Just as likely to save lone travelers from danger, as they are to assault them; The Beholders are inexorably bound to each other and the protocols of an unseen central intelligence that seems to govern their every move. Recruited from all over the houses from handpicked individuals, the Beholders were molded to be versatile agents par excellence. Their minds torn down and built back up with severe meticulousness and precision, they are one of the highest expressions of the Commune's will to control and mold all aspects of mankind to resemble its warped designs.
Though they operate outside the pyramidal structure, and their identities are obscured, they are known through hushed whispers as the eight extended appendages of the Silver Sun Overseer. As such they can be found fulfilling several roles at any given moment, the traditional observe-analyze-influence protocols, acting as highly mobile support shock-troops, assassinating lone targets, hunting down apostates, or even acting as envoys to important individuals and groups.
Though the true nature of their assignments is a mystery at any given moment; Their reach seems omnipresent. They are the furious angels of the blinding sun. The beauty is in their eye, the hint is in their name, and the voice always in the back of their heads.
