LNS Delaware
("Overlord-A" class Dreadnought)
Alexander Reyes was born on Planet Manhattan in 779. His parents were good people, both were Navy officers fighting in the Nomad War, Commander Sydney Reyes (née Stirling) and Captain Bryan Reyes.
It was quite predictable that he would join the Navy as well as his older brother, Ryker, did.
Ryker was born in 777 A.S. on Planet Manhattan. In his school time and at the very beginning of his training in the Navy he was a very impulsive person. That's why it was like a miracle as they accepted to train him. His character changed a lot after the first 3 weeks he has been there. He became much more patient and very versed about his responsibilities. His trainers were astonished that much that he became promoted unusually fast and commanded his first Battlecruiser just half a year after he finished his training.
2 years later Alex passed his training, but within it he met many people, for example his todays best friend and short time date Marisa Vazquez, who's the executive officer of his Overlord class today.
Vazquez was born in August 779 on Planet Crete. Her family had to flee from Hispania because her father made some deals with untrustworthy pirates. As they destroyed the transport the family has been smuggled in, her parents died by the explosion. A Navy officer discovered the escape pod of the young girl and he decided to take her home with him and raise her. As she became older her adoptive father asked her to join the Navy, what she did. She passed the training and started her career on the Missouri where she was stationed as the nomad war began.
He met her within the first 2 weeks on West Point. At this time Marisa and Reyes's later wife (Zara Nolan) were room mates and became very good friends within their 4 years of training. Every evening the 3 met in the bar to drink something and talk about their problems and concerns. In the third month Alex and Marisa had a relationship for some weeks. After this they kept some distance to each other. But Zara felt wrong about this and tried to at least keep their friendship. It turned out to become a challenge so she first had to accept the situation as it was. Alex and Zara still met in the bar but it took some time until Vazquez appeared again.
From time to time Ryker visited his little brother. He saw that Alex had feelings for Zara and wondered why he doesn't just ask her for a date, started to urge him. Of course he felt bad about Marisa, but some months passed already and life had to go on, Ryker repeated, so Alex did soon and two weeks later they began a relationship. As Marisa heard this she slowly started to return to her little clique.
Alex and Zara made two children and got married in 801.
Zara Nolan was born in January 780 on Planet Houston. In her early years (14) she already started to get interested into politics. She was a very patriotic but far not nationalistic person. To see how the pilots work, which fight for Liberty, she joined the Navy. With the intention to get a higher, more diplomatic position, she finished her training with very well results. With the beginning of her career and the flight hours she had to absolve, she always tried to negotiate with any of her interlocutors, she wanted to avoid fights as good as she could. Because of her engagement she quickly came into the position she wanted to be.
802 A.S. was probably the hardest year in Alex's life. As he returned from a mission in July late at night he found his house on Manhattan with a wide opened door. He suspiciously took out his weapon and cleared the rooms on the first floor. He checked the camera records and saw that someone shot the front door and walked in, murmuring his wife's name. He called Ryker to take away the children. As Alex arrived at the end of the second floor, he noticed terrified sounds from the bedroom, so he checked it out. He slowly entered the room and realized a man aiming a gun at Zara. First he aimed his gun on the man as well but it became too risky in his eyes so he dropped it and plead to kill him instead of her, but it was too late. The man shot her right into the chest and ran away like a coward. Ryker just missed him for around a minute. He walked into the house, looked for the children and called for his brother. He didn't react so he thought something bad happened. As Ryker's crew arrived, just some seconds later, they brought Alex's children to his Battlecruiser and he walked up to the second floor and to the bedroom as well. He saw his younger brother on the ground with his wife in his arms, looking up at him with his tears-filled eyes. A few minutes later the Police and the medics arrived and determined just what the brothers already knew.
Some months passed and Ryker was ordered to a patrol in California. He and his squad were involved into a fight against some Outcasts. They clearly won and the leader gave up. Interestingly he was identified as the murderer of Zara.
The whole family gathered on Ryker's Battlecruiser to question the pirate about why he shot her, but he didn't say word. The brothers left his cell in the early morning of November 15th 802 A.S. and went to their rooms to get some sleep. Their parents continued the questioning and peculiarly he started to talk. At the same time the brothers entered their rooms, a loud explosion shook the ship.
They knew what it was.
They wanted to run back to the pirate's cell but the section was locked. They made their way to the hangar, to their fighters and checked the conspicuous leak from outside the ship and ordered a repair team. The pirate was pulled out of the cell and his dead body was later cremated.
Unfortunately, he was not the only one. Sydney and Bryan Reyes suffocated right after the decompression.
After the burial of their parents, Ryker and Alex focused on their training and to find out why all these things happened. Since that time the brothers stood together like never before.
Thanks to the cameras they could at least watch the recordings to see what the guy said.
Obviously it was because Zara knew about something which others wanted to know more about. Pirates, who else, needed that information so they had to find and ask her. She kept everything as a secret but not the Outcast she was questioned by. He said too much about his organization and himself so he had to kill her anyway – however he defined “anyway”.
The explosion on the Battlecruiser which killed Sydney and Bryan Reyes wasn't an accident – as expected – it was a bomb installed on a pipe. Some new Recruits of the ship, which actually were allies of the pirate, seemingly helped him to get out of the complicated situation. Another explanation could be that they, regardless of him - means without any further relations between them - needed to be sure that he won't tell the Navy more than he should.
They were killed in the explosion as well.
Alex, however, fell into depression after that. His brother had to do very much in this time so he could not really be there to encourage him. Vazquez and another friend of Reyes, Mason Lennox, who's the Delaware's chief engineer today, were the only ones there who helped him to get out of this period. Marisa kind of took the position as the children's mother, she also became their godmother. Lennox tried to slowly get him back into life, after Alex stood at home for around 4 months and doing nothing. He traveled very much with him at his own expense. He became godfather as well. With the help of his friends he managed to return to life and to continue his career.
Mason Lennox was born in July 779 on Planet Leeds. Inspired of the Bretonian Battleships and the technology behind it he first made his education as an engineer on the Southampton Shipyard. He later switched to the Bretonia Armed Force to get trained in fighting. In spring 799 he met his todays wife on Planet New London, who is a Libertonian. He decided to follow her to Liberty and joined the Navy after that, where he finished his training and met Zara, Marisa and Alex.
When he passed this leg he used opportunities to improve his abilities, starting with his fighting skills. He accepted the position as Tactical Action Officer on a Dreadnought in 805 and later continued with his capability on flying fighters. After that he was promoted to Commander and also to Executive Officer of the ship where he could improve his tactical senses by advising his Captain.
When the Captain passed away the command was offered to him. He performed as CO until the end of the Rheinland-Liberty war in 822.
Alex started to think about what he could do for other families to protect them against things like that. He thought that something that's big and strong enough would already be an efficient method to deter criminals. And if they still don't keep away then maybe the firepower could convince them. He thought about a Dreadnought.
Gregor Sanders, a friend he met some years ago, advised him to join the 5th Fleet.
He asked the High Command of it if they would allow to build such a ship. They agreed and he joined the Fleet.
822 Ryker decided to leave the direct action and gave the command of his Battlecruiser to his first officer. He's now doing the paperwork for it from the Norfolk Shipyard.
Alex's children completed their training in 822 as well.
Bryan Jr. and Mira Reyes were born in May 801 and April 800. Even though their mother died they grew up under good conditions, since their godmother was there for them. They also have a good relation to their uncle who often told them stories about his childhood and youth when he had time. When they started their training, they had the same trainer as their parents had. The woman remembered them but didn't show much joy about meeting relatives of them. The kids finished and now serve on the Missouri.
Marisa Vazquez was born in 779 on Planet Crete.
The relationship between her mother, Lydia, and her father, Santiago, has been somewhat complicated. They met each other on a Freeport close to Hispania, he as a Corsair, she as a Zoner. After the first few dates she got pregnant but she didn't want to raise her child without a father so she decided to go with him, even though she wasn't convinced of the Corsair's and their practices. The many disputes they had about his job, doing the trades for the Empire, didn't contribute advantageous to their relationship.
In 784 Santiago got into a deal with Gaians, which actually were independent pirates. They wanted him to hand out the cargo, but he refused to, without the payment. Of course they had no money. They started to attack him but in the mean time some other Corsairs arrived and managed to fight him a way to escape.
The pirates didn't forget about that. Many attempts were made to kill him. After a big argument with Lydia they decided to flee from Crete, to Liberty, because they didn't want to risk their daughters life anymore. Passing the border between Kusari and Liberty in Kepler, their transport has been attacked by those pirates. Lydia and Santiago managed to bring Marisa to an escape pod.
Before they could enter theirs, the transport burst into flames.
The scanners of Ames registered the explosion. They contacted the Navy to send out some ships to check that. One of those 4 pilots, Lance Evans, found the pod of the 4 years old girl. She didn't even know what was going on so it was very hard for him to explain as they arrived on Manhattan.
As he came home on this evening he told her wife, Lyla, about Marisa. They didn't have to think much about it - they adopted her.
They brought her up like their own daughter. When she became 15 Lance searched for some information about the rest of her family and found the contact details of her grandparents. They are still in touch with each other.
With 16 she was asked by him if she would join the Navy, what she did when she became 17 later this year.
Zara and her were room mates so their friendship strengthened very fast. Until Zara's death they were best friends. After the short relationship with Reyes ended she didn't show up in their group until she heard that Zara and Alex were a couple, because she didn't want to talk about anything relating to that.
When Zara died in 802 she was very sad but she had to help Reyes with his children, together with Lennox. Because they were very young as their Mother died, Bryan Jr. and Mira mainly saw Marisa as their mom. She even exchanged her shifts with her colleagues to have time for the kids on her weekends, even though she didn't have to.
The group wondered about why they didn't try it again for many years, but Alex didn't even tell Mason the real reason. Both say they had no cause to talk about it since no one of them started the topic again. She didn't even have another relation within all those years. Neither did she want to nor did she have the time.
However, the 3 somehow managed to stay together on one ship until Reyes gave up the command of the "Spark" in 822. Before they came together again to take in their positions on the Delaware, they were going their own ways. Marisa joined the Marines to improve her physical abilities. When she heard of the plans to build a new Dreadnought she left the Marines and returned to the Navy again. Reyes offered her the position as XO when the Delaware was still under construction, what she accepted.
Zara Nolan was born on January 25th 780 A.S. on Planet Houston as child of lower class workers.
Her parents always tried to compensate the fact that they had few money, with all the love they could give to her daughter. She appreciated their deeds and aspired to the best degree she could reach, leaving school as best of the year not only because of her will to always be diligent within but her out-of-school engagement as well, especially including politics.
The reason for that interest has its origin in her family's general financial situation. That personal thing made her want to change something for her loved ones and all those who have to live equally every day.
She thought it's important to get an impression of as many people's opinions, from personalities out of the most different classes, as possible and so after school she first of all wanted to understand the people working and fighting for Liberty every day, understand their intentions, their political perspectives and get a picture of how things work when encountering pirates, criminals and similar entities.
There she very soon realized that killing someone isn't as easy as one would expect in the beginning, as space fights are more impersonal. It's the time that made her get used to it slowly but never completely. Because of her diplomatic and logical kind she relatively often managed to avoid battles or unnecessarily bloody ends at least, even though she was an experienced pilot.
Back when she started her training the first to meet was her room mate Marisa. They quickly became friends with each other and shortly later Alex Reyes, a guy from the same year's men group. After Vazquez broke up the relationship she had with Alex - for a reason only Zara and Marisa were aware about - Nolan tried to keep the small group together somehow, which wasn't as easy since her best friend didn't go out much for at least 10 months after she quitted.
However, Zara and Alex kept their tradition, meeting up in the bar every evening, talking about life, training and basically everything but about the group's actual third member - both sides hardly tried to avoid that for given reasons. Though, that togetherness caused both to see each other with different eyes, and so they started to date not much later.
With all the experience she earned from her missions and patrols, the knowledge she gained in political driven programs and the years of personal life that passed, she finally reached the beginning of the path to the position she wanted herself to be, in October 800. At the same time she found out that she was pregnant so the job change came opportune.
Of course the political orientation she evolved wasn't exactly the one that then-president Jacobi had back then, that, logically, didn't make Zara the most popular person in Liberty, which probably was the reason for her death on July 10th 802 A.S.

LNS Retribution
("Overlord" class Dreadnought)
Born on Planet Manhattan in 796 as son of James and Jennette Sanders.
His father was Captain of a Navy Dreadnought, the LNS Ticonderoga, so he didn't have much time for his family. Most things a father usually does, his mother had to take over as well and she was a busy doctor.
Those days he was at home, he did what he could to help Jennette to relax.
But it became even more problematic in 801.
During the nomad war James was one of the few who managed to escape the infected and later grouped up with other ships including the L.N.S. Odyssey. After the war the Ticonderoga was destroyed during a battle and none of the ship’s crew survived either. But the files were classified so the family never knew the truth.
In 807 the Family was on the move in the city of Manhattan to buy some food.
On their way back home an armed pickpocket was about to steal their money.
The older brother of Gregor wanted to defend his family against him but he got shot and died. The thief, obviously shocked himself of what he did, escaped.
The mother tried to stay strong in all this time, even though Gregor knew that she had depressions. She tried not to show it to him, what worked most of the time.
At the age of 15 Gregor found the letters of the police in his mom's office, where it was written by whom his brother was shot. It was a Rogue who they have been searching for for years. His will to join the Navy intensified by that. After school he joined the Navy at the age of 18.
He graduated at West Point with flying colors and was assigned to serve aboard a Battlecruiser. He managed to work his way up through the ranks. Later he served aboard a Dreadnought where he became Captain after the former CO went AWOL. After returning to spacedock Sanders decided to join the 5th fleet.
His ship received a brand new coat of paint and a completely refreshed weapon technology.
It was also renamed to "LNS Retribution".
In his free time the most he does is "dating" in what he is quite successful. But the older he gets, his will to find something real strengthens. In mid October 824 a woman called Melissa entered his life - who may stay longer than he firstly thinks.
In October 823 Jennette Sanders was diagnosed with cancer by which she died in early 824.
Mason Lennox was born on July 8th 779 on Planet Leeds. Because his father, Derek, was a mechanic he quite early evolved an interest for the construction of ships. His mother died when he was born so he anyway didn't have a real choice - he had to help in his dad's business to gain the extra money to live a reasonably decent life.
Especially inspired of the Bretonian Battleships, the technology behind it and their monstrosity, he first made his education as an engineer on the Southampton Shipyard. He moved to a flat on Planet New London to be closer to his work. Yet, he sent the money that he didn't need to his father.
When Derek died in early 798, Mason wanted a change in his live. Consequently he switched to the Bretonia Armed Force to get trained in fighting. To his advantage, he could use some of the tricks he learned in his youth, when he flew around their customer's repaired ships.
In early 799 he first met his today's wife, Laureen, who's Libertonian, on Planet New London, in the most cliched way imaginable - in a bar.
She was assigned to Bretonia in the course of a training program. Coincidentally their units were ordered to work together for some time.
They got to know each other better through that and even though the work took much of their spare time they managed to keep up a relationship.
When her time in Bretonia ended and she had to return to New York, she asked Mason to follow her to form their path together. He decided to go with her to get a real chance of a complete restart.
He left without saying a word to his friends or the rest of his family. Therefore he was pretty alone at the beginning of his new career but not for long since he pretty soon found new friends in Zara, Marisa and Alex.
They both finished their training within the Navy in 800. But because they quite late realized that Laureen has been pregnant, only Mason went into action directly. She stood home to take care of their first child Noel. Their daughter Aria followed in 803.
Until 822, when Alex gave up the command of the “Spark”, his friends and him worked together on the same ship. After that time he went to several academies to educate the recruits in basic stuff and prepared future engineers for their career. In 824 he accepted Reyes's offer as chief engineer on the new Dreadnought “Delaware”.
His kids, who joined the Navy as well, finished their training in 820 and 824.
