The link at the bottom of the index page (the link should be after "Log Out" and before "Forum Team") is not visible. This is a recent change, and likely something went wrong after the forum software upgrade mentioned here.
HTML inspection reveals that the link's <a> element contains no inner HTML, making the link zero-width and therefore unclickable. If the page is locally altered to include any text within the element, the link becomes clickable and fully functional.
Also, the quote button on the editing panel has its tooltip (its tag's "title" attribute) set to "PHP". (Again?)

Nice catch, i don't know if it was intentional removed or not, but the thing should be completely removed(or commented out) or readded, up to the team

Some of us are too quick to click before reading . .

It's intended to be less visible, though if you suggest a better solution(color) that will still not be as visible as the text to left i'm sure they'll edit it

No it's not, though by default admins see all the themes so they may not know its being shown to members or other Groups
People want to believe that God has a plan for them.
They don't wanna believe that anyone else does..

Does it cause so significant performance and/or usability issues that its removal is considered?

Why hide it? If there is harm from it being common knowledge and available to everyone, why not remove it or restrict (or throttle) access? If there are no such negative effects, any and all positive effects are your reasons not to reduce visibility.
If we discard the requirement to conceal the link, even #009900 would be a noticeable improvement (currently it's "green" or #007F00). #00CC00 is even more functional.
