There`s been some talking around about ship limitations for factions, but why don't we make this matter officiall? I'm making a new faction and i feel it would be pretty unfair and illogicall to already posses a BS with only 3 people around  .
I want to hear some admin oppinnions and proposals....
My proposal is: - Unlimited number of fighters
- A Gunboat at every 2 members
- Cruiser every 3 members
- BS every 4 members.
IMHO, the ships are bought with money, not with how many players/members you have, so, if the people trade enough... why not buy a battleship?
On the other hand it wouldn't be bad thet the capship owners be at least the rank of Captain in the faction.
If the stars should appear one night in a thousand years, how would men believe and adore and preserve for many generations the remembrance of the city of God? - from 'Nightfall' by I. Asimov The Outcasts consider Siniestre Nube a sacred place for several reasons. Early explorers discovered a jumphole within the depths of the cloud that leads to a strange world of ringed stars and strange craft. All ships in the burrial ground are placed facing that hole to honor the Alien Spirits. - An Outcast rumor
Every member can buy any ships he/she wants to. I see no reason for limiting. Players can have up to 5 characters on each account, and you'll try to limit all 5 with fighters? No one will ever agree to that.
Difficult one to police aswell. As a faction leader how are you going to make sure your
members don't have other chars. I'd be a little upset too, if I was told I couldn't have
the ship I'd worked for ...

@Nightfall: BS`s, the most expensive ones cost about 100 mills, money which can
be made in a bit more than an hour..
@Igiss: Yes but what happens if in some faction (like the -=?=-) everybody
decides to come in cruisers/BS's?
@Hoodlum: Even if you`re in faction in which you can't have capships until you are
promoted in rank, you can still have the desired capship, but untagged,
and so, useless for the faction...
These were my counterarguments (or whatever they were) :)
Well if a faction like the -=?=- starts using lots and lots of cruisers and battleships (the main reason they were winning is because they had seriously overpowered Heugenots against the other faction's more balanced ship), then you should just fighter mob them. Eventually they will be forced to get anti fighter weaps or die, if they do that you can take them down with capships. Thats why I like mixed fleets. Not just all capships. But half caps and half fighters.
Maybe we could higher the price of the battleships? make them 200 mil instead of 100, since trading is so much easier nowadays. In 4.75 the prices were good because you couldn't make money quite as fast. But now EVERYONE has large trains and can make money like crazy, as well as too many people have BSs.
Not necissarily. If you have a good, solid, controlled faction (Say, the RM, SF, and perhaps the AW (Although I can't really speak for anyone besides the RM)) then you should be able to limmit yourselfs.
One of the reasons that the RM is using more capital class ships is because the smugglers have trains, the pirates have gunboats, the smugglers friends have battleships, and the Phantoms are just plain nasty. Ok, so maybe that's a lot of reasons, BUT they are valid! If it were harder for single people to get battleships, or perhaps trains and so on, we would also down-grade our stuff as well (Although maybe not... We are the Military, after all. Rheinland has an excess of military ships, at the moment. ;) )
This is the real true story of rock and roll; it was not about anything more then, how to live your life, as a gangster, in sartorial splendor, and turning the world into a place where normality would never return again...- Malcolm McLaren
Earlier many members tried to convince me that battleships should become very powerful, so fighters couldn't even hurt them. Now, when battleships actually become more powerful, people start complaining about too many battleships on server. Logically.
Next. Other people were complaining that train capacity is too low, and trade routes are too long. You now say that trading is too easy!
Next. There were complains about battleships being too expensive. Recently someone complained that new battleships are too expensive because they lack pre-installed weaponry. Now you say that they are way too cheap. Oh, really? You know that battleship prices were already increased, and that I have to add 'expensive light' items for this. But ships don't have unlimited number of lights.
I never complained that trading was too long and hard. I just said I hated trading.. I still do. I think either BSs need to be more expensive or trading go back to what it was. Longer and Harder. That requires TIME to get somewhere.
