Darius walked into the waiting room, hands behind his back, back straight and head up. He sat down on one of the chairs and patiently waited for his turn. He had to call in for a checkup for his promotion as he knew he was going nowhere without the results. Unlike the other Knights, he enlisted into The Core with augmentations on his body already, his Eyes, his left arm and his heart.
Each and every room differed from each other depending on the doctor that was in there. He barely sat down and his name was called, "John Darius Guerra?" a doctor came out of one of the rooms. "Room 5 please, come with me." His accent was full bretonian and it did not surprise Darius one bit. He stood up and moved into room number five.
The room was dark and it looked more like a research lab than a Clinic room, but the antiseptic gave it away. The doctor pointed to one of the tables for Darius to lay down on. "I hope that you are aware that this is a checkup. I am not here for more augmentations." Darius said as the doctor approached him with a magnifying set on his head. "Yes, yes, I am aware Mister Guerra, please lay still while I examine your modifications." After Forty-Five minutes of physical and computer examining the doctor spoke. "Tell me.... Mr. Guerra. Where did you get your modifications?" Darius glanced at the doctor. "Ingenuus Research Group. They saved my life two years ago or so and equipped me with this to keep me alive. Each have names of their own. Arm and Spinal upgrade - SAMSON, Eye and visual accuracy upgrade - DAVID and Heart motion core upgrade - EVE. These are pretty much keeping me alive currently."
The Doctor stood in silence, thinking to himself. "While your Eyes and Heart are in perfect condition, your arm and spinal upgrade need to be retrofitted. This is a no-risk procedure as the only things I need to change are easily accessible. Please lay on your chest." Darius listened to the doctor and got on his chest. The doctor knew what to do as he already examined the augmentations so it did not take him long to remove the parts that need to be changed. "I see that your arm had a lot of stuff inside it. Small weapon, scanner and what not..." he said as he was examining the arm once more to make a new one. "...As for your spinal upgrade, it is ready for transplant so please hold still." He gave the arm to an AI in the room while he transplanted the spinal nodes. It took him some time, but it was not long until Darius was able to move properly again. At the same time, his new arm was back and ready. "I added some additional things you will find interesting. Don't break it please. I took the liberty of wirelessly charging your core so you will be fine. Your arm also has a battery indicator so you know when to charge yourself. Come by once a month here for a checkup." Darius nodded and attached his arm onto himself. He stood up and thanked the doctor. He went on his way from the clinic, ready to kick ass again.
