Even though I don't have a very high reputation in this community I do intend to raise a valid point regarding the way that some aspect appear to be handled. I also would not call myself a role model in anyway, however, surprising as it may be, the following is written with a very serious tone.
When one takes a wander through the sanction section of this forum, they will notice something wrong. That being that far too many sanctions are taking place. This should immediately be a sign for the administration staff to question why this is happening. Clearly something is wrong for this to be taking place.
A certain relationship between the members of the community and administration team should be occurring. That is the members respect the admins and the admins respect the members in turn. If this is achieved the rate at which such wrong-doing and sanctions are occurring should decrease.
Perhaps the admins should review the current rules and guidelines to accommodate for the rest of the community, as clearly we can see, a large majority are 'rebelling' or perhaps just hoping for a more free play style. There are of course those who cheat and some sanctions and bans will be inevitable, however if the community as a whole is happy with how something is run and what they can do then they are less likely to cause issues.
Of course many of the replies here will be pointing out that I am just being a rebel and whinging about the rules that encompass this community. Perhaps admins should be more lenient and handle things with more tact. But clearly some sort of action is required to be taken, that is reasonable, logical, well discussed, and well thought out.

I agree with you.
People who are punished deserve it, they can always appeal, and Admins can always revert the sanction if they were wrong and/or too hard about the issue.
Some people just want to watch the world burn. Officialdom sometimes gets into your head, unofficialdom sometimes thinks they are above rules, I won't even adress indies in that case.
Admins could maybe treat people with "tact" but this way everyone would get on their head and bash them endlessly. We can't have that.
Uhm, no. There is no respect within the community and that won't change with certain individuals in it that are just borderlining acceptable behavior enough to post harassing content. The sanctions aren't a problem of the admins and the community, most of the sanctions are just people that never read the rules or are dare-deviling. The rules are already very condensed, and that's not very good, as it leaves much space for interpretation and drama within the community. That being said, it's very easy to not break the rules by playing in role play and using common sense instead of just do everything to hunt blues and harass people. It's very easy to not be a dick. Some people just won't try it, since they desperately need to profile themselves, take screenshots/links of their achievement and later post it in skype chats to brag.
The problem is less with the system as with the people using it, since the variety of mankind includes the variety of idiocracy. And some people just don't use a vent but enjoy the salt for the cause of salt.

Rule breaking has nothing to do with the player-admin relation. The sanctions are mostly minor ones anyways, and the sanctioned player in question rarely gets sanctioned again. We had the rules rewritten recently and the community didn't fully adapt to them yet, but as I've said, those are minor sanctions or warnings anyways. If we had a huge cheating scandal or people deliberately getting sanctioned to "prove a point" or "give admins work", that'd be a problem. Neither of those things are present though.
Should've seen back when we alway had 200 players in game regularly. Gheis and I doing 11 hour sanction grinds while hungover pretty much summed up those glory days. Even amongst all that more reports got tossed out the window then being processed for sanctions. One can lose count how many times a player tries to use the staff as their own personal weapon or themselves not knowing the rules or simply has too thin a skin to ignore when another player's opinion triggers them in some vague way. This is the Internet and people tend to behave like asshats when the consequences are as virtual as their actions. But when all is said and done there is no mistaking that most violation reports never needed to be filed, incidentally becoming an opportunity to teach someone the rules.
Another detail to consider is that the administration are wading hip deep in work. Server maintenance, lost accounts, faulty installations, player requests, faction requests, activity tracking, forum maintenance, srps, events etc etc...ad infinitum....I can tell you from experience that processing sanctions is an incredibly annoying distraction from running the server and the administration aren't swinging hammers for the fun of it.
It's not a players vs administration thing happening it's a people on the Internet thing that's happening.
