The haze of the nebula as the vessel glided through would send chills down any one else who didn't belong. The eerie tones of blue that swept across the viewports offered no solace, no comfort as you would expect such a color to provide. The tides of those blue hues moved in complex and inconsistent patterns, making even a simple glance unsettling and nauseating. This was the void. The cold, unforgiving space beyond the borders of human settlements.
To the man looking out the bridge viewport though, it was not fear, nor discomfort as his gaze swept across the sight in front of him. No, it marked close proximity to his destination. As the elements of the nebula clashed with one another, sending bursts of electrical currents back and forth, a mass in the distance began to take form. A massive structure, hidden in the dark void, suspended as if the nebula had a tight grip on it's shape. As it's form came more and more into focus, it's size became imposing, even to such a large craft such as the vessel aimed at it.
Immense chunks of rock, formed out of what one would assume a large asteroid or small moon, were held together by beams and corridors. Hanger bays and shipyards. A mixture of precise construction, and jagged rock. To gaze upon it's form if they did not belong, better they not know such a thing was feasible. For one would see the gross evolution of human design, to something... else. Something that would lure a more curious mind who did not run in fear. Whether this lure originated from the mass itself or from the depths of one's own discomfort is to be debated.
Fear, in the man's mind who gazed upon it's form though, was still not present. A sense of awe, and determination was instead in fear's place. When finally the sight enveloped the viewport, a small grin appeared, and a sound slightly louder than a whisper escaped his lips.
