To The Gaian Guard or, to whomever it may concern:

Look...This is probably as weird to you as it is to me, but I was told to introduce myself & say that Matthew Grim sent me.

I don't even know who the hell that is.

All I know is that when I was released from Sugarland prison earlier this week, there was 25 thousand credits & a crappy Stargazer waiting for me. I tried to fly to Manhattan to find a job and an apartment, but the controls were locked & it flew me on autopilot to Planet Cambridge instead. It landed in a field next to an unmarked grave and I found an audio file there that gave me the coordinates to Torshavn Station, said to go join the family, and that Grandpa Banger says bye.

I don't understand what any of that means or what I'm doin' here, but to be honest, I have nowhere else to go.

It's only fair I be honest with you at the outset though: While I appreciate your kind words, How can I trust you? Any of you? I admit, I'm desperate...but I'm not stupid.

I would like to meet...no...I need to meet with you & yours, but I have to have some sort of assurance you lot aren't trying to play me for a fool.

Even in Liberty, I've heard stories here & there about the Gaians since I was little.

Look...it's becoming clear to me that I somehow botched it with you guys. & whatever it's worth, I'm sorry about that. I don't know who it was that sent me here or why he told me to make contact...All I know is that I'm here now, I'm calm now, & it's obvious that all I can do is figure out what my next step is on my own.

I'm not a Gaian, but my ship is now.
When I docked on station last week, the transponder rebooted itself & has chirped out a Gaian Identification ever since. Sooo, if you guys ever want to find me, I'm sure you can do that, but I'm not sure as hell not gonna continue to sit around by the phone like a lost puppy. I don't need you like I originally thought. I got it.

I appreciate you getting back to me, Mr. Thorn. I all but gave up that I was going to get a response...I found my way to Sandur a number of days ago, but I'll be glad to return to Torshavn in order to set up a meeting with you guys.

That said, I'm still trying to process what you've told me.

To answer your first question, yes. I've wondered pretty much my entire life; to the second, no. The name rings no bells...I've never met the man & my mother never talked about him.

I don't know how else to respond to the implication. If it's true, it's kind of a bombshell and I'm not really sure how to take it.

I'll gather my things and head back into Cambridge tonight.

Mr. Erieth, My name is Che Araya and I believe we should talk. I'm not in the Gaian Guard, but I think I can say that I fall into the "Whomever it may concern" category.

I'm currently en-rote to Torshavn and should arrive within the next six hours.

You and I share a similar experience in regard to Matthew Grim, and if you'll allow me, I would like to buy you a beer and trade experiences with you while you wait for the Guard to contact you again.

I haven't heard from Matthew for a couple of years now, so the only thing I ask is, if you do eventually find an in with the Guard, I would like for you to consider lending me a hand in trying to make contact with them myself.

In return, I have the means to provide you with a Gaian fighter and the credits for flight lessons that could lead you to gaining your pilots license, if that is something that would interest you. If not, I'm willing to teach you what Matthew taught me: How to make a living as a Gaian entrepreneur.
