Hello discovery community
First of all i would like to tell you that english is not my first language and sometimes, some people do not understand exactly what i meant, and some others interpret my words in a wrong way, so please go easy on me with my poor language vocab.
I am proposing two new rules to be discussed, enhanced, re-shaped and written in better english and then added to the discovery set of rules.
Take your time and read the two rules shown below and please share me and all of us your idea, suggestion, complains etc.. about these rules so we can reach a good useful form.

Rule (1) - A player cannot be a member of two official factions, enemies to each others in the same space
Rule (2) - Official factions must depend on their members and their allied official members only in a siege against POBs

The two proposed rules are completing each others and there are some advantages that can be achieved from applying these new rules.
The rules will enhance RP from my point of view and also will stop many violations to the rules from occurring anymore.
I can always try my best to elaborate more, but also in the same time, i would like to hear your feedback and comments about these rules, and i mean the entire community, players, mods, admins and devs because those components as total are what makes this great gaming community.
This is a very deep issue that touch a big sector of the community members so please keep the discussion civil and we might reach a new rule to fix not to destroy.

The first one won't work, too many players already are in enemy factions, second one is arguable.

As Shelco said, the first one is not applicable.
First you don't have enough players to enforce that, also as Shelco said, way to much players in both opposing factions. Also it could lead to unbalance, in a game that fights depend on people being fair, imagine 2 opposing official factions with different numbers, you would be limiting the players, as it is it permits to people to switch sides to balance and everyone have fun

As for the second idea, I personally never like the idea of the Indies having the same "perks" as the official. If something is started by an official faction RP, it should be only for the official faction.

Regarding the rule 1 - what is the point of it? And what is the diffence when player is in let´s say RFP| and [RHA] at same time, and when he will be in RFP| but also play on his RHA indie?

Disco experience showed that playing on both sides of the fence actually often helps to prevent creation of ooRP hatred between those groups. It makes you think more about ganks and bad behaviour against your enemies when you fight with players which are at same time your faction colleagues and thus (usually) care more to not make their gameplay miserable. It also makes communication between both groups better so wrongdoings can be settled more easily.

Regarding rule 2 - it solves nothing, POBs will be simply attacked only by indies (which will be unrestricted). It will end in scenario when official faction will just publically declare this or that base as unwanted/enemy, and then siege itself will be declared and made by indies. Nothing stops official factions players to have also indie ships after all.

Also, this rule would likely cripple significantly ability of smaller official factions to remove POBs from their ZOI.

And by the way - implementing rules which would restrict official factions would likely make their position even worse than it is already. It would motivate players even more to stay out of them and play on indies or in indie factions.

On a ragebreak. Or ragequit. Time will tell.

Rule 1 - if it was possible then i believe that this community would go back to how it was when I first started alot more fun. I remember my days when I was IMG, IMG Members had Corsair ships and LN ships while the OC side had LR ships and then also had rheinland ships and so on. It was good times but the community is not large enough for this anymore and if it was to happen I am sure we will have more OORP than INRP happening.

Rule 2 - I am a little confused on what you mean by it but I will ask you on TS to explain so I can get a better understanding

Only having official faction members restricted to sieging? Bad idea. Really bad. Not all factions have the playerbase. It'll make POBS even /harder/ to take down.

No to both.
you are 1) not allowing people to fully explore the mod with factions and forcing people to pick a side and not trusting people to behave themselves and
2) you are excluding unofficial factions and indies.

You should rephrase that.

"Official Factions will give out the Official ID and Tag to get around this rule."

I know for a fact I would.

I remember that somewhere around 2009 or 2010 I and many other players started to push huge efforts in cementing the idea that you need to have multiple characters, especially on opposing sides for the sake of your own mental wellbeing. This came from a few years of watching the situation between OCs and Corsairs, where at the worst of the times, the mere mention of having an alt character on the opposing side would get the player lynched. Not their character, mind. The player. I do not remember how it caught on and whether it was due to natural growth of Disco as a community or people following that advice. In the end, however, I think it was the right sort of approach.

Look at all of the moments in today's disco where we have two groups of players with oorp reasons to log and shoot opposed IDs. It is not a nice sight is it? Now imagine if this sort of mentality was enforced. Also, I really doubt it would be enforced. People have alts on the forum and they can easily have skype alts if they so very desire.

As for the second proposal - Jayce already put it well. People would simply get around it as in many other cases, where the official tag is given out for event, activity farm or siege purposes. And that is not even mentioning complications from sieges made by factions with low player count in general.

--------------
PSA: If you have been having stutter/FPS lag on Disco where it does not run as smoothly as other games, please look at the fix here: https://discoverygc.com/forums/showthrea...pid2306502

I find this idea silly. What's the point of completely limiting on what a player can play? It removes freedom of choice and the ability to play whatever you're in the mood in for.

I don't see either of those suggestions being of any productive use, besides hindering players with more walls. Not even going into the fact that nearly everyone will circumvent them, and nearly everyone is already in many factions that are hostile to one another.

If that first rule was as it is, though, then that means I'd have to be kicked out of every single human faction because I'm in an infectee one...

Edit: Regarding PoBs, that way you'll never effectively siege a defended base that's upgraded more than a basic starter station. Few factions would be able to field enough players to even dent a shielded base -and- survive the defender wave.
