So, This thought came to me today ( Like 30 Seconds ago in Galileo) Why not make it so the Side by Side systems have Benefits?
For example Galileo:
>Make Galileo Slightly larger
>Move the Unlawful bases close to the tradelanes
> make Galileo's Lanes one Long Lane No Lawful bases whatsoever.
Examaple for Kepler:
> keep it the same size if not a little bigger
> Give it Galileo's bends
> Maybe add a BHG Outpost?
I know they're vanilla systems but hey if we're going to axe LWB, perhaps we should start to consider merging side-by-side border systems? Do we need to have duplicates of systems that serve the exact same purpose?

Fully agree.
Choke points are necessary to make interaction happen.
Cutting down on alternative routes and/or reducing attractivity (meaning. cred/sec rate) is necessary to streamline gameplay and allow for reasonably frequent roleplay encounters.
There are quite a few places where the same logic could and should be applied.
It's interesting to note that Liberty is the only House that has two side-by-side Border Systems between it and the other Houses. Every other House has only one (with Bretonia having two jumps between it and every other House except Liberty).

Good one, Lyth.
Ontopic: I agree with the core concept, but not with the execution.
Make the quick system dangerous: two relatively short lanes, 5k distance between lanes in the bend, not too lawful base 10k-15k from the bend, maybe even a wreck in the bend to emphasize it's not the safest route.
Make the safe system slow: three normal or two relatively long lanes, 5k distance between lanes and at least one safe/lawful station in a bend.
Which becomes which out of Kepler and Galileo, I leave that to your imagination.

Good one, Lyth.
This thread is about Border Systems. My post was about Border Systems. It's fully on topic. It's called contributing to the idea-share.

Merging systems is a lot of work because of past lore and lots of infocards that refer to especially vanilla systems, missions in those systems, ship sale points, wrecks, etc.
A quick way to achieve what you want would be for the Lane hackers or GRN to destroy the lanes in one of the systems, or a gate.

Perhaps... simultaneously GRN, BD and Unioners all destroy the lanes in one of their respect House border systems? It's cheesy, but can work.
Still, I think if the end result is improving the overall mod, nothing should be off limits.
