Light on an old secret

Backstory of the AAD (Autonomous Attack Drone)

In 800 the Nomad wars broke out and the CEO of AP manufacturing were infected. This was a big problem for the Core's controllers and they figured out a way to deal with the nomads more efficiently. After years of research and hard effort, the solution was complete for using. They made a software that is quasi-autonomous and it can control most of the already existing Core ships completely. This software was implemented in one Mako, two Bullheads and several Pleco- (anti-gunboat) and Sturgeon-class (anti-fighter) gunboats.

In 811 the project is completed and every ship was fully constructed. Several tests were done and various tactics were programmed in the drones.
After a year the cloaking device technology was cracked and the Core produced their first devices. The drone-fleet got upgraded with them.

813: The drone-fleet took his part in the destruction of the Battlecruiser Apollo. The Apollo's crew was infected by the nomads. The ship returned to Core territory as a "trojan horse".

In 816 the drone-fleet took part in the Battle of Omicron Lost and they had a long-term convoy protection objective too.

817: Under the command of Luther Varrus the drone-fleet took part in many battles and smaller conflicts in almost all zones of the Core influence.
The software was updated and rewritten to be more aggressive. The drones also received a new protocol called "UPTS" -Unknown Path Tracking System- which allowed the drone-fleet to search "independently" for survivors and help the allies if the Core gets destroyed or the drone Mako loses connection from the communication centre.

818: Battle of Minor; The Core launched a ruthless strike against the Order. The Nomads launched a surprise attack against both sides, but the drone-fleet managed to get into the fight just in time. It was late to win the battle, but many lives were saved by this move. The drone-fleet's last software update turned out to be too much and it didn't stop tracking the Nomads. They tracked the Nomads all the way to Omicron Lost and the last fight finished near to the Austera Nube. The Mako lost connection and couldn't communicate with the control centre anymore, but managed to hide in the Austera Nube. Only the Mako and one of the Plecos survived.

The Mako ran completely out of energy, it's power generator exploded and it became completely immobilised.
The Pleco, named "AAD-Flashboom" survived with a drained shield and some scratches, but every system remained functional. It started the "UPTS" protocol and it's still flying around the systems. For some unknown reason its sensors -possibly damaged- don't recognise the exact affiliation of someone anymore. It just decides from the database if it's neutral or hostile.
