Subject: The summary of yesterday's events.
Although I'm not a big fan of paperwork, what happened yesterday surely deserves
a report or even a few. Considering the number of events we've gone through I've
decided to make a brief summary of them all. Should someone want to concentrate
on specific event and add something, they're free to do so. Ok, here's the list.
SUMMARY BEGINS
1) Minor under attack / Rescue of Ensign Ward After some training with captain Stone I took a break on the Apophis. Then I
moved back to Minor to find out that it's being invaded. My scanners picked up
several Bounty Hunters Guild vessels, along with Mandalorians and the known
Black Navy Guard warship, Santo-Domingo (details of that invasion are unknown
to me, so someone else could clarify that).
Open engagement would have been pointless, besides, Captain Leigh had some
urgent business in the Alaska system. He ordered all fighters available to proceed
to Atum. We found out that Ensign Ward was trapped in Liberty, and Captain Leigh
was negotiating with Admiral Malrone of the Navy to get him back. However, Malrone
offered an exchange: Captain Leigh for Ensign Ward.
Naturally, nobody was going to let that happen, so our fighter wing was tasked with
drawing the Navy forces back without actually shooting them. The plan worked, so
we returned to Minor. No casualties on our side.
2) The return of Hieroglyph
After long waiting we have finally received the signal from Hieroglyph, one of our
recon cruisers that had been deployed in Chester. It would seem that the ion storms delayed
the signal. Admiral Golanski has assembled a small fleet and ordered the Hieroglyph CO to
proceed to the planet Gran Canaria, Omega-49. Captain Leigh took command of the Sarcophagus
and gave me a lift to Gran Canaria where I took command over Hieroglyph temporarily.
Then we were ordered to proceed back to Minor. The way was clear, apart from several
mercenaries who were the concern of our fighter wing.
3) The mercenaries
However, the mercenaries turned out to be a greater problem than we expected.
We received a distress call from our fighter pilots, who seemed to have trouble.
They had stayed behind covering the movement of the Sarcophagus and the
Hieroglyph. However, once some of our fighters jumped to Delta, we got news
that no more help was needed. In the meantime two uninvited individuals proceeded
to Minor. Naturally, we couldn't allow that to happen, Admiral Golanski didn't tolerate
their presence either. We were ordered to open fire, and order was executed.
4) Iota recon
Once the mercs were taken down, captain Leigh led us to Omicron Iota for deep
reconnaissance mission. Despite expected resistance, things looked calm until we
entered the clouds of Iota. Weapon platforms don't count, although they can make
significant damage. I'm sure that some people still have the guncams left. It deserves
a separate report (like all the events mentioned in this summary).
5) The retreat
Our way back from Iota turned out to be a lot harder than we expected. When we
ventured deep into Iota clouds, we must've got the attention of the nomads. They
dispatched a small fleet of lesser vessels to draw us back. Captain Leigh took the
decision to move back. However, the real problems began near the jump hole to Delta.
There we were spotted by a Keeper, and that meant a new level of trouble.
Where is one Keeper, there are many, and soon they have proven that. Once we jumped
to Delta, we were faced with two Keepers, and more showed up soon. They seemed to come
out of nowhere. Leigh ordered us to retreat and stayed with captain McCormick to detain
the Nomads. We covered his back in Kiribati Field and jumped.
6) The final stand
Well, that was... something. We seemed to have stirred the hornets' nest. A small fleet of
lesser Keeper vessels, accompanied by the Harbinger and... a Rheinland bomber? Anyway, it
was a small invasion force. I'm not sure how we managed to make it... yet I'm still alive.
I'm sure that someone has more data on that battle, I was too absorbed with combat.
END OF SUMMARY
Well, as you can see, there are plenty of events to be reported and archived. Should any of
you want to make a detailed mission report on any of the topics I've mentioned, be my guest. I'll forward
some of the data I've gathered to Commander Duke, so that he can arrange the media side of the
summary.
