So ever since 85, we have provided the Gallics as the big baddie alternative to the Nomads. Over a long period of time, the GRN ''threat'' that has been a driving force for many of our lore patches thus far, have reduced in the size of the playerbase to the point where the GRN are the only faction that is currently representing what the lore reffers to as the Gallic threat.
Due to this, players do not have much choice in the way they are looking at the situation - here is a global (universal...?) threat, which has an active playerbase of a few players. No matter how you explain and present it - it feels very bad for the receiving side. Not only you are stuck with a plot-armor equipped enemy that is supposed to be putting up a huge fight, but as the recent events show - that side is so understocked by players that balance issues are a thing.
I am proposing this suggestion to remedy the issue - by simply making all GRN ships - snubs and caps, sell for a third or half of the price than they are now. If there are more players flying due to the ships being much more obtainable, then their amount might be enough to not worry about disincluding their natural enemies due to pvp balance concerns.
This can also be done by adding special cheaper clone ''variants'' of their capital ships that cost less, so that if the test doesn't work out - they can be safely removed from the game without the fear of players losing money as well as to avoid players stocking up on cheaper ships just to farm money once the costs return to normal - if the difference is above what the npc vendor would give.
The obvious issue with this plan is the chance that the GRN might become overwhelming. There is also the more problematic notion that if the GRN are given this sort of special treatment, other less used groups would be inclined to ask the same.
Or perhaps this sort of change wouldn't do anything to the situation at hand.
At worst - this would mean an influx of inexperienced players flocking to these new caps as they are the cheapest point of entry for the big guns.
I'd still like to hear your thoughts on the concept and, if not, alternatives.

like;
Kusari Train %40 discount for 2 day
Rheinland Train %40 discount for 2 day

Sporadic discounts that cycle through factions would be an amazing benefit to factions that are struggling to build an indie base.
Perhaps this could be a faction perk? ALTHOUGH I am strongly against making factions have to pay for help.

I don't think it's a bad idea - provided it's marked as exceptional and essential to the lore of Disco. As a member of the MRG, I know for a fact it would provide us with a great recruitment incentive for younger members of the community : cheap, good ships and plenty of targets to shoot at, all of it under the eye of the many veterans who have joined this faction. It'd do a lot of good to us and the server as a whole, I think : GRN indies have been around more lately, but an influx of stable recruits would certainly be helpful if Gallia is to remain the primary antagonist.

Balancing by cost has been something I've been critical about for a while, since the implementation of NEMP bombs, which are basically "pay 300 million to kill 5 people for free" weapons. Paying for something that gives you a direct and objective advantage over other players is a poor concept (yes, this also means armor upgrades), but it has been cranked up to infinity with NEMPS. Having recurring payments that you need to pay for a feature in the game to work is poor too, like the Nomad Power Cells for the Hybrid Cloaks, as this encourages you to play dirty to not lose your Power Cell.
The reason why I don't object to this idea here is that it would benefit everyone equally and would be a one-time investment (after you bought it, the ship is yours). Recurring payments to make a feature less frequently accessible, however, is something that I will never get behind.
From a tehcnical point of view, as long as the discout given to the ships is exactly the amount that you'd get back if you sold the ship back for full price in order to avoid credit farming - this could be a thing. Once a month we could pick a certain area that gets the discount and rotate it.

Just seems like another attempt to get the in-game play to reflect the Story line, when it should be the other way around. Feels like it would be putting yet another band-aid on the addition of Gallia into the mod, an addition that has already been stripped down system wise and tweaked to no end, and still people find it hard to play or want to play a Gallic faction. Making Gallic ships sell for less....just so the numbers can reflect more accurately the storyline sets a bad precedent. But of course the decision has probably already been made to do so, and this post more than asking for our opinions on it, is probably just a way of letting us know what is coming down the pike.
Either way....Kudos on all the work behind the scenes on the update and for the effort it takes to keep the game running....even if I disagree sometimes with the storyline advancements and other developments, I do admire the effort and work you guys put into it, so Kudos on that.
