What follows is the text of an address to the Liberty government by representatives of a coalition of Liberty industries:
Ladies and Gentlemen,
For those who do not know me I am John Vero, President and CEO of Liberty operations Synth Foods Inc.
In addressing you today I represent not only Synth Foods Inc. but also a multitude of Liberty owned and operated industries. It is the well being of the people, and therefore the nation, of Liberty that brings me to this point.
I am not versed in foreign policy so I can not testify as to what the desired results of the trade blockade imposed by the Liberty Government are; what I am well versed in and what this blockade has done, and continues to do, is cripple the Liberty economy and weaken our national security.
Let me give a pair of examples for your consideration:
Example 1:
Optical Chip manufacturing in Liberty was once a strong industry. While Optical Chips from Liberty are slightly more expensive than those from Kusari; the shorter and much safer route meant Rhineland industries would purchase Liberty made Optical Chips from planet Houston because of our faster delivery times. Now, with the blockade of Liberty goods, Kusari industries have established more frequent trade runs into Rhineland.
Effectively the Liberty manufacture has all but ceased and Rhineland still gets what they desire.
Example 2:
The Mining Machinery used on Planet Pittsburgh was primarily purchased from Altona, Essen, and Planet New Berlin. Now with the trade blockade that flow has stopped and Mining has been reduced over 50%. Mining Machinery is being produced as quickly as possible on Planet Houston and Ft Bush to make up for the shortfalls but the scarcity of component elements has caused the prices to go up to double or more what it cost in Rhineland. As a result Planet Holstein in Rhineland has become the largest exporter of Boron in Sirius. A position once held by Pittsburgh.
Im sure you are aware that shortages of Polymers, High-Temperature Alloy, Copper, and other commodities are crippling the Liberty economy, as well as making the production of Navy ships for our defense all the more difficult.
I ask the government to reconsider this blockade and take immediate measures that will help restore what was once the most prosperous economy in Sirius.
