I think it would be kinda cool if in the next version of discovery a cargo pod was added that had the same colors as the large train, but had windows ect that made it look like they were passenger pods.
If I can find a way to register my copy of Milkshape I would gladly do the texturing and modelling. I just dont want to pay for the software.
I also came up with an idea to add a new faction that would not have any bases, but would have ID's sold on every capital planet (New Berlin, New Tokyo, Manhattan, and the Bretonia one)
"Sirius Coalition to Protect & Serve" or the SCPS
Don't even need the bases, would just be nice to have an ID for it placed on each capital planet. What this SCPS ID would allow a player to do is act as a "Police" force in all systems, so as opposed to purchasing a Liberty Police ID and going to Rheinland and being out of your jurisdiction (BTW, Jurisdiction requirements should be added to Government ID's) you can go into another factions territory and have jurisdiction, but would still however, be under the police of that house.
Ideas? Comments?
All this would be is a very well worded ID added to the game and sold on Core planets. (FYI You would have to be friendly to the point of being "Associated" with the core planet to purchase the ID) so only people who are extremely friendly with lawful forces in their home territory could purchase one.
ID Card Would Read:
Sirius Coalition to Protect & Serve ID
Those ships equipped with a SCPS ID Card have authorization from the four house governments to act and aid the house police and militaries with standard and non standard duties. This jurisdiction is only granted in the territories of Rheinland, Bretonia, Kusari, and Liberty. This ID Does not grant the ship it is mounted on to disobey any lawful force associated directly with any house system.
Ships allowed: Capital Ships (Only House Cap Ships) Fighters (Only House Fighters) Civilian Ships
Since this is a train suggestion how about this: Make them so that when you destroy the crate thingys on them they actually leave loot for you to take. Of course if it is possible. After all you can do it to NCPs to blowup their cargo holds without blowing up the ship.
Been here since Discovery 4.77 (lurk mode engaged)
Zapp Wrote:I have recently met and discussed with Atalawohisdi the trader that flies the Caribe. Just so everyone knows, I engaged in Sigma 13. He flies through half the system before going back to New Berlin, where he cruises from one side of the system to the other, hugging the sun as close as he can. All the while, he flies near Battleships trying to scrape me off. I finally send out the white flag, and move back to Sigma 13. However, it was a ruse, and he bit. Knowing his trade route, I interdicted the trade lane and the chase began anew. It ended, an hour after it began, with me retreating, out of Countermeasures and getting very irritated.
He kept boasting how he has never been caught; I'd like to see him beat until he begs to pay, then beaten some more.

That would be really cool but I don't think it is within the mods abilities to do that to a player. It is nice being able to do it to NPC's tho and not get the bad rep for stealing the booty! :)
wonderful idea about the passenger pods. dark oddity really all you have to do it put windows on normal cargo pods and just smooth them out to make em look a little.........less boxey.[maybe like those amtrak trains in real life lol....or the coaches on an acela express(none of you probly noe what this is)]
My 'Unknown' Characters
Baldomero[TBH] - Titan
Baldomero.B[TBH] - Praetorian (Planned)
Baldomero.J[TBH] - Private Cruiser, Named the Hezamorph (Planned)
Baldomero.G[TBH] - Good Ole' Rusty. (Corsair Gunboat)
You could re-skin the triangular pods (like the radioactive one) to look quite good as passenger pods, though they would definitely look better from a little re-modelling to inset or extrude the windows. Very easy job in modelling terms but I have more interesting things on my plate at the moment :0P
Dark Oddity: The Sirius Coalition ID is most likely not going to happen. Couple of reasons- ID's are all based on existing NPC factions. Having a new faction suddenly appear with power over the entire of Sirius is highly unrealistic in Freelancer/Discovery story terms. The player faction, Sirius Federation (SF) used to have a similar role, with jurisdiction over Liberty and Bretonia, but that was decided to be too big an area to maintain. We currently do our best to protect just Bretonia (primarily only one system, Cambridge) against unlawfuls which is tough, especially with new pirate factions cropping up every week. Do you have any idea how difficult it would be to police the whole of Sirius? If you just want to fight pirates in any system, make a Bounty Hunter character or something.

Wheres the fun it that?
I like blowing the whole train up, you get bots, bats, pilots even if the thing is empty.
Besides which it's pretty hard to blow the pods open without killing the ship unless you've got near-perfect aim and a set of chainguns.
Though I suppose it would make hit-and-fades alot easier to do, once you've got through the shield that is...
