Escort Vessels arriving in Sensor range. The AI's voice just went in one ear and out the other. Everything was quiet as usual within the Omega-54 system, especially given the fleets departure for the coming Munich Offensive. Having just ingested more guilt and a ghost from her past, Anna needed something to occupy her time; approving combat missions from the SOA ranks seemed like something to pass the time. Given the current nature of Omega-47, a more aggressive approach was needed anyways. Raise shields and set us on a flight path to Outpost 415.From orbit the outpost was invisible due to the cover of large hurricanes and water being carried over from the sharp winds of the planet. The gravity pressure began to tug on the ship as cut through the Planet's thick atmosphere, as the ship passed the heat wave of the Planet, the clouds began to encompass the ship - along with it's escorts.
The ships emerged from the clouds into total darkness from the time of day and location of the sanctuary. Located in the northern region, it was almost entirely masked from the weather conditions and time frame of Wiesbaden.Outpost 415 in range, authorization recognized Generalmajor Heinirch. The ship's engine sounded like a car throttling down as it moved slowly into the Outpost's hangar bay. Anna quickly exited her ship, and climbed down to the catwalk where she proceeded with her guards just seconds behind her. As she entered the room to her quarters, she unfastened her EVA suit; leaving just her casual uniform.
Anna's laptop and holographic table booted up. Filter out pending SOA operations, and display agent Rafnkelsson's status and vitals.Yes Generalmajor.Over a dozen prioritized missions were drawn up, to her surprise - they were all reconnaissance missions. The SOA seemed to be running it's combat activities with only the Direktor's supervision, most missions were obviously allowed by his supervision alone; but anything with a certain level of importance needed to be run by her. Given Tangier's state, it was suprising to see no need for teir-5 combat missions on Tangier - maybe the SOA had everything under control for once. Agent Rafnkelsson is currently near the core Laboratory, his vital signs show stability.Viking was fine, no combat missions, and no contact from Draay? Anna thought about contacting Draay for a moment, but then whatever he had planned would probably be met with hesitation. Anna decided to wait and see what would unfold from the Direktor.
Anna sat back and thought for a moment, perhaps checking on her son? No, she didn't want to feel the re-attachment, but what else.... Generalmajor, unidentified vessels entering the Outposts outer perimeter and closing; they have no registered authorization codes. How many?! What classes?!Fear shot through down her spine as if water were rushing from her head to her toes.5 vessels, they appear to be civilian fighters; eagle class. Anna rushed to intercom.ókunnigr kar nálgask! Intercept en vega!Anna screamed over the intercom, her Bretonian accent lashing out. She quickly rushed over to the hangar bay to see five Odins begin to dispatch. As the vessels began launching one was shot down instantly by the approaching fighters.
Anna's heart began racing, her eyes sharpened blue: it was either a traitor or worse - someone well informed. On instinct she rushed for her EVA suit, turning the fear to anger to bring focus.
CONTACT THE YMIR, GET EVERY AVAILABLE WING DOWN HERE NOW! Anna screamed as she grabbed her EVA suit, stepping in it as she walked out of her quarters and into the hangar bay. There's a problem General, the RHB-Ymir is not responding... there are no life signs, someone's cut the vessels life support. Anna's heart began to race furiously, the glow of her iris began to expand into the surrounding capillaries, indirectly making her signify the seriousness of the situation to her guards as she yelled at them. Anna raced onto the catwalk to her fighter, as just before fastening it she spoke out again to her vessel's AI. SHIT, CONTA-BOOM. An explosion went off in the hangar bay, disabling the shield gate and leaving a large opening in the ceiling. The gravitational pull of the planet and it's atmospheric gases mixed within the Oxygen instantly hit each of the personnel. Despite her body literally crumbling on her and her oxygen supply getting too sharp for her lungs to handle, Anna stood up; determined to make it to her fighter as fast as she could.
Anna stumbled and eventually began crawling to the end of the catwalk, however; just as she approached the end the fighters flew back around. Anna could hear the sound of their engines accelerating them faster than sound - it would be a sound that would haunt her for the rest of her time. The ships immediately began firing on the hangar bay, blowing off a portion of Anna's vessel, another round hit a stationary Odin's engine - sending Anna off the catwalk and onto the main floor - where she would be too weak to move away.
AAGH!Anna screamed out in pain, choking and struggling to look up at the scene in the air. This was the end of what was being recognized as one of the most ruthless leaders Sirius had seen? Anna could only think of her son, and all she had lost to gain what she held onto with such a tight hand. Her power, her legacy - everything she had suffered for was about to be taken at the hands of a few petty assassins. Tears rolled down her face as she looked up again at the vessels - now flying away. Anna cried out in pain one last time, gasping for air as she felt the planet's gravity overcome her own weight. After twitching and struggling to move, she managed to roll over on her back - where she looked up at the clouds one last time before she would drift away forever.
Slowly, the glow from her eyes faded as she withered and died.
The Bridge of the RHB-Ymir was quiet as usual, not many comms were relayed through the war vessel due to its secretive nature. Given the return of the Generalmajor from her mysterious meeting north of Rheinland however, Brigadegeneral Faust was held in command of the Vessel to ensure the smooth transition of the vessels to the ground. The Generalmajor will be approaching shortly, signal for her guards to meet her at the exit. Send our authorization code to contact the Outpost.Ja, Brigadegeneral - the signal is away. In light of Xiaolian's absence Faust had quiet some shoes to fill, moving up from his former position as a major holstering the defensive fleets near Vogtland; the Generalmajor saw him fit to assume control of all assets within the system. Along with the responsibility of the Volksrevolution's civilian population came other responsibilities however, the Brigadegeneral of Dresden was almost always overseen by the Generalmajor. Mixed with frequent meetings in person, Faust's responsibilities required that he maintain quite the character in the event things went south.
Only issue was - he wouldn't.
Aaah! The radio operator tossed off the headset and covered his ears, his move caught the attention of everyone on the bridge - each of them gazed towards his monitor. Herr, our comms frequency is being scrambled! There's no external source!Main power offline, secondary power engaged - life support systems nominal. The Brigadegeneral appeared calm in light of the situation. A security breach? Nothing he couldn't fix - perhaps even so smoothly it would go unnoticed to everyone outside the vessel.Ground units to the control room immediately, we have an intrude;, use of deadly force is authorized on any suspicious or non-compliant personnel.as if on que, the AI spoke up immediately upon releasing the button opening the intercom - paralyzing everyone instantly with fear. Life support systems disengaged, room temperature falling - gravity offline. The Brigadegeneral suddenly hesitated, he glared at the radio operator for a second before beginning to reach for an object to grab onto and re-compose himself. He held onto one of the control monitors and pulled himself down, other crewmen aboard the bridge looked at him. One of the crewmen starred into him, the fear in his eyes froze the Brigadegeneral in place. As he went to speak up, he was cut off by the sound of the AI yet again. Danger entering Vacuum...The sound of the AI faded away quickly as the entire vessel was purged of its gravity and oxygen, vacating through the airlocks of the ship like water spewing from a fire hydrant - everyone aboard would be dead within seconds, including Faust.
Faust gazed outside as he choked to death in silence, the Generalmajor flew past the Ymir - unsuspecting of what would lie ahead. As the ship left his field of view, his vision began to fade along with his pulse.
Several minutes later, every crew member had flat-lined with no oxygen and the freezing conditions. Oxygen andgravity systems restored, exiting vacuum. Life support operational, room temperatures adjusting.BANG The sound of floating lifeless bodies slamming against the ground shook the ship, the entire crew was killed in a matter of seconds as a result of sabotage. With life support systems and power online, the ship continued on its course in-sync with Wiesbaden's Orbit; drawing no suspicion from the approaching Generalmajor. Alert several vessels detected entering the vicinity of Outpost 415, the Generalmajor has been notified; combat vessels ready. The AI's voice was met with silence, and the temporary demise of the Army would follow with it.
Direktor Draay's debriefing, present day
Codename: "The Fall", access restricted to: Oberkommando
Intruder in SOA uniform detonated some sort of advanced EMP device, which completely shot down Yggdrasil's bridge. And then carrier lost its orbit and started spiraling towards Tangier's surface.
Hull plating was burning off the falling carrier, engines were not responding, but Siegfried managed to stabilise the trajectory a bit using nothing but a bank of thrusters and its atmospheric drag fins.
"Allright, crew, this is Direktor Draay speaking. Our carrier has been sabotaged and we're falling to the planet. This won't be a landing, it will be a controlled crash. Repeat: a controlled crash from secondary bridge. But we will survive, because SOA doesn't die. SOA doesn't fail. SOA always prevails."
Every bone in Solveig's body ached with helplessness. Because she knew: that ship was a death trap. No one could land such a hulk, not even her brother. Each second that passed before its crash and burn was a miracle in itself, a testament to the gifts of a pilot who was once legendary-but when each second is a miracle, how many of them can be strung together in a row?
This is Siegfried Draay's masterpiece:
Many people say he once was best fighter pilot in the Army, but that's merely talk, born of the constant NeuralNet references to his unmatched string of kills in fighter combat. Blowing up rheinlanders and corsairs is simply a matter of superior reflexes and trust in himself; he has spent so many hours in the cockpit that he wears am Odin like his red mantle. It's his own body, with thrusters for legs and cannons for fists.
What he is doing right now transcends mere flying the fighter or commanding the capship.
The ship he's in is not only bucking like a maddened animal through brutal coils of clear-air turbulence, it's on fire and breaking up like a comet ripping apart as it crashes into a gas giant. He has only seconds to learn how to maneuver a carrier which has never been in atmosphere. Which was never designed to be in atmosphere
This is, put simply, impossible. It can't be done.
He's going to do it anyway.
Because he is Siegfried Draay, Direktor of SOA and the future of an Army.
He extends his hands and for one long, long moment he merely strokes controls, feeling their shape under his fingers, listening to the shivers his soft touch brings to each remaining control surface of the disintegrating ship, allowing their resonances to join inside his head until they resolve into harmony .
On the downbeat, atmospheric drag fins deploy; as he tweaks their angles and cycles them in and out to slow the ship's descent without burning them off altogether, their contrabass roar takes on a punctuated rhythm like a heart that skips an occasional beat.
And the true inspiration, the sparkling grace note of genius that brings his masterpiece to life, is the soprano counterpoint: a syncopated sequence of exterior hatches in the outer hull sliding open and closed and open again, subtly altering the aerodynamics of the ship to give it just exactly the amount of sideslip or lift or yaw to bring the carrier down without destroying it.
The howling winds of Wiesbaden had only begun to wear at what remained of the Outpost. The halls were empty, and skies were filled with thundering clouds and snaps of lightning. The roars of the environment could be heard throughout every inch of what was left of the facility. Most of the Generalmajor's quarters and meeting room remained intact, the hangar and laboratories however had been nearly totaled.
Several of the guards lied dead in the laboratory, the hangar bay still held the Generalmajor's two personal vessels - along with her own body. As the winds continued to erode the facility, three "Heimdall" class gunships - escorted by a wing of fighters - flew over the facility. The engines roared and shook the ground as each of them began to touch down near the facility. Upon touching down, the doors opened, letting out several personnel in EVA suits. The wing of Odins continued established a perimeter around the outpost and began to circle around.
Spread out, start at the Laboratory, you know what we're here for. A thick Rhineland accent spoke over the intercom to the other personnel, upon entering the facility several utility vehicles exited the gunships. Each of the utility vehicles was carrying a variety of tools and objects, some moved out towards the shield-gate perimeter, others continued into the facility. The group entered the laboratory first, checking to ensure no nomadic materials had been stored there that could have survived.
The laboratory -along with the rest of the facility- was illuminated from the backup power, erasing the need to restart the facilities power immediately. To the group's surprise the laboratory was composed of weapons as opposed to any nomadic or strange materials. With nothing pertaining to their mission, or nothing of value rather - the group rushed to the connecting hallway. Upon exiting into the hallway connecting the laboratory to the Generalmajor's personal quarters, the group found the bodies of four guards on the ground. Four bodies, S.O.A, guards likely. A voice spoke up over the intercom, this was different, having a lighter tone. Mark the locations, Stasis pods will be dispatched as soon as we find the Generalmajor's body. One of the personnel squatted down to examine the bodies condition under the armor, removing the dead guard's mask and examining his face. Skin and muscle tone has remained intact it seems, perhaps the weather here doesn't decompose them as fast. The facilities emergency bulkhead systems seemed to preserve the guards. Apparently the conditions of the surface were favorable, however the gravity and small amounts of sharp oxygen would have attributed to their deaths - which they had.
The group continued into the Generalmajor's quarters, they searched the area top to bottom, scanning for any hollow points in the walls while kicking in room to room. The planet's strong gravity started to slow them slightly, the EVA suit could only carry them for so long in such conditions. She's not here, move to the hangar bay.The shield-gate will be up soon, once it's enabled we can begin repairing the medical facility. All of this will be for nothing if we do not FIND the Generalmajor, move! The voice was insistent, whoever was heading the operation showed quite the affection for a corpse.
The group quickly exited into the hangar bay, their eyes were immediately drawn to a large hole in the ceiling the shined down over some wreckage - it was the was the Anna's vessel. The group ran across the somewhat-damaged catwalk to find the the rest of the vessel. The cock was empty, opened actually; the ship was missing its right wing wings which were both located under the opening in the ceiling.
The attention of the personnel shifted to the bottom level of the hangar bay, the ground was barely visible in the darkness. With the hole in the ceiling attributed to the loss of lighting in the rest of the hangar bay, perhaps a circuit board or generator had been destroyed in the bombing.Night vision, onOne of the personnel spoke up, the rest of the group followed, checking in as they switched. Immediately upon switching a body could be seen towards the far end of the hangar bay, the uniform was distinct - it was her. We have her, send a stasis pod to the hangar bay, lower level, immediately! The pod is on it's way, how bad is she?The examiner squatted down again, her natural pale skin made it difficult to tell her body's condition. Her skin remained none the less, along with her limbs. She's repairable, but I need to act fast. The man spoke with a confident tone, as if resurrection was nothing more than curing a child of a cold.
Station quarters deck-11 Freeport-5, Útgarðar (//Omega-41) ??????????????
Annabelle awoke, dressed with nothing but a an old loose long-sleeve shirt and long pants - a common outfit from her childhood years. Despite her awakening being calm, she reacted in shock of what had just occurred seconds ago. Sitting up faster than her eyes could react to, she started breathing heavily, waving her arms about and looking to make sense of her surroundings. After a few seconds of panicking, she immediately realized where she was - back home.
The room was silent, not even the sound of the station's shield generator could be her as Anna stood up, her head nearly hitting the ceiling in the process. Everything seemed so much smaller, perhaps that was only due to her age and size now, the more she grew up, the more she began to realize how much she really had. Everything remained as it was, her bed was still there with the blanket loosely tossed over the actual mattress. Her drawers, desk, even a small pillow she used to hug when she was afraid - or having nightmares.
Anna squatted down on her toes and opened the drawer, inside, her coloring book still remained. She opened the book, finding all the heart-filled drawings she had made, tears rolled down her eyes as she continued to take in every page. Anna put down the book on her bed as she stood up, shaking with anxiety as she took every bit of air.
Tears continued to roll down her face as she took in her surroundings, everything was as it was. There was even a picture of the whole family together from so long ago, she had changed, anyone looking at the picture wouldn't even get an idea that it was her now. "It was all dad's fault, he RUINED everything." She thought to herself, in reality she was just looking for a place to settle her anger. She knew what she had done in the past was wrong, or at least -some- part of it, but she never came to peace with the fact that she could have moved on rather than become what her father wanted.
Still, she couldn't find it in herself to be angry for some reason. Like a fire without oxygen, she was so overcome with sadness and loss that she couldn't spark the rise in blood pressure, or even think of any memory that would surge her temper. All she could do was make a blank, sad stare into the photo of what was - her family. Her mother still held a place in her heart, being the one who truly raised and loved Anna, seeing her face only brought more tears down Anna's cheeks.
She breathed in and turned to the window looking out at the neutron star, it was beautiful, but something odd brought out the beauty in the system even more. A soft bright red glow filled the black space like a sunset. It was quiet, peaceful, and hypnotized Anna instantly - just as she was as a child. The entire setting just drew her into a sort of "dead trance", staring out the window with an emotionless face covered in tears. The bright blue glow in her eyes and surrounding capillaries reflected in the window, nearly distracting her just as she began to zone out, only to have a voice interrupt. The voice struck suddenly, yet so familiar, surely it couldn't be...
Annabelle. Anna turned to see her mother in front of her, looked just as she had before the accident that took her life - she looked gorgeous. Anna looked up to her mother in that sense, and obviously held the love any child did for their mother. Overwhelmed with emotions she rushed over and hugged Mychaela, who of course - hugged as well. It was somewhat awkward; Anna was now taller and much larger than her mother, still, it didn't seem to shake Mychaela at all.I'm sorry, you don't know what's happened, I-Anna's voice was muffled from placing her head against Mychaela's longsleeve shirt. Overwhelmed with sadness love, and so many other non-hostile emotions. She was missing a portion of herself, the portion of herself that made her the monster she tried to lecture to her mother. Her mother interjected quickly.Anna our mistakes as a family aren't your fault, you were left with a life you sought to avoid. You grabbed it by the throat and made it your own, you're not what you think you are - you a matriarch more than anything. Slowly, Anna took her head off her mother's shoulder, trying to filter out the shock of sadness from seeing her mother again after so many years. It was a bit more re-assuring to hear those words come out of her mother's mouth. It seemed that even in the worst outcome, love never really left either of them.
It's over now, isn't it.Anna spoke with a stutter, she just felt so weak, so sad.No, there will be a time for you, and the people you've lost, but that time isn't now.Anna's face was drenched in confusion and sadness, going back would be too much. At least, now it felt like it was the wrong thing to do.Why?Anna spat out in response, she nearly mirrored an ordinary person in despair; pain; loss - all factors that would put fear into the thought of passing again.
Because you've a life to live, and more than that - a son to take care of.Isaak was so young, he didn't need a figure like Anna in his life - even if she was his mother. It would only work against his character as he grew up, nevermind the difficulty the family would have living with their reputation. Mychaela's facial expression didn't seem to concur with Anna's thoughts, but then again - Anna was didn't know what to do.I can't be what he needs me to be!Anna replied on impulse, shaking her head lightly with desperation for help in any form.
You will, I love you, and so does he. Now, it's time for the other half of you to take over again. The other half... she didn't mean -.What do you mean? Mama! The room began to fade, Mychaela stood isolated in the darkness for a second before fading away as well. Everything went cold, dark, and with it - an overwhelming rush of anger.
In slightly over a weeks time several remnants of high command personnel within the Army had caught wind of the events on Wiesbaden. Careful to ensure it's saftey, many were dismissed by the man heading the operation - Uwe Bergmann. Bergmann was a major within the Army at the time of it's collapse and was particularly fond of Generalmajor Heinrich's more aggressive approach at it's head. Having dissolved in chaos following her disappearance and lack of contact to the Oberkommando, many other assets -including Direktor Draay- had disappeared suddenly. Determined to restore order himself and win his own prize, Bergmann had spearheaded the operation on his own authority with other personnel loyal to the Generalmajor.
Anna's body had been ravaged internally, her lungs couldn't support the planet's compounds mixed within it's already extremely sharp oxygen/nitrogen levels. The planet's gravitational pull was roughly double -if not more- than that of the universal setting for life support, as well as the setting of most colonized planets. This, mixed with lack of water and food for so long had caused her body weight to drop dramatically. Not only would she need a revival process, but her entire body would need to undergo massive surgical adjustments to ensure she could survive in the event something happened again.
Reviving people on a cellular level was an unspoken common feat among many leading medical divisions. Of course, based on the state of the deceased procedures would either succeed or fail, there were many drawbacks in reviving people. Some had lost most of their memories, others had deterred mental health, most often resulting in rage episodes or that of fear. Deranged from her childhood, Anna had already inhibited the most anger anyone could /probably/ ever experience in a given place or time. That being said, even when she seemed to be at her worst, there was always somehow room for more.
The procedure to re-establish her vitals was very short, a variety of test results stolen from other medical groups mixed with the SOA's own innovators made the process become a reality with haste. The trouble was making her durable for something of the sort again, the funding and resources would surely deplete the medical team temporarily, but Bergmann was willing to go to any extreme to bring back the long dead Generalmajor. The procedure to edit Anna's body structure however, would take much longer. Adjusting her lungs to suit the sharper oxygen and nitrogen levels, along with filtering the planet's unknown compounds was much more concrete. Adjusting the bone density and muscle mass to correspond in a way that didn't rupture the Anna's appearance completely was much more of a challenge.
The amount of oxygen needed to support her muscles with the correct density as well as the calcium needed to support that kind of bone density would be a bit more substantial than the already extreme level in normal humans. The sharp, richness of the oxygen in the atmosphere however, was just the amount needed to correlate with the other adjustments. The only drawback was - she could only ever live within Wiesbaden's conditions. Any other kind of exposure off world would weaken her significantly. A specialized EVA suit would have to be in preparation, but not before they conducted the final, and most important test of all...
The Generalmajor was kept inside a stasis pod filled with a strange liquid compound to negate the effect of the gravity on her body as they began to pull her out of an induced coma. Slowly, the water began to drain down below from the stasis pod, revealing the Generalmajor chained by her wrists and ankles to the pod. Surrounding the stasis pod was an open room with a single door in front of the pod. It looked more like a safe-door than anything, but that was because the pod had served a similar purpose in the past for Anna. Looking slightly up and to the left was an observatory that had been installed for this very test, it was obvious to the medical team reviving her that she would likely lash out in anger and anxiety, with her body's strength composure mixed with the conditions now necessary for her survival, sitting in the same room wouldn't be possible for long. The room alone had it's life support settings adjusted to that of the planet, in other words, gravity, and the oxygen levels would be the same. If the procedure worked, the Generalmajor's vitals would react in parallel to that of an ordinary person, if not - it could be fatal.
She should wake up any second now, mind the display, if the numbers go over the designated limits put her to sleep. One of the scientists watching form the observatory spoke up to break the silence. A few others sat on either sides of him, whilst Bergmann, and several other officers stood behind them dressed in uniform - all of them waiting to see if their leader would be resurrected from the dead. Her hair had been cut short, her skin pale as before bearing the scars from her past, dressed in nothing but undergarments - she began to slowly breathe in response to the lack of fluids.
Vitals are steady, her heart's contracting and her lungs are responding accordingly. I can't tell how her posture's holding until her muscles wake up.The man was sweating, it was quite obvious a lot more than his reputation was on the line here. Despite his calm attitude during most occasions, Bergmann's tone and display on the subject was much more strict. He, and the others at his side were willing to go to any extremes to bring back their leader. His sweating continued when he noticed the blue glow brighten beneath her eyelids and extend to her surrounding capillaries. It indicated emotion - it indicated she was awake.
Anna phased out of her dream, the overwhelming amount of sadness began to fade along with her dream. Her brain began to override her heart, the pain, hatred, and fear all struck down the utopia of her dream as she was pulled back into the real world - back from the dead.AGH!She shook violently, waking up from her dream to find herself chained inside a container. She began to breathe heavy, struggling and yanking at the chains in an effort to break free. Her body was reacting normally to the room's conditions, her posture held up and she showed no signs of injury just yet.It worked... her muscles and bone structure is stable... they're reacting properly. The scientist spoke in relief as he slowly stood up to observe Anna's reaction, she was struggling and screaming as she tugged at the chains.General.The sound of Bergmann's voice echoed throughout the room, stopping Anna's reaction for the moment. Something about that title made her brain click back in place, she was immediately familiar with her surroundings. But she was still unsure of both herself and the people holding her in place.Remain calm, we're coming down to release you. Anna glared up at the observatory as Bergmann turned off the mic, and spoke over small radio, signaling for some of the S.O.A personnel to go down along with himself. Major, we don't know anything about how her body will react under normalized gravity, we also don't know if she remembers anything. She reacted to her title, we'll find out if she knows herself once we approach her.And if she doesn't?Than we'll deal with it, do as I say, if her body enters shock put her to sleep.
Anna relaxed, letting the weight of her body hang from her arms as she looked around a bit more. She looked at each of the chains, making a slight effort to tug each of them to no avail. Suddenly, the sound of one of the bulkheads opening caught her attention. The sound was followed by footsteps approaching the main bulkhead between them and her rapidly. Just as they approached the edge of the bulkhead, something seemed to change. She suddenly felt much lighter, she could feel her muscles contracting faster, her bones and arms responded with much more haste. Anna didn't have time to think about it, the doors in front of her opened, out walked a man in an Army uniform along with two S.O.A guards and several medical personnel. One of the guards approached the display board next to the chamber and opened it. While she appeared relaxed, she was still very anxious and very confused, the change in her iris' pigment and glow reflected it. The guards knew something was off, but that didn't seem to occur to Bergmann, who was still approaching Anna.
Something else was odd about them all even more however, each of them was outfitted with a mask, suspicion went towards the room being gassed in the event Anna didn't follow whatever agenda was laid out for today - or for something else entirely. The guards were armed, but seemed less defensive towards Anna, their loyalty was ensured to her - and her alone since they were sworn in. Bergmann approached her slowly, now miniding even the surrounding guards that towered over him. Before he could break for a second to speak he was cut off. What did you do to me?!We brought you back, you were dead. You've been dead for the past five months, General... We brought you back. The anger slowly started to settle in, she could remember it. The horror of her final moments before phasing into her dream, but it never really occurred to her that she had actually died. Her brain was left in a sea of rage following -what she interpreted as- a failure to both the Army and herself. Before she could ask anything further, Uwe spoke up again. The Army has fallen equally, Direktor Draay has disappeared as well, the Volk has... acted out of order. The word of the Army is being met with conflict, we've no idea how many military assets still remain organized.Like lava waiting to erupt, Anna could feel her own blood rush to her head in such a state of despair and hatred. It was heartbreaking, yet at the same time - enabling. The blue in her eyes brightened further as she began to pull against one of the chains binding her wrist, she expected the effort to be no different, but something felt strange. She could feel the chain tug on the entire stasis pod, as if it were lighter, or better yet - as if she was stronger. Every bit of definition in her muscles and body was glittering about as she tugged mercilessly on the chain to break free. Bergmann's face turned from a blank expression to one of fear as the chain tugged on the stasis pod. *Ching* The chain snapped off, everyone in the room reacted in fear, the guards backed up, unsure as to who truly assumed authority. Bergmann turned up to face the observatory, the scientists' expressions were no different than that of Bergmann, and as such they didn't even bother to notice him.
Anna reacted with a hint of confidence, tugging even harder on the opposing chain, determined to break free and vent herself on Bergmann. In shock from whitnessing such a display of strength, Bergmann began to back up and ordered the guards to follow him. Despite their orders, they remained in place however, looking at the Generalmajor - who had now completely broken free. Anna couldn't even begin to understand how she broke free, it didn't matter to her now though, with a quick yank of the legs the bottom chains snapped loose as well. Anna stepped down out of the tube to feel the weight of her body press through the ground, making a loud stomp that would leave a tiny footprint in the metal floor - now it had really clicked that something was different. Everything felt so light, the air, her body, she could feel her feet digging into the ground as she made an effort to walk towards Bergmann. With little avail from being inexperienced in controlling her own body weight, she stopped, still breathing heavy and displaying plenty of emotion.
What have you done to me...?
WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!
Mustering what focus she could, Anna lashed forward towards Bergmann, catching him off guard. With one single clench to his throat she could feel his entire body weight against her arm, as if it was like picking up a textbook. She pulled his body upwards as his hands wrapped around her wrist, shaking in desperation to break free. Please, General...He muttered unevenly, Anna held him up for a moment, then realized her position. In that instant, she dropped him to the ground, waiting for the lengthiest and well thought out excuse anyone could muster on a moment's notice. Her abilities were certainly a rush, but she could already begin to sense some drawbacks in her new getup.
Fear lingered in the air as Anna decided what to do with her new "savior" or so it would be only for those that truly admired her. Resurrection oddly enough felt wrong in a sense, but the person she was now left her curious - perhaps Bergmann did deserve an ounce of gratitude. Ignoring Bergmann's desprate gasps for air she took a second to recognize her potential as she was. Obviously she was stronger than anyone else in the room, otherwise the guards would have made a responded in a more concrete manner. They stood back behind Anna, their weapons pointed down, and their postures steady. The demonstration of strength against the current C.O. was enough to re-solidify their loyalty to her, and her alone.
Realizing that she was once again in charge she released Bergmann's throat from her grip. His knees and hands slammed against the floor violently, followed by a few seconds of him gasping for air inside his mask. His face red from nearly being choked into submission, he took a moment to recompose himself, than turned towards Anna - still on his knees. Anna turned to examine the room and all the personnel further, the slight embarrassment at her appearance was outweighed by her lack of self-understanding. More importantly, her determination to /fix/ her lack of self understanding. Anna's glowing blue iris snapped back towards Bergmann again as she turned, not saying a word. It was quite obvious the implication was for him to explain what had happened to her in reality. Leaning back on his knees, Bergmann looked up at the quite furious Generalmajor to bake the most lengthy excuse possible. Probably the one that would save his life at this point.
We took measures to ensure that should something of a similar nature as what happened 6 months ago happen again - you'll be able to survive. Your body was all but worn down completely when we found you, we revived you, and changed you to survive in the conditions of this planet. You in particular can sustain yourself so long as you're breathing this planet's oxygen and you reside under it's conditions temporarily...
You've already seen the gift you've been given when we put you in a normal setting - so long as you can breathe.
That feeling didn't sit well with her at all, it wasn't a gift, it was a curse. She'd have to spend the rest of her life on a life line in order to survive. She had an even greater definitive weakness, all in return for being somewhat stronger, doing her no good in her current position. Anna's eyes were glowing with hatred, it became obvious to Bergmann by now that the iris change was some sort of indicator.
You expect me to be any of what I was, if I'm chained to this hellish wasteland? You've given me chains, a weakness...
The direction of Anna's words caused Bergmann to errupt in fear for his own life and position within the Army. His plan worked in bringing back Anna, but not in impressing her - not one bit. It was apparent to him that no amount of honeyed statements or descriptions would turn that frown upside down, all he could do at this point was disclose the facts behind what she would need, and so he did.
We have equipment for you that will allow you to appear both in combat and in uniform, General. This won't be a major hindrance, it'll only enable your survival. We didn't do this with the intention of-
Don't. Let me dress myself, then we'll plan our next move. Have a full briefing ready for me once I'm finished, I want to know every detail of what's happened during my down time. Is there anything else I should know about myself before I walk through that bulkhead.
We have a specialized breather for you in your quarters, the facility has been repaired completely. The EVA suit is where the original collection was located as well, the room has it's own life support settings to suit you.One of the nurses spoke instantly, looking to prevent anything worse from happening to Bergmann. Anna snapped around in response, the glow now fading from her eyes to signify she was calming down. Once the nurse was finished, she turned to her guards, now reacting in a more concrete manner.
Show me to my quarters. I'll expect the damage fixed by the next time this is needed. She finished off her statement with a loud demand, her tone and lack of manner demonstrated quite the will to take charge. Her guards followed in response by leading her to the main bulkhead, opening it, and proceeding through as Bergman slowly stood up. The red in his face finally easing away as Anna left the room, but still quick to re-assume his professional stance in front of so many others. All of who -had now recognized who was truly in charge- but still followed Bergman's lead in her absence. Bergmann stood up, redirecting them to prepare for Anna's more formal appearance, despite his treatment his attitude didn't seem to divert in the sense it would have for someone else. He expected this - he knew she would lash out.
Anna was hypnotized by the sight of her own reflection, her uniform fit on a bit more tightly now. The strict, formal hairstyle, cold facial expression, and cemented posture screamed out with a villainous vibe. She didn't feel proud, happy, or satisfied with what she was. In fact, she was depressed more than anything. The embrace of death -at least in her dream- was soothing, with no drastic amounts of hatred or anger to derange her - she felt free. A feeling she could only otherwise feel with her son, who was now god knows where in the universe. The thought of Isaac, and her dead husband Ángel, was a bit more to recoil when it came to mind - and it certainly did come to mind. Attempting to have a family ruined her more than ever, and once the memories sunk in she began to feel it all over again. Struggling to hold her bodyweight above the sink, Anna's head began to hang forward as every one of the memories began to stack on her mountain of depression. At times like this, when she was at her weakest, she fell back on one simple yet unhealthy way to move on; a means by which only serves to poison her further-
