Despite the great success of the Vidar class, the Red Hessians have found themselves time and again confronted with enemy ships that were simply large enough to overpower an attack force and required a fighting retreat to be successfully combated, by which time the enemy would have regained the initiative. The Jormungand class is the Red Hessian answer to that problem. Designed to be a breakthrough assault vessel, it is the heaviest ship in the Hessian arsenal and was modeled closely after the Bismarck class battleship used by the Rheinland Military. Following the tradition of pushing their equipment to the very limits, Hessian engineers used the excess power provided by the ship's large industrial grade fusion reactors to power a massive cannon built straight into its hull. The effectiveness of said weapon has quickly earned it a nickname appropriate with the ship's name: the Ragnarok.

The newest Red Hessian cruiser available to date is a product of many generations of improvement upon the original blueprint. With little remaining semblance to the first design, this ship is heavily armoured, armed and easily able to overpower most opponents. Its industrial grade power array provides an abundance of energy for its weapon hardpoints, and gives meaning to the project's codename: Vidar, the god of vengeance.
Hel Class Description
The Hel class cruiser is an early Red Hessian Capital Ship project that has since been superseded by the heavier Vidar. While not as powerful as the Vidar, the Hel is smaller and more maneuverable. Although still in active service, it is considered an obsolete design by the Red Hessians, and various ships of this class have been sold off or turned over to Hessian allies.

"Heimdall" is the codename for the Red Hessian Gunship project. Named after the mythic Norse guardian, this ship was designed to operate with full efficiency inside the rocky environments of the Hessian controlled parts of the Omega border worlds, all the while maintaining a superior offensive and support capability. It is a prized ship design amongst the Red Hessians, and is never seen outside their ranks.
The Red Hessian gunship project was first proposed in 780 A.S. as the Corsair - Hessian war spread across the upper Omega systems, into the open space there. The Hessians, previously relying on the size and speed of their mainstay fighter craft inside the thick asteroid fields in order to nullify the advantage of the bulkier Corsair gunboats of the Omega edge worlds, have been quick to realise the lack of effectiveness of this tactic in actual open space. A team of former Daumann engineers, freshly defected to the Hessian movement, have been set to work on the project that year, adapting a blueprint from a ultimately unused Daumann armoured deep space miner design mixed with a few finer points from the infamous Rheinland Gunboat. A working prototype was completed only a few months later.
Despite this quick progress however, the Heimdall design continued to remain relatively out of production for the next 30 years. The first recorded battlefield use of this type of ship was during the Casablanca offensive of 811 A.S. and it has been confirmed to be regarded as an invaluable support vessel to the usual hordes of Hessian fighter craft ever since. Use of these types of ships still remained low however, up until 817 A.S. when the Red Hessian leadership decided to finally adapt their now quite extensive production lines to the growing size of combat vessels in Sirius, and the Heimdall gunship was launched into mass production in earnest.
Long before it became apparent that the eminent discontinuation of the RM-1 Outcast Destroyer would pose a severe threat to the tactical operations of their organizations, the Liberty Rogues and Mollys found themselves meeting again to discuss possible solutions to the heavy burden the technically complex Outcast vessel was placing upon their mutual resources.
With the decision that a possible replacement vessel could be in order, the best minds available were recruited at gunpoint and put to work with utmost secrecy to craft a Capital Class Vessel capable of defending critical infrastructure against the heaviest of hostile incursions. Composed of a heady blend of the best in available Outcast operational technology and robust design ethos, the Scylla is the pride of the factions who crafted her.
Developed by the Liberty Rogue engineers at Buffalo, the Rogue Gunboat is known as a clumsy and roughly constructed ship. However, in skillful hands this inexpensive gunboat can become a devastating weapon due to its formidable armor and advanced power array. Liberty Rogues are not only using the gunboat for their own purposes in the Liberty systems and the Independent Systems; many ships of this class are sold to Mollys of Dublin to aid their endless struggle against the Corsairs.
The Typhoon Destroyer is one of the largest capital ships deployed by the Coalition.
The Typhoon is small and light even for a destroyer and like all ships of the Coalition, is built with an emphasis on reliability and efficiency. It is designed to support fleet actions and is not intended for direct combat, though it can still stand its ground if necessary. It relies on speed and firepower over armor and operates in a guerilla fashion which is suitable for an organization such as the Coalition.
After its initial conception, the Coalition research department on Mykolaiv Research Station have refined and updated the original chassis to house a wealth of state of the art Coalition equipment.
The Storm, designed for autonomous reconnaissance missions deep within hostile space, maintains a slender profile and a fearsome reputation in packs for tearing much larger ships to pieces. Built under the Coalition philosophy of inexpensive utilitarian reliability, the Storm has been and will continue to be a feared compliment to the Coalition armada.

The R.H.B-Jörmungandr was the first ever battleship class war vessel constructed by the Red Hessian Army in late 818 A.S. The construction of the vessel alone was a major victory and morale booster to the entire Volksrevolution movement, and would later serve as grounds for several more of its class. Directly supervised by both Kasparr Meisnerr and Sigfried Draay, the vessel remained within the Jötunheimr system until 820 A.S. serving as the systems private guard. All the while receiving the latest upgrades meant for heavy warships to remain as the forefront and pride of the Hessian Fleet.
Following the construction of several other Jormungand Class warships, the R.H.B-Jörmungandr would eventually be let slightly loose onto the forefront in Dresden under the command of former S.O.A Direktor and Brigadegeneral Friedrich Dresner. Whilst remaining on the Defensive for the most part within the Giftnebel near Vogtland, it did occasionally make an appearance proper to its name on the forefront. Destroying and installing fear into dozens of military warships that approached too close, the vessel has even been recorded striking down a "Bismarck" class Dreadnought with it's first-ever "Ragnarok" forward gun.
Currently, the vessel still resides as Vogtland's main guard in the fight against the Federal puppets of the oppressive Rheinland Government. Currently commanded by Brigadegeneral Bergmann, the vessel has only recently left the Dresden system to Valhalla in support of the evacuation. Now finished however, it keeps to it's original position and purpose, living up to the name of the Jörmungandr - a serpent ready to kill anyone that ventures too close.

The name "Jörmungandr" comes from the very beast referenced in legends dating back to humans existence within the sol system. The creature was a massive sea-serpent, capable of encompassing the entirety of Midgard with plenty of slack to spare. It's bite contained a venom that would render it's prey -irregardless of its nature- dead within a short time, the beast was contained throughout the series of legends. But set free at the events of what is known as "Ragnarok" and later killing the God of Thunder referenced as "Thor".

Constructed just over a month after the deployment of the R.H.B-Jörmungandr, the R.H.B-Níðhöggr was meant to mirror the top tier updated design the Jörmungandr constantly possessed. Being the forefront of security in the Omega territories, the Níðhöggr was immediately deployed within the Fólkvangr system to further ensure the security of Ronneburg and the steady flow of supplies to the station. However, due to the very nature of the system, the warship began to constantly endure damage from Corsair raiding parties sneaking around the Hammen Hole. Following this, upgrades to the vessel were delayed, and from its deployment to current day - it has remained the sentinel guard of Ronneburg.
While it's damage did drawback the frequency of its upgrades, the R.H.B-Níðhöggr is currently the most well armed and up-to-date Jormungand class warship behind the R.H.B-Jörmungandr. It's upgrades have been centered around it's defensive capabilities vs. the balanced set of upgrades among the R.H.B-Jörmungandr. Continuously enduring wave after wave of Imperial attack runs, the ship is a large morale booster for Army personnel within the Fólkvangr system.

The "Níðhöggr" roots in the same legends as the rest of the Asgard line. The Níðhöggr was a dragon by legend that roamed the dark regions of Yggdrasil, a giant tree connecting each of the 9 worlds. The Níðhöggr represented the evil of the world, killing criminals and constantly clawing at the giant tree until it's demise in Ragnarok - when the Níðhöggr finally cut through it. The Níðhöggr also fought alongside the Jörmungandr against the gods in the events of Ragnarok.

Following the success of its two predecessors, the R.H.B-Kraken would be the war vessel the Army hoped would make a statement in terms of its dedication to its fight against the corporate juggernauts. Valhalla had some cover to it's benefit, but Niflheim had constant cover in every inch of the system. The Walker Nebula was considered a vast sea similar to the Sigma Crow nebula. Living in the concealed area of the Niflheim Walker Nebula, the Kraken would live up to it's name tenfold. Serving as the safeguard for the Jötunheimr system. It's reputation eventually sunk fear into anyone traversing the Niflheim system to reach Omega-3. Being the first ever Battleship class war vessel to be seen acting offensively. It's first few appearances were dismissed by the Military as nothing but speculation. That would be until several unfortunate military pilots would cross the vessel themselves, only to barely escape with their lives.
With the cover of the Niflheim nebula, the war vessel has accumulated the most offensive victories of any other war vessel in its class. With it's reputation and concealed position, it was commandeered by Generalmajor Heinrich following her rise to power in 822 A.S. While often commanding it remotely, the vessel is a spot to reside in the event her position of Wiesbaden is compromised again. With it under her personal command, the vessel is subjected to under go massive design modifications to further enhance it's role within the Walker Nebula.

While it appears in various different legends dating back to the Sol-era, the Kraken originated in Scandinavian legends prior to its appearance in several others. This sea monster resembled a massive Cephalopod larger than any ever recorded in Sol-era records. The sea monster was massive, thought to have rivaled the size of the Ymir, and to have appeared larger than the Jörmungandr. It roamed the vast deep oceans were it consumed any naval vessels unfortunate enough to cross it.

Constructed in 824 A.S in reaction to the constant waves of Union and Imperial assaults on the Dresden system, the R.H.C-Erdhenne was deployed as one of Vogtland's personal guards. Serving as one of the many sentinels regulating civilian and some military traffic in the northern giftnebel, the ship has spent the bulk of it's time within the field. Following the revival of the Army and the cease of Union assaults however, the vessel has now been occasionally seen outside the field, living up to it's name and severing as a primary platform for offensive and defensive operations within Dresden.

The term "Erdhenne" derives from Rheinlandic folklore as opposed to Scandinavian. The Erdhenne was a spirit, or ghost that would appear before an individual to signal it's death within any time from currently - to a year.
