In all seriousness, I'd go back to the vanillia number of systems plus up to 10 systems that would feature stuff added to Discovery. I mean, the vanillia systems are more than enough for 50-60 players at the same time and most of the Discovery systems are just... barren, acting only as 'fillers'. Out there. Just existing. In utter sadness and void.
Piracy ceased to be fun due to lack of player number, for example. There's barely anyone to do actual piracy (in a proper way -- instead of killing a player who does something along "lol u stupid kill me" lines). Back in 2016 you could log any time in a day and you'd get at least two encounters. Nowadays? Waiting for almost two hours in a capital system without any trader passing by seems to be a new standard.

The problem with removing systems is that they have lore, missions, and commodity/gear/ship sell points that will need to be put elsewhere.
But there is a fast and easy way to bring players closer together by re-organizing jumphole connections to focus routes along bottlenecks like vanilla used to have. It also doesnt require removal of any content:
There is also the additional possibility of making the game more fun and anonymous where all factions are given more liberty and less nerfs when it comes to gear, cargo size, and ZOI. Let players play factions they WANT to play instead of making them create multiple anonymous chars across multiple factions the don't really enjoy playing but play because the mining bonuses, max cargo sizes, gear limitations, and ZOIs require it.
sure, it is very difficult to play several rp char. we could not have who is where or who is here. frankly i don't know who is who, so i don't ask myself any question!
