There is nothing permanent except for change and times of change are ahead of us. The last year has seen a lot of turmoil, both on Crete and beyond. Battles were won, battles were lost, we flourished but also dwindled. And any change that is not properly overseen, will eventually turn into chaos.

In Attica, the term of Archon Aesop IV is ending. I intend to participate in the race for Archonate, however regardless who wins the vote, a permanent place for Custodi within the broader Corsair society needs to be ensured. For centuries we stayed, hidden away in our valleys and fields, without much regard for the outside world.

With the Apostatas being openly rebellious and our enemies growing more and more audacious, it is clear the Empire needs to be reformed. We can, and must, preserve our unity to flourish, but the situation of the Corsair nation must be examined, flaws within must be found and rectified so that progress is made.

I will reach out to you again after the Attican elections with more clear plans of my vision for the future, either as the future Archon or an advisor to one. For now though, it's imperative that you also identify where Custodi can be useful to strengthen the Empire.

To say that I have not noticed the Custodi's rapid re-entry and participation in Corsair Society, both on Crete and abroad, would be in error. With the added help of your people, we have had a resurgence of strength through the Corsair Imperio, and thats exactly what I like to see. I have not yet met Archon Aesop IV myself, but I'm sure that either of you will be a capable leader for your people.

And you speak true, in that the troubles, amplified by the Apostata's open rebellion, needs to be addressed, and that without unity between Corsairs of all familia and lineages, we would become easy prey for our numerous enemies. I, and the Council, can make room for a Custodi Ambassador to sit with the Council, passing on advice and news from the Custodi nation, although given the insular nature of your culture, you are welcome to continue running it under your own governance, given that you still uphold the laws set down for all Corsairs by the Council of Elders.
