.
His brothers have no doubt that he wouldn't ever have recovered, wouldn't he be told that there is a chance for him: He could enter the proud row of Cruiser Commanders of the Navy.
Since that day, his recovery went fast.
Nowadays, Ian Hunter is commanding the Gunboat Cross Creek, learning how to command a capital class vessel. While he is doing that, his command is assembled in the Norfolk shipyards.
The new Cruiser class vessel sees a few modifications due to it's future operational area. It will be part of the Area-21 guardians.
As such, it is getting Advanced Cargo Scanners mounted, as well as an advanced energy system, that allows the ship to look like dead.
As it will be the first command of a new Cruiser commander, the command crew itself is consisting of experienced command crew veterans.
