[Location: Battleship Isis]
[Comm ID: Corporal Benjamin Stone]
Greetings Agents.
With the Retribution rebuilt, I took to my usual patrol where I encountered Admiral Orley.
He was attempting to uncover the mystery of an outpost on Toledo's surface. Unfortunately Orley was needed else where, so I continued the investigation for him.
Using the long range probes on my Osiris, I found that there were thousands of heat signatures (yet no life signs) on the surface along with several downed craft sitting among hundreds of craters. I hailed the outpost and was acknowledged by a soldier who referred to himself as "Guard ID 101". I enquired as to the situation and what happened. The soldier told us that the outpost was attacked by bounty hunters but no one was injured. I had no idea how an attack on Toledo could have happened without us noticing. Determined to find out more, I boarded the Retribution's drop pod and entered Toledo's atmosphere.
Corporal Wolfe, Ensign O'Neil, Corporal Johnson and I landed safely among the ruins. We noticed several ships of unknown design bearing strange iconography on them littered around the outpost. We carried along and found to the entrance which had guards stationed outside it's open gates yet they disappeared inside the structure as we moved closer.
We entered the complex and found many dead bodies. I hailed 101 again but he did not reply, instead the doors sealed themselves behind us. While screaming profanities at the traitor we noticed the air growing thin. The air was being quietly vented out of the room. We quickly found our oxygen masks from the kit we brought from the drop pod. With one problem down we ventured deeper into the complex. More corpses were uncovered along with scientific equipment. We found it strange that such things would be found at an outpost. Eventually the air returned but the doors began sealing themselves and forcing us to continue in one direction. I yelled down the empty corridors "If I find you, 101, I'm gonna rip you apart!" Still no reply from the traitor. I launched several grenades down the corridors to clear a path in case of hostiles before we ventured forth. Eventually we got to a large atrium where we encountered the inhabitants of the facility. They greeted us with gunfire. The enemy seemed unstoppable, our weapons seemingly ineffective. However the aggressors disappeared before we could eliminate them.
Frustrated with our situation, we attempted to hail the Retribution, but to avail. Something in my peripheral vision started moving (strangely enough it looked like a dog). We chased after it, down winding stair cases and along gantries. The phantom creature could not be caught. Eventually O'Neil fell behind, fearing the worst we waited to see if he would catch up. The moron had stopped for a cigarette. While berating him for his lapse in judgement I realised that we probably needed a break. I grabbed a cigarette and sat with my men. We contemplated what would happen to us, but we decided to push on regardless. Eventually we found some sort of lab. Hideous creatures floated in test tubes that lined the walls. "Oh dear, what sick crap have we got ourselves into?" I asked to my equally horrified squad mates. We continued down the hall trying not to vomit at the sight.
A monitor of a computer had been left on, it read "Delusion Division". I attempted to access the computer it simply sported the cliched "Access denied". A distant thunder caught my attention, however what worried me was the fact that it drew closer. Eventually we realised that the thunder was in fact explosions, destroying the specimens one by one. We ran until we got to a safe distance from the cataclysm that engulfed that horrible room. We noticed a slight whimpering in the room we had fled to. It was a young man, no older than 18. He wouldn't respond to my queries. Until he uttered something in a language I didn't recognise. He then somehow defeated my squad and I in hand to hand combat. He beckoned us to follow him. I picked myself up from the floor and attempted to down the boy once more, but he dodged my blow and knocked me down again. Becoming infuriated with my efforts he decided to show me what he was planning. We arrived in a room where he set up various explosives around more specimen tanks. "You Order troops are so stupid, you train the ultimate killers, then you're stunned when they turn on you." he said. "What is all this, why are you doing this and what the hell happened here?" I queried. "They wanted to replicated it at 3%, they deserved to die!" he continued. Obviously the boy was insane so I stopped talking to him except to ask what would happen to us. He told us he didn't care what we did, so long as we kept out of his way.
He proceeded to rig the explosives. As he finished he stated "You can come with me or you can stay and watch." I told him that "As much as I don't like you, I think I'll follow you." We followed the young man nervously where he lead us to an escape hatch. "You'd better keep your ship away from mine or I'll make sure you regret it." he said. Not keen to test this crazy son of a, I directed my squad back to the drop pod. We noticed the complex implode as the whole mountain side collapsed. Relieved to be out of danger, we buckled ourselves into the pod and made our ascent back to the Retribution.
So, does someone wanna tell me what the hell the Delusion Division is and why I risked my squad's and my own life for it?
Maybe I don't wanna know, but for now, this is Corporal Stone, signing out.
