It was a bad day from the beginning. As soon as the Lane Hacker convoy exited the jump hole in Texas system a local dark matter cloud surrounded them, disorienting the convoy and damaging the sensitive navigation sensors. To make matters even worse, the convoy was carrying medical supplies for both Separatists and Unioners. They were running a tight schedule and could under no circumstances delay their delivery or divert from their route.
This is when a random LPI patrol detected them. Despite outnumbering the convoy escorts the corrupt and privatized police force wisely retreated expecting an embarrassing defeat at the hands of our cardamine-enhanced escorts. Ten minutes later a much larger LSF "assassination-squad" arrived just before they were about to jump to Bering -- and safety.
Death was almost certain for everyone but in the last minute before interception a single Unioner Arbiter de-cloaked and fired a barrage of cruise disruptors which allowed the convoy to escape and reach Bering before the LSF. Luck was on our side as four Inner Circle Lane Hackers were part of the convoy and their deaths would had been irreplaceable for our cause. A few hours ago the Unioner was identified as Hunter Wolff, a Gefreiter of the Alster Union.
