Sons of Ra squad leader Tanis, reporting in.
Not more than 24 hours ago, we received word of a unknown signature within the derelict system of Omicron Minor. First on the scene, nothing indicated that anything was amiss until scanners picked up a large signature some 30-40 clicks away from the Omicron Zeta jumphole. Approaching with caution, eventually the scanners ascertained the source of the reading. A drifting Libertonian Dreadnought, named the "Colossus". Sensor readings indicated it was without power, but the hull appeared intact. At that time, I held at 5 clicks out until the arrival of the "Osiris", soon to be followed by recon cruiser "Dark Symphony" from the 141st fleet. Attached are the drone images capturing my arrival:
Immediately, the Osiris dispatched a boarding party equipped with radiation suits and equipment to ascertain if there was any danger in sending in teams. Fortunately for us, no radiation or toxic signatures were present. At that time, 2 teams were dispatched. Team 1 entered first with 5 men, heading towards the engineering section to see about establishing power. Team 2, with 4 men under my lead, made our way towards the bridge, in hopes of checking ship logs and accessing the ships database once minimal power was restored.
After navigating our way to the bridge in zero-gravity, we positioned ourselves on the bridge deck, grav-boots engaged to the floor while waiting for Team 1 to provide power. Over the comms, we received word that Team 1 had reached the reactor, and were able to activate the secondary cores to provide power such as lights, gravity, and computer systems. Weapons, shields, and engine remained offline, as they were tied to the main reactor core.
When the consoles came active, we immediately began reviewing and transferring ship data over to a secured, partitioned section of the Osiris mainframe. While the transfer was in motion, I started reviewing the last logs of the ship. Some were removed and deleted, but the last intact log indicated that the captain, as strange as this sounds, abandoned ship for reason as simple as "not needing it anymore". It appeared as though with that message, he sent it to Liberty space. At that moment, I comm'ed Osiris, informing them that we may have company shortly.
Finishing the transfer of ship data, we made our way towards the hanger bays, to RV with Team 1, who managed to collect pieces of the ship's experimental cloaking device. Once we arrived, and noticed that the hanger still had a full wing of "Guardian" heavy fighters, members of each team piloted the craft back to the Osiris and Symphony.
Not a moment later, Liberty forces arrived with a mix of LSF fighters and SFC ships. As the last of the team boarded both of our vessels, and myself back in my fighter, Osiris command issued orders to scuttle the Liberty ship. Upon opening up, the Liberty forces engaged all Order ships. Very quickly though, they proved themselves inferior, with the destruction of the SFC ships, and the subsequent fleeing of LSF fighters. Myself and Symphony chased one of the fighters back to the Ellesmere jumphole, but received orders not to follow into the jumphole, but to return back to the fleet. During the fight, my drone was able to capture the subsequent fleeing of the LSF ships after we removed the SFC ships:
All in all, operation "Jackal" was a success. We suffered no losses, and received valuable intel and resources. Hopefully pieces of the cloaking device will assist our own engineering in fine tuning modules of our own.
On a side not, before embarking towards Omicron Minor, my computer received a interesting news bulletin. I should make note, that I have my computer tapped into Sirius wide news channels in order to keep track of anything of importance that may be of interest to us. With that said, news from Bretonian space indicated that a "Blodo the Fatboii" was responsible for a drastic shortage of food on Glasgow station in the Leeds system. perhaps this "Fatboii" should be put on a Order watch list, considering his actions sparked a breaking new headline across Bretonian space. I have attached the new bulletin here for review:
