Life of a smuggler

Smuggler: "Hello"

LVL 20 (flying in liberty space): "Ummmm, Hello"

Smuggler: "Got a sec"

LVL 20: "Sure"

Smuggler: "What faction are you"

LVL 20: "I haven't chose one yet, I have a civillian id"

Smuggler: "OK, cool, interested in some work?"

Smuggler: "It is of the shady kind but you will make lots of money"

LVL 20: "My ship is kind of weak, i don't think i am very good at fighting."

LVL 20: "What do you mean by Shady"

Smuggler: "Your ship should be fine, and shady as in illegal"

LVL 20: "What does it involve?"

Smuggler: "I need to know you are ok with shady work before we can talk more"

LVL 20: "Yeah I am ok with that"

Smuggler: "Great, Meet me at the Alaska jumpgate in NY in about 15 minutes. I will give you more details as i get closer."

LVL 20: "How do i get there?"

Smuggler: "Head to Battleship missouri, take the tradelanes to texas."

Smuggler: "Cancel out at the third lane. The one you enter is one."

Smuggler: "At third lane turn left til you see the alaska jumpgate, then fly straight towards it, you should get through the minefield"

LVL 20: "OK"

****About 5 minutes later*****

LVL 20: "I am at the alaska jumpgate"

Smuggler: "Cool, I need 2 things from you"

Smuggler: "I need you to tell me if there are any player cops at the jumpgate before i can enter NY"

Smuggler: "If there are any i cannot enter the system"

Smuggler: "I also need you to make a delivery for me to manhatten, you keep what you make from the delivery as pay"

Smuggler: "Sound good"

LVL 20: "Sounds great"

****Aout 5 minutes pass****

Smuggler: "I am getting close to the gate, anyone on radar?"

LVL 20: "Nope"

Smuggler: "Cool so should i enter?"

LVL 20: "Yeah enter"

--- At this point i enter. Open trade with the LVL 20. Fill him up with Cardamine usually to his shock and give him a discovery scanner.---

LVL 20: "Wow thanks"

Smuggler: "OK you head to manhatten, beware the cops they will bust you. Good Luck. Let me know when you have successfully made the delivery. Don't forget to equip the scanner for future work"

LVL 20: "OK"

***About 5 min of Blood pumping nervous flight for me to rochester or housten and LVL 20 to Manhatten***

LVL 20: "Delivery made"

Smuggler: "Great any trouble?"

LVL 20: "There were about 3 cops sitting outside Manhatten but i was able to sneak by them"

Smuggler: "You make a lot of money?"

LVL 20: "Yeah about 50k!!!"

Smuggler: "Cool. Ok. Here is the Deal. You help me 3 times successfully without ME getting caught i will give you a bonus. You already have 1 success."

Smuggler: "You will be happy with the bonus"

Smuggler: "I will fill up whatever hold you have up to 200. There are some decent ships you can likely afford now. sound good?:

LVL 20: "Yeah great"

Smuggler: "Ok it will take me about 30 min to get next shipment and be back at the alaska gate. I cannot afford to wait for you, if the cops see me in alaska they will come after me"

Smuggler: "If you make me wait it will drastically effect your bonus"

Smuggler: "I will contact you again when i am about 10 minutes out. Do whatever til then. You might want to scan players for their IDs so you know who is a cop and who is not. Please let me know of any threats"

LVL 20: "OK"

---The next 20 minutes are filled with me answering questions about making money, forum rules, factions, game mechanics, ships and weapons, you name it and him telling me what is going on in the system chat in NY. Great fun for him and i get someone to chat with while doing my trade run---

Smuggler: "I am 15 minutes out, can you still meet me at the Jumpgate?"

LVL 20: "Sure"

***5 Minutes later***

LVL 20: "Oh man, there is a [LN] player coming"

Smuggler: "If he asks tell him you are just exploring and do whatever he tells you to do"

Smuggler: "Don't argue, play dumb, and then leave. Please do not mention me"

***2 minutes later***

LVL 20: "Man he was mean. Told me i was not allowed in zone 21. I thought he was going to kill me"

Smuggler: "Yeah liberty cops can be bossy. Thanks for the heads up, he would have busted me for sure"

Smuggler: "Change of plans, meet me at the texas/Bering Jumpgate in about 30 minutes"

LVL 20: "OK"

***30 minutes later. We meet at the Texas/Bering Jumpgate. He tells me it's clear. We make exchange. 5 Minutes of blood pumping nervous flying through liberty to our destinations and everything goes great***

Smuggler: "OK for the last one before bonus i want to go to Manhatten from the alaska jumpgate. Think you can pick a route and lead me there safely?"

LVL 20: "I don't know there are lots of cops sitting outside manhatten but i will try."

Smuggler: "OK, great i will contact you again when i am 15 minutes out."

LVL 20: "Great"

---Now while I go get the next shipment we discuss a plan for getting me to Manhatten. Different LVL 20s come up with different ways. I do whatever they tell me.---

***30 Minutes later and somehow i get to manhatten in my advanced train passed the player cops without being seen. fun fun fun***

Smuggler: "Whew, that was close. I thought for sure i was going to get busted"

LVL 20: "Yeah i know"

Smuggler: "OK bonus time. Meet me out front and i will give you the bonus"

---I open trade and give them anywhere from 5 mil to 10 mil depending on how much fun and whether or not they made me wait---

LVL 20: "OMG, WOW thanks"

Smuggler: "No problem you earned it. Any idea what faction you want to join now that you need a new id? If you choose a legal path please do not bust me in the future"

LVL 40: "Haha, OK, of course not"

---We now chat about what different factions do, about traders for making money, ships, RP ship loadouts. Each newly LVL 40 usually wants something different which is cool---

Smuggler: "If anyone should ask about me, remember this never happened"

LVL 40: "What never happened;)"

LVL 40: "If you need me to scout in the future let me know"

Smuggler: "Sure thing. Go head and decide how you want to spend that money for now and have fun. Feel free to bug me at any time, that sure was fun. Good flying to you"

(I regretfully know he will not be scouting for me any more but i now made a new friend and introduced a new player to how much fun Discovery RP can be without the PVP)

***5 minutes Later***

Smuggler: "Hello"

New different LVL 20: "Umm, Hello?"

There have likely been over 100 recruits. I have been busted many times to the dismay of the recruit but it is all good. What fun would it be if the cops did not play their role? This is how i made enough for my 2 MK 8 armors. I've wanted to share this forever but of coulrse if the cops knew about it i could not do it any more.

The trade route has been deemed OORP and gotten rid of in the next version much to my dismay, people have complained about my use of the trader id and advanced train, Outcasts have tried to force me to get a smuggler id, and i have been accused of being OORP for being in ALaska and Omicron-100 so ultimately this RP has gone to the wayside. I did use the Trader ID, since it feels more sneaky and right for this character. Of course i made more money in the advanced train but it was also more satisfying sneaking one of those passed the cops and did not overtly look like a smugglers ship. If all the cops in NY knew i smuggled with id and ship, it would make it too tough and the recruits would never succeed. There will be lots of RP restricions in the future so i likely will not be around, so good now i finally get to share.

I hope some of you out there get inspired by this and go in game and have some RP fun and stop trying to restrict others RP.

Just to let you know though, just because one smuggling route is becoming nonexistent doesnt mean there arent others, or wont be new ones.

For the past several months, the only smuggling route i've run is between sigma 19 and cambridge - and i make money just as quickly there as I did on the cardamine route, and have far less resistance from players.

Adapt to the environment, you cant avoid change no matter how hard you try =)
