Background 22 years ago Alessandro Suarez found access to an uncharted system, yet unexploited by anyone. It took him about five years but eventually a considerable amount of people joined him in his adventure. They eventually built a station in the system and started mining the local ores, gathered fuel from the clouds and food from the biodome they built.
About nine years after that the last remaining jump hole finally destabilized and the group was left stranded. First moments of panic until they realised that it wasn't as bad. They would just wait and live alone until another jump hole would open. That next jump hole would appear after another five years. It brought with it a group of pirates called the Defilers. Since then many Pioneers died, either to direct attacks, malnutrition or disease. Eventually even their leader, Suarez would be murdered by the pirates, leaving his son to take over. It would just increasingly get worse for the small group but to this day they still live, fighting off the disorganized pirates. But without outside support they'd soon die out.
