Konbanwa, esteemed friends of the National Council.
It is once again my pleasure to speak to you. This time in the name of the Golden Chrysanthemums to clarify our stance on the ongoing border conflict in the Sigmas.
It comes as a slight surprise to see the Rheinlanders being ready to openly side with the Maltese Nation against the Gas Miner Guild and the Imperial Naval Forces. But this does not change the fact that we are not trusting them a single bit. Their recent incursions into Honshu left a bad aftertaste among a few Sisters. They were not taking about freeing a Sigma system off Kusari and the Gas Miners to claim it for their own, they spoke propaganda regarding full scale war against Kusari's people. Their stance regarding us or the Blood Dragons is to be questioned as well. Rheinland is not unknown to cooperate with others against a common friend of ours.
In addition to our doubts regarding the trust Rheinlanders may be given, we focus on different projects. As you surely noticed the Matsuda left the Sigmas. The overhaul of its internal systems is of high priority as of now. So are recent discoveries within Kusari, including the oppurtunity to land a successful strike against Imperial forces in Kyushu. Most of this matters are still in the planning phase but we would rather not divide our attention too much.
Depending on the gain from the cooperation between Malta and Rheinland, we may as well do our part. But this is nothing but trying to predict the future as of now.
It is no small victory that we have achieved with Rheinland considering our support in the upcoming months of conflict. Our stakes in it are high, as it might we determine what will happen with Omicron Beta if Rheinland should fall against the axis that has formed against it. It vexes me personally that the Bundestag did not exercise a bit more greed when it came to what we could offer, but I trust that our pilots' performance might soon change their minds. Naturally, the National Council respects our allies' qualms about certain moves that need to be done on the chessboard of Sirius. However, we would ask in return that, should your worries prevent you from embracing our decision, you at least respect our rationale in return.
The war is simply too young to tell what will happen down the line. The pushes into Honshu were worrying, but the Council predicts that Rheinland, should they not accept monetary aid from us, will face a major funding crisis down the line. As such, the chances of the Federal Republic being able to actually pose a threat to your sisters or the Blood Dragons is predicted to be negligible.
It is maybe not the optimal reassurance, but it gives us options. I personally hope that the Bundestag soon yields and asks us for the loan we offered them.
A loan? If the Rheinlanders really are in need of a loan and take money from Malta, this would change quite a few things.
Monetary resources to keep a war running, that is a clever move. We will likely profitate nicely from the Naval Forces occupation in the Sigmas and having the Rheinlanders in debt to Malta is great. I suggest we could find a way to get a certain degree of control over them? Just in case they try to get too greedy. Overall I believe we should attempt to keep this conflict running smoothly with no side facing no actual chances to win but yet remain confident that they can win this war. A slow depletion would benefit us greatly. It could cause a new political unstability within Kusari and force the Rheinlanders to open their borders and resources to Malta, and through you, to us.
But for now I suppose we should just watch the course this whole conflict takes. If you have any more plans in mind regarding this, plans which we could assist with, tell us. Meanwhile we will go back to our own projects.
If we are honest, the Council has quite the bit of interest of seeing Rheinland prevail during this conflict. Not only would it give you the chance of picking up the scraps left in Kusari, but it would preserve Rheinland as a quasi-wall against the Corsairs in the lower Omicrons. I doubt it will be necessary to try and draw out the conflict. If anything, Rheinland will manage to do it themselves.
In any case, let us wait first before drawing any hasty conclusions. There is only so much our predictions are worth right now.
In lights of the invasion of the Honshu system by the Rheinland Military and their newest public statement attempting to convince the Imperial Goverment to bow down and surrender, the Golden Chrysanthemums prepare to take actions against the Rheinlanders. This would go against the first idea we had here but given the expected outcome will be that the Imperial Goverment chooses to keep fighting, the Rheinlanders may make their threats real and start spilling the blood of civilians.
We can no longer sit still in this case, Honshu is unfar from the frontlines and a lot of us have family and friends down there. Additionally we hold a number of valuable assets down there.
History showed us how willing Rheinland is to commit war crimes such as planetary bombardements to get what they want.
Past this, we see the oppurtunity to get on the good side of many more Kusarians, especially the Kusarian Youth if we can manage what the Imperial Navy might fail to do. The possible gain of supporters and more political influence following this, outweights the relative low chance of getting market access in Rheinland after the conflict or abusing their debts to Malta to pressure them. Actually this debts and the chance to pressure them later on are not gone anyways, we might even just speed up the progress.
To conclude, we do not expect the Maltese Navy to behave any differently in any way or come to our aid. We decided to be ready to go this way ourselves and do not wish to risk your dealings with the Bundestag of Rheinland. In case of our pilots finding each other in the Sigmas with Rheinlanders around, we will retreat. In case of us facing just Imperial Forces, we shall stay at your side nevertheless.
