It's a little more refined here. This is just some slap on textures and a poor render but you can see it. Its about a 21k poly count. I've gotten better at the Milkshape thing now that it isn't crashing every time.
No put down at all on the other barge which looks great. Just wanted to show this as I have the ship version (shown here) but also a slight modification of it as a station as well. What is distinctive about it is that it has places for up to 4O train cargo pods (as you buy on Pittsburgh for example for a train). Could work well for role play as a station or "barge". Missions could be run to destroy/preserve so many cargo boxes in order to win. Cash could be placed and given after the battle for each barge destroyed or left intact. Just some ideas for using it. I used the frames from the train for the pods to make sure they are sized properly--they are just modified a little.
Here is the model file: model
(freely usable so long as you understand its FREELY usable--meaning I or anyone else can use it too. Anyone who wants can modify it as they please with proper attribution ('natch!)
Here are a couple of pics:
It is not properly textured and I left a "cockpit" off (I don't think it needs one but it can be easily added. There is also room in the "habitat ring" for a few modules to be placed in it. Not hard pointed either (me no know how to do). I'll throw on an antenna or two later. Would make a great base (the dockable version has a top spire and docking bay like the small police/border stations).
' Wrote:Very impressive. I'm curious, can those cargo pods be shot off as they can on a train or transport?
Yep--that's the whole idea of it assuming the hardpoints are done. Wouldn't it be fun? My original idea was to give it a monstrous hull but weak shield so the point would be to target the pods as opposed to destroying the whole ship.
Balancing issues? Whack the drive charge up time to 2 minutes.
Remember it won't fit in trade lanes either, though you could slow down it's cruise if you wanted too.
