During the first days of the month of March 742 A.G, the Commandant Pierre Vaillant returned in this home of Ile de France in order to visit the research station of Melun. After to have received the authorization of the station, the fighter started the docking procedure.

Pierre: Bonjour amis scientists. I am the Commandant Pierre Vaillant of the glorious Marine Royale.

Director: I am Julien Danton, the director of the weaponry research development team. I received a transmission from New London that you would require our help?

Pierre: That is correct director. I guess your knowledge in the matter will be very helpful.

Director: But please, let’s don’t stay around here. We will go in my private room. This place is surer for secret discussion. We have also a champagne and wine for our dear visitors…

Pierre: Of course director. Take the lead. Nothing can be done without some wine and champagne around.

The two men moved towards the room of the director, not so far of the research laboratory. Both sit down in beautiful seats.

Director: Bien. Now we can discuss allow me to ask you what brings you here, so far of the frontline? I am pretty sure it is very important.

Pierre: It is indeed, director. We our advance the Bretonians made an alliance with Liberty but as well with Conseillards traitors, and terrorists. Even if we still have then number, this coalition is stronger than expected and we already met difficulties in our advance. The actual problem I will present you is about the strongest battleship class in the Universe, the Valor.

Director: Our Valor? What kind of problem can have a Valor? It is literally our greatest creation. And it has been demonstrated often of the battlefield its superiority.

Pierre: “Often” is not always, Director. Remember that. Recently, the Bretonians and Libertonians made a few battleships able to deal with our Valor. This cannot be tolerating longer. I am myself in charge of the RNS-Sombre Destin, one of our Valor. Even if this ship is remarkable and if we exclude the skill of my crew and I, the difficulties on the battlefield are increasing seriously.

Director: And you would like us to make another battleship class stronger than the Valor? You must understand that the Valor is the Holy Grail of the military development.

Pierre: It appears it is not. At least not yet. Our enemy developed new weapons. If I am here, it’s because I need to know if you are working on new weapons for our Valor.

Director: You are not authorized to know about this, Commandant.

Pierre: Excuse me?

Director: I regret Monsieur Vaillant.

Pierre began to be invaded by the rage. I wanted to resist, be he couldn’t. He stood up and took the Director’s collar.

Pierre: You will reveal me what you are hidden and now! I am here under the Haut Commandement order and even if you don’t want to accept it. I can make a report about your disappointing behavior and you can face very unpleasant people if you persist. We have creatures of the Grand Amiral. This means of the Roi! But I am untouchable! Understood?!

Director: Euh…! Oui…oui, oui Commandant. I will reveal you if the most advanced weapons that may interest you.

Pierre: For your sake, director.

The director showed several documents about the most advanced weapons destined to the battleship.

Director: This is our most promising weapon. We named it “L’Epée de Fierdois” (//Sledge). It is a medium range weapon.

Pierre: I see they look really similar to the Cerberus isn’t it?

Director: Exactly. But a significant superior range. And we plan to mount it on primaries slots for the Valor.

Pierre: I suppose then they are less powerful?

Director: Oui, but just a little bit. They remain still powerful. Once ready, this weapon will be the new terror of our enemy.

Pierre: I remind you that it is only for one Valor for now Director. We need more time.

Director: We especially need more time to develop it. Once the blueprint done, you can have them in few days.

Pierre: Then I guess those datas would be useful in your work. We collected those in Orkney from the anomalies.

Director: That is…unexpected. We will immediately exploit them.

Pierre: I hope so, Director. The Roi is not as forgiving as I am.

Middle of March, 742 A.G.S. The scientists finally ended the prototype of the new battleship weapons and brought them to the Commandant Pierre Vaillant in New London. The scene takes place on the RNS-Sombre.Destin bridge.

Pierre: Ah. Professor, I’ve been expecting you with impatience. I guess you made serious advances to come over here despite all the risks.

Professor: Eh bien Commandant, I still remember your first visit at Melun…Oui en effet. We achieved the the two first prototypes weapons as you requested them.

Pierre: Excellent. Where are those weapons currently?

Professor: In security within the armored transport we used to come in New London. I also have the blueprints of the new weapons. Even if they aren’t completely finished yet.

Pierre: It doesn’t matter. I remind you this Valor will test them. Show me the blueprints please. I want to have every detail of the weapons.

Professor: Here you go Commandant. This is the blueprint.

He takes a datapad and shows him to le Commandant.

Pierre: I see. They are pretty similar to the Cerberus but with a significant range.

Professor: That is correct, Commander. Though they do less damage as we have to concentrate the particles in a very dense beam. With the distance, this beam is getting less dense. That’s a problem we have to correct. We had to reduce the firepower to increase the range.

Pierre: Understantable. But I think they can make devastating damage still. I need to test them in real fights and give my opinion about this matter.

Professor: We already made some virtual simulations and…

Pierre: Non. Your simulations are nothing but pointless. This war is altering all the calculations you can make. Only a true test is relevant.

Professor: Bien, if you say so.

Pierre: When are we installing the weapons? Our time is limited.

Professor: The operation will be done quickly, monsieur. You don’t have to worry about that.

Pierre: I hope so, Professor. It's better for you.

During the first days of April 742 A.G.S, the Sombre Destin finally equipped with the prototype weapons went in Edinburgh for the debriefing of the tests. The director Julien Danton took the time to come on the drydock.

Pierre: Director, I have been expecting you.

Director: Bonjour Commandant Vaillant. I let you all this time to you in order to get sufficient datas from the tests in real conditions. How the weapons work?

Pierre: I have to say I am very surprised of the efficiency of those weapons. They are delivering a great quantity of damage. Our Valor has been able then to tank any Bretonian or Libertonian ships, whatever his loadout.

Director: I am really glad to hear this. Our scientists’ team spent a lot of time to complete your request as fast as possible.

Pierre: You did well. But I need to notice you have different points that need to be fixed.

Director: Of course Commandant. I have brought a datapad for this.

Pierre: By the way, you can tell to your colleague that the datas about the different fights are located on the main computer of the ship and feel free to them to take the datas.

Director: Excellent. I will transmit the message once this discussion over. So, the pros and cons? Especially the cons.

Pierre: Well first, the speed needs to be improved a bit. According to the measures realized, the speed is between 500 and 550 m/s. It will be more efficient if the range can be increased to 650 m/s instead of the current one.

Director: Of course, okay, the speed *he takes notes on his datapad*

Pierre: Then, the range. It is a bit less than we planned. We measured a range of 2.2K instead of the 2.5K. There is no issue regarding close fight, but we had some when we fought enemy battlecruisers.

Director: Noted. We might be able to change that. Anyway it was a previous test. Though to put the corrections and completely finish the weapons, we would need to take back the current ones you have on your ship…If you don’t mind.

Pierre: Besides, that is why we met here, Director. Of course, take them. Our ship is already strong without them.

Director: Merci Commandant. The removing operation will be done quickly, do not worry. I know the time is something precious. Especially during those hard times on the front.

Pierre: You should begin immediately instead of uttering banalities.

Director: Oui…Commandant.

Pierre: It has been a pleasure to work with you Director. I hope we can get more opportunities to make good work.

Director: If you say so…
