I believe that changing the password should occur with the participation of the mailbox, through which the password should change. Simply, I strained it "Enter your old password, then a new one..." Is this the whole level of protection? Maybe we'll connect the mail?

Resetting a password of an account you're not logged into would require access to the email address associated with the account. Changing the password of an account you are already logged into should not require an email address.
